The region of Vall d’Albaida, composed of 34 municipalities and located in the south of the province of Valencia, is an inland gem that houses numerous cultural and natural attractions. Its proximity to the coast and the provincial capitals makes the Vall d’Albaida a perfect place for rural and inland tourism. La Vall d’Albaida is surrounded by the Mariola Mountain range, the Grossa Mountain range, the Agullent mountain range, the Benicadell mountain range and the Buscarró Mountain range and bathed by the Clariano River and the Albaida River. For this reason it is a complete region that, in addition to being a great environmental incentive if you want to disconnect from the city and enjoy the flora and fauna of the area, also offers you a rich cultural heritage and exquisite gastronomy.

Introduction The region of Vall d’Albaida, located in the south of the province of Valencia, is surrounded by five mountains that make it an ideal place for sports in the middle of nature. In addition, in its 34 municipalities you will find an important cultural and natural heritage, surrounded by a rich gastronomy that will make the walks unforgettable. The abundance of landscape, environmental, natural, botanical and ethnological resources have allowed the creation of numerous routes through the region. These perfectly signposted trails run through the Vall and enter our mountains and forests.
With the edition of this brochure we propose 28 trails through the mountains of the Vall d’Albaida where, without a doubt, you will discover landscapes and charming corners, at the same time you will live an adventure in privileged environments and of great environmental value. This hiking guide is a collection of all the trails, both approved and not, more unique and representative of the region. The information it contains has been extracted from different public and private sources; therefore, it is a compilation made by the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Vall d’Albaida with a purely informative value.

Benicadell’s mountain range
Mariola mountain range
It is the most emblematic mountain range for the Valldalbaidinos, a reference and a must-see. It represents the roof of the region with an altitude of 1,104 meters. Its toponymic origin derives from the Arabic “Peña Cadiella”, thus used in the “Cantar de Mio Cid”. Specifically, the Benicadell, is the extension of the mountain of the Covalta in the Agullent mountain range to the “Pou Clar” of Ontinyent and, in the opposite direction, reaches the Ador mountain range, to the region of La Safor.
This mythical mountain range extends its domains through three counties (the Vall d’Albaida, the Comtat and l’Alcoià. The year 2002 was declared a natural park and has more than 16,000 hectares. More than half of its extension belongs to the village of Bocairent. Numerous rivers (the Vinalopó, the Agres River, the Serpis and the Clariano) and fountains are born in this mountain range. Walking along the trails is seen as water, land and vegetation combine perfectly, creating unique landscapes. The most characteristic feature of Mariola mountain range is the diversity and richness of its aromatic and medicinal plants that make it known everywhere; thyme, rosemary, savory, chamomile, cat tail, lavender, marrubio, sage... are plants used to season meals and for medicinal and aromatic uses. The presence of holm oaks, pine trees and the yews forest stands out. In addition to all the landscape beauty, you can discover a rich ethnological heritage. Of course, this is the snowfields or cavas that populate the mountain range. We recommend you to visit the most important snowfields of the Mariola: the cava of Habitación, the Arqueada or Grande cava, the Buitre cava, the cava of En Miquel, and of course, the cava of Sant Blai in Bocairent.
Walking along the paths it is easy to realize the close connection of this mountain range with man: stone walls, snow pits, field plots of dry stone, watchtowers, castles... are the manifestations that testify to the passage of time and the different historical eras. In addition to the trails you will find in the Benicadell, you can also discover the protected area of the Umbria del Benicadell.

