Model, BGT Semifinalist & X-Factor contestant, Come Dine with Me star and CEO of Madeira Fashion Week, this international choregrapher and performer is more than a fashioniconandtalksexclusivelytous...

When did you decide you wanted to become a dancerandaperformer?

I was around 14 Dance was always present in my lifeMy mother encouraged me deeply, and some of my earliest memories are dancing with her at family dinners, social gatherings, and celebrations

As a teenager, I was constantly involved in school shows, festivals, and performances, often organising dance groups myself and even skipping classes just to rehearse A turning point came in Madeira when I had the opportunity to dance by the fountains with Gabriella, which later opened the door to performing at the Casino of Madeira There, I was trained by Sian Lesley Dance Productions an extraordinary choreographer, singer, and performer with Bluebell Las Vegas and Moulin Rouge roots I performed with her company for seven years, which shaped my discipline, artistry, and stage presence

By the age of 19, I had already formed my own dance group, and from that moment on, performing became not just a passion but a lifelong commitment Since then, I have continued dancing, singing, choreographing, and creating across international stages, always driven by the same love for movement, storytelling, and connecting with audiences that first inspired me as a teenager

Howdidyougetintothemodellingindustry?

At 14, under the guidance of the local international fashion designer Rita Pessanha, she introduced me to the modelling world and provided me with professional training, giving me strong foundations in runway technique, posture, presentation, and self-confidence That early mentorship played a crucial role in shaping my discipline and understanding of fashion from a young age.

At 18, I moved to London, where I completed a full professional modelling course at the London School of Modelling on Regent Street This experience marked a turning point in my career, as it immersed me in the international fashion industry and refined my skills within a global context

From that moment on, modelling became an integral part of my creative journey, seamlessly connecting with my background in dance and performance and allowing me to express fashion as movement, storytelling, and art on international platforms.

Whatisyourfavouriteaspectofyourwork?

The ability to connect, inspire, and create meaningful experiences through art Whether I am dancing, performing, modelling, choreographing, or producing fashion events, what truly fulfills me is bringing people together and making them feel something real I love the moment when creativity turns into emotion when movement, fashion, music, and storytelling align and an audience connects with that energy For me, it’s never just about being seen; it’s about sharing authenticity, passion, and culture, and using art as a way to uplift others and build confidence

At the heart of everything I do is connection creating platforms, moments, and memories that celebrate diversity, self-expression, and the power of creativity to unite people across cultures. That is what continues to drive me every day

By constantly evolving and never allowing myself to become comfortable I believe growth comes from learning, observing, and adapting, so I continuously update my skills, explore new creative directions, and remain open to change I surround myself with inspiring people from different disciplines fashion, dance, music, and art and I learn from every collaboration Staying internationally connected is also essential to me, as it allows me to understand global trends while maintaining my own identity and cultural roots Most importantly, I stay ahead by staying true to who I am Authenticity, hard work, discipline, and passion are what keep my work relevant, fresh, and meaningful in an industry that is constantly changing

WhatwasitlikebeingasemifinalistonBGT?

It was an intense, emotional, and unforgettable experience It pushed me far beyond my comfort zone and placed me on one of the biggest stages in the world, in front of millions of viewers and industry professionals

It was a moment of huge exposure, pressure, and personal growth Every rehearsal, every performance, and every critique taught me resilience, focus, and belief in myself. Standing on that stage wasn’t just about talent it was about courage, discipline, and trusting years of hard work Most of all, it reaffirmed why I do what I do Representing my artistry, my journey, and my cultural identity on such a powerful platform was incredibly meaningful, and it strengthened my determination to keep creating, performing, and inspiring on an international level More importantly, it strengthened my credibility as a performer

it is a creative platform and a celebration of fashion, art, culture, and community I founded and organise it with the vision of creating an international space where designers, artists, performers, and creatives from different backgrounds can come together, collaborate, and shine Set on the island of Madeira, the event blends runway fashion with performance, music, dance, and visual arts, highlighting both local talent and international voices For me, it is about storytelling, diversity, and creating meaningful experiences rather than just shows Every edition is carefully curated to reflect creativity, inclusivity, and authenticity

