Come enjoy a fun morning exploring Jewish foods with children’s author Arianna Brooks. There will be family activities and entertainment, plus kid-friendly snacks. This special Kids Day event is ideal for families with children ages birth to 6 years old.

My Mushy Matzah Ball is a delicious picture book that connects families through Jewish comfort foods and love. This book is a sweet Jewish comfort foods primer for young children.

About the Author

Arianna Brooks creates endearing children’s books filled with love and kindness. Her two passions are food and babies...and writing books about food and babies, which can be found in My Mushy Matzah Ball and her new release, My Happy Hamentashen. In her free time, she and her family can be found building sandcastles, weather dependent, in the suburbs of Chicago.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY ®

Take A Book. Share A Book.

The Mandel JCC has installed a Little Free Library outside our Early Childhood wing. Decorated by The J’s teachers and children, this “take-one-leave-one” sharing box provides 24/7 access to books for all young readers in our community. The J’s preschool children were the first to donate their favorite books during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in September 2022.

We invite you to drop off a book and take one too. Together, we can foster caring, learning, literacy, wellness and instill a love of reading in our youngest community members.

The addition of the Little Free Library is just one way The J connects and strengthens our community. Our goal is to inspire creativity, teach imagination and provide ways for children to get immersed in storytelling so they will someday be able to make their own stories and memories one chapter at a time.