Agullent - Ontinyent mountain range
Grossa mountain range
This mountain range originates in VillenaBiar and advances towards the sea in northeast direction. With a clear structural unit, it enters the Vall d’Albaida where it receives several names: Agullent Benicadell mountain range, Ontinyent - Agullent mountain range, Agullent mountain range or Umbría. Among the most important mountains or elevations are: the Umbría, the high of the Filosa, the altet del Aire, the altet de Fèlix, the Serreta, the Torrater, the Peña Alta, the Peña Lisa or the Covalta. Nature lovers will discover landscapes sculpted by water, deep chasms, narrow ravines and recreational areas where you can rest and recover strength or cool off with the water from its fountains. The most prominent river area is the “Pou Clar”, in Ontinyent, of great ecological, landscape and natural importance, where the water forms pools excavated in the limestone rock used as natural pools in summer.
The Grossa mountain range acts as a natural barrier between our region and the Costera countie. Its length is considerable, although the summits do not exceed 900 meters. This mountain range is born in the Fountain of la Figuera, runs along the Vall d’Albaida parallel to the Umbría mountain range until reaching the massif of BuscarróMontdúver, in the neighboring region of La Safor. Successions of mountains of ravines and the passage of the Albaida River, which crosses the Estret de les Aigües (Strait of the Waters) in Bellús, are the main geomorphological features. Although vegetation is scarce, as a hiker you can locate some of the native fauna such as the squirrel, badger, wild boar pig, rabbit or fox.

Quatretonda mountain range (the BuscarrĂł)
Located in the eastern part of the Grossa mountain range, it is the place of union of the betic and Iberian alignments with a noticeable presence of faults caused by the karst properties of the terrain. The most important heights are the height of the Hedra (672 m) and the Mola (500 m). In this natural environment abound the shrubs where thyme, rosemary and gorse are the main protagonists. In addition, there is a presence of pines and a microreserve of flora located in the shadow of the mountains with endemic species very difficult to find elsewhere. Highlights include the municipal natural landscape of Surar, in the towns of Pinet and Llutxent, with undeniable landscape attraction and rich fauna, typical area of Mediterranean scrub and seat of the southernmost cork oak of those existing in the lands of the
Valencian Community. It is worth noting the GR-236 that crosses our region: the route of the Monasteries, which passes through the municipalities of Llutxent and Pinet. (www.rutadelsmonestirs.com). The local trail SL-CV 10 runs through one of the most beautiful and unknown environments of the Vall d’Albaida region. Enjoying this space, which allows us to be in permanent contact with nature, is the objective that is proposed with the realization of this path. Description:
You will have to leave the town towards the source of la Pasta by a paved road that runs parallel to the ravine of the Fountain. The path leads you to the crossing of the Magro’s Hut - Penyes Llúcies. If you take the branch on the right, you will access in 40 minutes to the Penyes Llúcies (540 m) passing through the Simeó and Montesí stockyards. They are called Llúcies because of the shine they give off after raining and so it is easy to see them from far away. They are formed by a conglomerate of rocks and sand, adopting the shape and texture of volcanic lava. From here you can link to the Rugat SL-CV 44 that takes you to this municipality, but we return to the main path. Again, located at the crossroads of the Magro’s Hut-Penyes Llúcies, you will reach the Magro’s Hut in 20 minutes, with its splendid views towards Benicadell, the Grossa mountain
range and the Montdúver, only surpassing if you go up from here to the castle of Aielo de Rugat in 10 minutes. It is a fortification of Muslim origin that has a well-preserved water tank and thick walls, still standing, that can make you imagine what the castle’s rooms were like. Jaime I was ambushed by the Arab sheikh Al-Azraq here. You will have to head east towards the Collado-Peña la Hedra junction where you can opt for the Collado branch, which you will access in 25 minutes. From here, with its 575 m altitude, you have before you the Cuta and the mountain range of La Safor, with all its splendor, and through a track that goes to the right you will reach the Rincón del Duque (Serpis river). In the Collado you will find a house under restoration and a large stockyard for the herd, above it some rafts and the fountain, all under the gaze of the Carrasqueta, the highest peak of the term, with 843 m altitude. Take the circular route. When you get to the previous crossing, if you go to the left, you will descend to the source of the Peña de la Hedra, with little water flow, but a cozy place to stop and enjoy the stillness of the environment and its large calcareous walls covered in ivy. Continue along the side of the Collado ravine, where you will find the remains of an old lime kiln. After going down some rustic stairs, you can see some carob and olive crops that will lead you to the Ferri source, the most emblematic of the environment. After 10 minutes you will arrive at Aielo de Rugat, end of the route. This path can be started in the opposite direction from the Ferri source to Aielo de Rugat.