Madeira Fashion Weekend has grown into a global fashion family a platform that supports emerging and established creatives, builds international connections, and positions Madeira as a cultural destination on the global fashion map. It represents everything I stand for: passion, collaboration, and the power of art to unite people

mbination of

mindset, discipline, and self-care Movement is a huge part of my life dance, fitness, and staying active keep my body and energy alive I also pay close attention to rest, hydration, and looking after myself both physically and mentally

Just as important is staying passionate and positive Doing what I love, surrounding myself with inspiring people, and living with purpose keeps my spirit young I truly believe that joy, gratitude, and authenticity reflect outwardly when you feel good inside, it naturally shows on the outside

SAFE TANNING SAFE TANNING

In a country blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year, you might assume tanning salons would be unnecessary. Yet across Cyprus solariums and spray-tan studios are more popular than ever. In a country blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year, you might assume tanning salons would be unnecessary. Yet across Cyprus solariums and spray-tan studios are more popular than ever.

Despite the island’s natural sunshine, many people turn to tanning beds for a fast, even bronze before weddings, holidays or major social events. Others prefer the perceived control of indoor tanning, believing it offers a “safer” or more predictable alternative to sunbathing on the beach. Spray tanning has also grown in popularity, offering a UV-free option that delivers instant colour without sun exposure. However, health experts continue to warn about the risks associated with UV tanning beds. According to the World Health Organization, sunbeds are classified as a Group 1 carcinogen the same category as tobacco. Regular use significantly increases the risk of skin cancers, including melanoma, particularly when exposure begins at a young age.

The Cyprus Ministry of Health has also echoed EU guidance highlighting the cumulative damage caused by ultraviolet radiation.

Cyprus already has one of the highest UV indexes in Europe for much of the year Dermatologists point out that adding artificial UV exposure on top of natural sun increases long-term risks, including premature ageing, pigmentation issues and eye damage if protective goggles are not used properly

In a sun-soaked Mediterranean setting where glowing skin is often seen as part of the lifestyle aesthetic, the conversation is shifting. Increasingly, it’s not about being darker, it’s about being protected. Spray tanning and self-tan products offer a safer cosmetic alternative for those wanting a bronzed look without UV exposure The key, experts say, is understanding the difference between colour and health.

ELECTRICITY IN CYPRUS IS THE HIGHEST COST IN EUROPE

FEARS FOR BLACKOUTS DURING THE SUMMER AS THE ISLAND STRUGGLES TO COPE WITH DEMAND

The process for the replacement of electricity production units began in 2022-2023, but it still has not been completed.

And with a record number of tourists anticipated to arrive this year along with a surge of businesses moving to the island, the country could see a spate of blackouts over the summer months. This is due to EAC power production units, some of which are not very reliable because they should have been replaced several years ago and are still in operation.

Despite this, the bad news is that electricity rates are also set to increase once again.

EU energy allowances were expected to rise from €75/tonne last year to an estimated €95/tonne this year. While in 2025 the total cost incurred by Cyprus to comply with the EU Emissions Trading System was in the region of €390m, this year and it is set to increase by €100m, and the extra cost will be passed on the households and businesses

When we started BROllywood, this niche was almost empty in Cyprus. There were very few opportunities for children and teenagers, and there were no high-level fashion shows for young talent. We became the first and only film academy and modelling agency of this kind in Limassol, which allowed us to build strongfoundationsintheindustry.