Description:
Leaving Rugat (290 m altitude) along the Fuentes pathway and in just 25 minutes you will reach the recreation area of Rugat, starting point of the trail. Before entering the mountains, we propose to approach the campsite where you will find a lake where you can replenish your strength, rest and fish in the shade. 50 meters from the campsite, you can see the remains of a Muslim village, located next to the ravine of the Fuentes or Barniza river. In addition, in just 10 minutes from Rugat, you will see one of the few flour mills that are left standing in the area and just 50 steps from the ravine, you will find the so-called ‘Datiler’ puddle.
Along the same path you will reach the place of the sources of Rugat and the recreational area from where the SL-CV 44 begins. Resume the march to the junction of the house of Barranca - ‘Penyes Llúcies’, which you can reach in 20 minutes. At this point you can choose two paths: the first one will take you in 10 minutes to the ‘Penyes Llúcies’ and you can link with the PR-CV 43 of Aielo de Rugat, and the second will take you to the house of Barranca, after passing through the source of Barranca, where the route ends, which will have to be done on the reverse direction. Once you arrive at the house of Barranca you can continue the march with another path that will lead you to the source of the ‘Estaca’ and very close to it to the viewpoint of Rugat, this path runs through the alignment of the ‘Penyes Albes’- Benicadell. Then you can access other places by the existing trails in the neighboring municipal terms.

Description:
The hill of La Creueta is located northwest of the municipality of Montitxelvo. The hermitage of Salvador is accessed by a cobbled path that, like the surroundings of the hermitage, has recently been recovered. The space from the hermitage to the peak consists of a compact and rocky terrain with an elevated slope. The itinerary departs from the Constitución avenue, a few meters from the bus stop of Montitxelvo, and you climb to the hermitage of Salvador by the path of the Hermitage. From there, you take an upward path that will lead you without difficulty to the summit, where the Creueta is located, also recently recovered.

Description:
The itinerary departs from the Constitución avenue, a few meters from the Montitxelvo bus stop, and continues along the street of the Escuelas to the Baix fountain. From here it continues towards the cemetery along the Royal Road of Gandía (via pecuaria). The itinerary reaches the ravine of the Planet and continues along its left edge attached to the ravine. Once you reach the Planet Aqueduct, the itinerary continues along the Old Pathway of Aielo de Rugat, always by the low edge, next to the ravine. Subsequently, by a path between
orchards, you reach the raft of the Sastre. This raft is a monumental work of hydraulic engineering consisting of two rafts, the Great and the Small. From here, continue to Ferri’s source, along a forest path. At the Ferri source, it links to the local SL-CV 43 trail. The itinerary then passes through the riurau of Mahiques and reaches the source of the Nava. The next stop on the itinerary is to the Micairent source, where you will find a recreational area, a hydraulic mill and two rafts. The path continues along the path from the mill garden to the water mine known as the Alcabor de Remigio. From this unique element, it is worth highlighting the gallery, covered with a truly very unique cadiraire lap. The itinerary arrives at its starting point after passing through the Baix fountain.

Cardinal’s and Fontanars’s, etc. This trail starts in the park of October 9 of Atzeneta d’Albaida, has a medium difficulty (with a slope of 276 m) and is conveniently signposted. It has explanatory panels and interpretation tables of the different resources that you will find along the way. It is therefore a must visit to discover the protected natural area of the ‘Umbría del Benicadell’, where you will surely be surprised by the panoramic views of the Vall d’Albaida and the Benicadell mountain range, with the majestic summit presiding over to the east.

Description:
The location of the snow pits in the Salem Mountains and the rest of the Vall d’Albaida reflects the geography of the snowy rainfall of the time. From Salem (365 m) to the Barcella’s top (756 m) you will find a set of six wells or cavas, between very worked snow pits and simple holes or blizzards: the snow pit of the ‘Castellet’ (or of the Barcella), the Paller, the one of the Frontó, the path of Castelló, the path of the Port and that of the ‘Clot’ of the pla de la Sima. From Salem, you will have to go back through the Barcella’s source and the ravine of the Caves (of archaeological importance) to the Sastre’s shed, where you will enjoy magnificent views of the rock of the Benicadell. You will link with the forest track that goes up to the Barcella’s top
from the ‘port’ of Salem, a place where the snow pits of the Paller and the ‘Castellet’ stand out. The Paller’s snow pit (756 m) is one of the most spectacular constructions in the entire Valencian Community, due to its size (13 m in exterior diameter) and for the solidity of the architectural work. From this point, you can enjoy the most privileged panorama of the Salem city, presided over by the imposing summit of the Benicadell, the rest of the Vall d’Albaida and the Comtat de Cocentaina with the Albufereta de Gaianes and the Beniarrés swamp. At first glance, you can also distinguish the Barcella’s top and its characteristic silhouette. Before, we will have to return the way along the forest track, where we will highlight the remains of an ancient Iberian sanctuary, now lost among the undergrowth. At the top of the Barcella or the ‘Castellet’, the first one that catches the eye is precisely the remains of the ancient Islamic castle of the XII-XIII centuries. At the foot of the castle we find the snow pit of the ‘Castellet’ or Barcella, where the climbing route ends.

Description:
On the itinerary you will find spectacular views of the ‘Umbría del Benicadell’ and a crossroads, will take you to the raft of Monxereví, passing by a watering hole, eyes that remain and the raft of Elca one of the largest of the Vall d’Albaida. In the recreational area of the source of Elca, you can see magnificent views of the Barcella Mountain range. Later you will find the raft of the Casals, which fed on the mother raft and, finally, you will find the crossroads that will lead you back to the town.

follows: The main part of the trail would be a circular route through the surroundings of the Benicadell, from which up to four different variants can be made that complement the base route.

The path starts between two mountains and enters through the ravine that separates them. In a moment, you will find the Arriero source and after a climb, you will reach the source of the ‘Anoueret’, from where you can look at the village of Atzeneta that you will leave behind. Always on the way up, you will reach the ‘pla de En Roda’, a rounded space, in the middle of the mountains, delicately sculpted from olive terraces and very careful stone margins. We highlight the remains of two old mountain houses, one of which still preserves the structure of a raft with a fountain that drips the rainy years. Then, along a dirt road, you will find the Penalba barnyard. From this point, you will be able
to observe the different snow pits, you will find a total of six during the tour. Later, in the so-called Diego barnyard, you can get out of the way and take the road on the left. At 1 km, you will find the Cold source, last point of water to the summit. At the same junction, on the right, there is the possibility of linking by the ravine of Fontanars towards the Covalta and Montcabrer. Higher up you will reach the three very interesting snow infrastructures, as well as the remains of the shed of En Miquel. The path is narrow and meandered by strapping, honeysuckle, “orons”, mastic, holm oak, cornicabras, strawberry tree, juniper and durillos. Finally, you will find the inlet of the snow pit that rises at the foot of the dear Benicadell. There is little left to touch the summit, it takes one last effort on an abrupt path. Some say that, if the day is clear, you can see the sea and even the island of Ibiza.