WILD TULIP

FESTIVAL

- Polemi

Village, Paphos - 29 March

Every year, the picturesque village of Polemi in the Paphos district becomes a vibrant celebration of nature and tradition with its annual Tulip Festival Nestled in the hills and known for its rare wild tulips, Polemi draws visitors from across Cyprus and beyond who come to witness the stunning natural display. The event takes place at the Metochi Cultural Centre, a hub of community life, and is centered around the blooming of the native Tulipa agenensis a deep red tulip found only in a few areas of Cyprus. During the festival, the village fields are transformed into a sea of scarlet, offering a breathtaking backdrop to the festivities.

More than just a flower festival, the event showcases Cypriot culture through folk music, traditional dancing, local handicrafts, and culinary delights such as homemade loukoumades and regional wines It’s a celebration of rural life, where the beauty of nature meets community spirit. Families, nature lovers, and cultural enthusiasts come together to enjoy the warm hospitality of the villagers, learn about tulip conservation, and take part in a joyful expression of local heritage. The Tulip Festival is not only a visual feast but also a meaningful reminder of Cyprus’s botanical richness and the importance of preserving its natural treasures.

The Tulip Club of Polemi was formed in 2002 in order to protect the tulips. It aims to make farmers more sensitive towards conservation and advises them to spray the vineyards well before the tulip leaves appear, The Tulip Club also hires a large field in which the protected tulips grow to safeguard them for the future. The bulbs are ste about 60cm. Deep and are around 3cm. in diameter with a tough fibrous outer casing. In early March the first leaf and stem appear above ground. The single stem and leaves grow quickly and the flower bud finally bursts open ten to fourteen days after reaching full height

The numerous long, scarlet petals each have a dark blotch at the base edged in yellow. This has given the flower the nickname ‘Eye of the Sun’. The intense colours are as strong inside the flower head as outside.

DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL

There comes a point in life where things are moving but not yet settled. Invoices have been sent but not paid. The house sale is progressing but buying a replacement is up in the air as I can't find anything suitable. I’m constantly scanning emails and mentally making calculations on timelines and finances. For the first time in ages, I honestly have no idea what the future holds or where I will land my next family home.

I am functioning daily, producing work and showing up, but mentally I’m exhausted. I am temporarily suspended emotionally and everything is starting to feel personal. A flippant comment from my brother sent me spiralling all weekend. A criticism online that I usually brush off wobbled my confidence. When plans are not concrete, my mind starts searching for fault and the easiest place to direct it is inward and I am the queen of taking everything personally. I have to remind myself that waiting for invoices to be paid does not mean I am undervalued. Waiting for a property sale to complete does not mean my life is unstable. I am fortunate to be on the property ladder. Not yet knowing my next address doesn’t mean I am lost. It means I am in transition and there is a vast difference.

In life there will always be a period where the old door hasn’t fully closed and the new one hasn’t fully opened and that space in between can feel exposed and vulnerable. Especially when you are used to being in control. Growth rarely looks neat and tidy and things unfold in their own time. Of course the composed response is not panic. Tell that to my brain please, which likes to catastrophise everything. The mind loves certainty. It wants dates, guarantees, assurances but strength is learning to operate confidently even when those details are still forming. Impatience is my red flag, I can’t stand not being in control but I am reminding myself that this year is a year of repostioning. Selling a home is not instability, it is leverage. Sending reminder invoices is not desperation, it is evidence of a business in operation with deadlines to meet. Not knowing exactly where I’ll live next is not chaos, it is the opening of choice. And choice is freedom and power. My identity is not tied to a postcode. This uncertainty is escalating my inner panic so while I may look calm on the surface, inside I am juggling flaming chainsaws whilst riding a

unicycle. Mid-transition is not weakness, even though I feel fragile. It is positioning me for the next chapter where I will be mortgage free. I have to keep telling myself this will all be worth it. This space, uncertain as it feels, is actually rich with possibility. I am becoming. And when everything settles as it always does, I’ll see that this inbetween season wasn’t something to survive, but something that quietly strengthened me for what’s next. And who knows what or where that will be. In the meantime though, go easy on me.