The route by ‘les Penyes Albes’ starts in the municipality of Terrateig, in the Square of the Font. The municipality has intercity transport via the Gandía - Muro de Alcoy bus line. From the Square of the Font, you ascend towards the mountain range by the forest track of the ‘pla de les Fontetes’. Along the upward path you can see several elements of the ethnological heritage such as: the Town’s source, the riuraus, the third arch of the Mill of Micairent, the municipal washing place, the source of Llaunaix and the ruins of several stone barnyards. At the top of the mountains, at the point known as the knoll of ‘Sant Jaume’ (579 m), you
can see stunning views of the region. At this point, the route links to the forest track of the ‘pla de les Fontetes’ and then arrives at a detour to the Silvestre barnyard. Next, you’ll meet in the recreational area of the ‘pla de les Fontetes’, which has several picnic tables and a fountain. It is a landscaped space with a pleasant shade where you can rest. The itinerary continues along the forest track of ‘les Revoltes’, already in the municipality of Montitxelvo. Following the route you reach the Forest Refuge of the Planissa and the Blanc barnyard. It is a zigzag descent that saves a slope of 150 m. You will have to continue the path from the Blanc barnyard to the recreational area of the Mill of Micairent, where you can link with the local path SL-CV 84 water route. From here take the forest track of terrateig path, where you will return at its starting and end point of the journey.

You will soon see the ruins of the castle of Vinalopó above on the left and, a little further on, you will pass through the Brulls where the vegetation becomes increasingly leafy. Although the first waters of the Vinalopó are born about 6 km rambla up in the pla de Bodí, the best known spring, the so-called “birth of the Vinalopó” or source of the Coveta that is to the left of the road, an ideal place to make a stop and cool off. A few meters down, walking now on your right until you see the chimney of the Arriba mill, you have to cross the river. Since the fifteenth century there is news of a textile fuller at this point, which would be flour mill in the XVII, paper factory from 1781 to 1943 and wool flock factory in the second half of the twentieth century. Annex you will find the Bajo mill or Blanes factory. Here you can follow a pedestrian walkway that will help you to get closer to the Blue Puddle a few meters below the course of the river. The return you have to make it by the forest track, passing the Altet farmhouse and between the beautiful farmhouse and the hermitage of Guilella la Nueva and that of Guilella la Vieja.

The GR-7 crosses the municipality of Ontinyent on the western side, from the path of the Pla de la Balarma. Then look for the Puerto’s house and go down to the Alianda, crossing the CV-660 Fontanars dels Alforins road in Ontinyent. You will have to go down the azagador of the pla and cross the ravine of the Rasa hill, which has a great biological richness, by an iron bridge of a dizzying height. When you get the Tomàs House, you will have to leave the road to go down to the ravine of Morera, in front of this house. After climbing the ravine, cross the CV-665 through the Umbría and pass through the Morera source, which has abundant water throughout the year. When passing the Martines barnyard you have to go down to the ravine of ‘la Vall Seca’ to find the source of the ‘Teula’ and the ‘Venta Vieja’. In front of this house, you can see a path that enters the mountains, crossing dry benches until connecting with the path of the Engineers, which is guessed all over the Umbrian slope. Following the path of the Engineers and at the height of the Ballester ravine, the GR-7 leaves this path to look for the Ballester source and the path that through
the house of Ponce reaches the municipality of Bocairent, in search of the house of the Olive, and then to the Buenavista house, enjoying the panoramic that offers us the Mariola mountain range and the ‘valleta de Agres’. Once you have crossed the CV-81 road and the Portell ravine, you will enter territory that is part of the Mariola mountain range, declared a Natural Park. Keep moving forward to meet the hermitage and the house of Santa Barbara and the Pla source. The road is now more good, since we advance along a forest track, without almost slopes, among pines and very preserved holm oaks, to reach the campsite of ‘les Fonts’ of Mariola and something later to the Mariola source, enabled as a recreational area. After you have drunk from this emblematic source, you will have to head towards the last stretch of the GR-7 as it passes through the region of Vall d’Albaida, since after reaching ‘dels Arbres’ farmhouse, the path enters the region of l’Alcoià, and later the Comtat, in search of a mythical peak such as Montcabrer. This path is very interesting from a landscape point of view, since from the Solana and Umbría you can see the cultivated agricultural farms of the center of the Valley. This path was born on the CV-81 road from Ontinyent to Bocairent, at the 7.5 kilometric point, at the height of the ravine ‘dels Tarongers’ and together with the “cagalló” of the Giant. It begins to climb a few steps of work, crosses a pine forest and enters to the summit through an area of thicket, where the unique rock formations and folds of the ravine of Bocairent or the Adern are distinguished. The Path of the Remallar begins and ends at Gamellons’ house. Very delimited by stone walls, it passes under the unique rock of the eagle, where it seems that the path has been excavated in the same rock. Here you will have to go through the ravine of the Ollas, among a dense vegetation, until you reach the ravine of Hell, where the landscape becomes wider and wider with a large vegetation dominated by young pines and kermes oak. You will arrive at the track of the Replana, which you will not leave until the marked deviation of the source of the Dueña. But first, you will find on the left a path, next to the hunting ground plate, that will lead you to the source of the Simeta, place of birth of water among caves.
The fountain of the Dueña is a place where you will find a pleasant and leafy corner with some tables and different vegetation, which invites you to spend a moment of calm before returning. You’ll have to pick up the track you’ve arrived for about 500 yards. Here you will find to the north the path of the Enginyers (PR-CV 121) that passes through the Cava, two overlapping underground galleries that collected the rainwater and stored it. From this moment and after crossing the road that leads to the Pinós, the path will take you through the ravine ‘dels Cordellers’ and Hell, some places of pine forests of recovery. Finally, about 200 m before arriving at the Gamellons house and next to the same path, there is the cave of the Nun, a shallow cave where stalactite formations are hinted. Near the Gamellons house you will find the source of the same name, an area with paelleros and services where you can camp, if the relevant authorization is requested in advance. The tour starts at Ontinyent Cemetery, a few meters from the start of the track that goes up to the Torrater. The path is recognized by the stone walls that delimit it. It advances, first, between well-formed pines and then by stonier terrain. In this section you will find several paths that go up to the top of the Ollas, in 12 minutes, and to the Torrater track in 50 minutes. Later, you will leave the path of the Enginyers to go down the one you will find on the left, a path that will take you to the source of the Maciana, crossing some very thick pine forests. The fountain of the Maciana is a recreational area with water, shade and paelleros, highly appreciated by the people of Agullent and the vicinity, who come there to enjoy nature. The path continues through the track that goes down to Agullent, going through green pines and leaving to your
left the path that leads to the hermitage of San Vicente, in 12 minutes, until linking with the track where the Patge fountain is located. Located on a wide part of the road, it has water, shade and a table. Continue the track through a landscape of abundant vegetation, from where you can see the terms of Benissoda, Agullent and Albaida until you reach the path that will lead you to the foot of the Covalta. Start a gentle climb, which leaves at the foot of the mountains the hostel Don Bosco and the house el Clau. On the left you will find the track that goes up from this house until you reach the path, which in half an hour will take you to the foot of the Covalta. Now, the climb is harder on a regeneration slope, after the forest fires suffered in the region. Slowly, you will see more villages and, when you reach the top of it, you will find a very defined panorama of the Benicadell mountain range, which is located right in front. La Covalta is a natural cave from where you can enjoy a great view and also a fountain that will allow you to cool off after the steep climb.

Description: The route starts on the track that from the CV-81 road between Bocairent and Ontinyent enters the Tarongers ravine . After the water supply well and the source of the ravine ‘dels Tarongers’ you will find a path, on the right, that after surrounding the mill of Patiràs that runs along the river bank. Cross the river on the side of the Lluna mill and start a climb to a high-voltage tower. When you start to go down you will leave on the left the SL-CV 9 path of Castellar that rises to the top of Castellar, in 20 minutes. The path continues
to cross the river again (now with water) and reaches the Pep Joan mill. At this point, the path continues to leave a path on the left. The mill retains a waterwheel of large dimensions and, on the other hand, you will access in a few minutes a fountain where you can provide water. Following the path and when you reach the house of Beneyto take a path that you will find on the left, which goes up cutting its path on the rocks until you reach near the hermitage of San Antonio, next to Bocairent. From here you can make an extension (30 minutes), to the urban center of Bocairent for brunch, lunch or visit its medieval quarter; the bullring, sculpted on stone, or ‘les Covetes dels Moros’. Back to the point of the previous trail, you will have to follow the path that now ascends through the highest part of the mountains, seeing panoramic views of Bocairent, the valleta de Agres and the northern slope of the Mariola mountain range. The path goes down, passing through a fitting on the rock until you reach the road, which crosses the bridge next to the Pas mill. From here you can return to the starting point, by the road, traveling 1.1 km. Start a short but intense climb, which connects with the Torrater pathway, by which you have to go down until you reach the proximity of the cemetery of Ontinyent, where the PR-CV 121 starts. In the area of the ravine ‘dels Tarongers’ there is the possibility of climbing with established tracks.

You have to get out of Agullent behind the Jordana fountain. In the background, on the left side of the ravine, begins an upward and winding path. At about 400 m you have to take the PR-CV 121: Path of the Engineers, in the east towards the Covalta; about 20 m, on the right, continues along the path of Agres. At the first revolt you can see the Peña Lisa and on the right the hermitage of San Vicente. By continuing in the same direction you will gather to border the ravine of the Penyascals. Continue with a zigzag until you reach the Carrils plain. As you pass through this plain, you will access the forest track, called Cuco’s path. Then on the left, about 100 m, you will have to leave it on the right to enter into a
young pine forest that will take you to the top of the Filosa and, from there, until you reach a new forest track. Here, in an east direction, you will arrive at the highest point of the route, the fornet of Verde, a plateau from where you can see the summit of the Covalta and further back the Benicadell; leaves the track at the end of the gravel esplanade. On the left you can take a short tour to the Patge fountain. Continue the path on the right and you will reach the ‘foieta dels Carros’, from where you have to start the descent to the valley of Agres, between pines and old holm oaks. You will arrive at the bridge of the Via where you have to cross the railway line from Valencia to Alcoy and from where you will see the station of Agres, about 150 m on the left. About 400 m further ahead and turning right, you will have to take the station road, which you will leave about 125 m later on the left, to enter the ‘dels Sorts’ path, which will lead you to the farmhouse of the same name. Then you have to climb the Llop (wolf) Ravine until you reach the old Ontinyent Road, which will take you to Agres.

Description: You will have to start the itinerary from the Jordana fountain, a place highly appreciated by the agullentinos to walk and rest on the hot summer afternoons. You will pass through the hermitage of San Vicente Ferrer to climb to the top of the Torrater and the Peña Alta, from where you can see the Mariola mountain range, with the towns of Alfafara and Agres at your feet. From here, descending the Agullent mountain range towards the valley of Agres, you will have the possibility to visit the cave of las Ventanas (25 min approx.). The path continues through the hermitage of the Virgen María de la Luz to Alfafara.

Start the march from the Palace square, where is the Palace of the Malferit marquis, currently town hall, and a 19th century distillery, which has been the official supplier of the royal house. Go down the street of the Primicias or the one of the Virgen María del Carmen towards the Carmen’s gate, old gateway to the town, dating from the sixteenth century. After the gate, you have to turn right and you will quickly reach the washing place; you will go down a steep slope that will take you to the old power plant, where a watering hole is located to cool off. Next, you’ll have to cross the Bridge of Allí Abajo (16th century), which crosses the Clariano River and you
will turn right to skirt the river. You will have to follow this path for about 5 minutes until you reach a short path that will take you up to the Arcade Bridge, an aqueduct that transfers water from one part of the river to the other. Cross the bridge and continue the narrow margin of the ditch until you reach the passage zone, about 100 m below. Continue along a rural path until you reach a new fork, where you cross the path of the Umbría. Continue on the left, on a new path that will take you to the peak of the Umbría mountain range where the stretch of the path begins. The trail ascends until you reach the Molló de las Mentiras from where you can observe a splendid panoramic with the White caves and the Fos, as well as the remains of an Iberian village. Take up the path of the Umbría, go down to the ravine of Joncar and the Barceloneta. Finally, you’ll access the town again.

The tour starts in the hermitage of Santo Engracio, on the CV-2017 road towards Moixent. About 1 km from the town you will find the indicator of the path. To the right of the path is the cave of Porçons, from where you can see a fantastic panoramic of the entire Vall d’Albaida, Montcabrer and Benicadell. After walking about 30 minutes start the route to the top of the Solana, where you will find a branch to the right. If you take it, you’ll go to the place of the Conilla fountain. To continue with the tour you will have to go back and continue again upwards.
After 20 minutes more, you will pass through a small wooden refuge and arrive at the top of the Solana, ideal place to make a stop and replenish forces. From this point, if you look south, you will find a magnificent view of the valley mountains, the Mariola and a little further east Aitana; to the north, you will see the Hoya Redonda, the mountains of the Costera and, a little to the west, the Caroig’s Massif. From here, the path gently goes down to the Hoya Redonda, from where you can continue to the end of the path and continue along the forest track in the opposite direction, to the west. At the end of the forest track, you will arrive at Campello. Continue along the road towards Moixent and about 10 minutes turn left on a new forest track. If you continued along the road towards Moixent, you will link about 3 km with the GR-7.

Again located on the forest track, start the ascent towards the Strait, and on the right you will have a nice view of the Campello and the surrounding mountains. When you reach the top, you will be able to observe the northeast area of the Vall d’Albaida (Benigànim, the Strait of Bellús, l’Olleria, etc.). For the descent, you will have to leave on the left the head of the ravine of Joncar and the hut of Barrera and you will reach where the track ends. Continue for about 300 meters along a small path through the middle of the mountain range that starts between four pine trees next to a hunter’s pit. You will arrive at the Maset House, you will have to border it in the highest area and you will pass near a raft of water for irrigation. Continue to come down until you reach almost the house, which you will leave on the left, and around a field of olive trees you will be able to access one of the few areas with trees that remain after the fires. Crossing among pines and rosemary bushes until you reach a paved road, the Maset-Palleret road, which you no longer have to leave until you reach the town. You will pass the ravine of the Joncar and, on the right before crossing it, you will find the source of Cotra. You will enter the town and in the background you will see, between the Umbría and the Serratella, the Arcade Bridge. At the end of The Street of San Vicente, there is a small viewpoint from where you can see the old neighborhood of Barceloneta and, further down, the old hydroelectric plant on the edge of the Clariano river.

the route. Then you have to get on the coast road (from here you can reach the town of Ontinyent in just 3 km) and you have to take the path in front. Continue along the path that, on the right, will take you to the Perdiguera House. Then you have to cross the CV-655 road and about 50 meters to the right take the path that goes up to the hostel of Riello, shelter of hunters open where you can spend the night. At the crossroads, take the one on the left, which follows the same level. About 800 meters, the road ends and continues a path to the right, it crosses the ravines of the Eagle and Palacios until reaching the plain of Quincaller. The path in front of you goes down the ravine of the PeĂąa Roja (rock Red) to the ravine of the Tarongers, from where you can link with other routes (PR-CV 122 and SL-CV 9). Also, from the top of the Quincaller and in a northerly direction, you can go down to the path of the Vuelta and the Pou Clar. But the route continues right up from where you will see the Natural Park of The Mariola. Arriving at the hermitage of the Holy Christ of Bocairent, our tour ends. In Bocairent you can link with the GR-7. Then you have to climb the Llop (wolf) Ravine until you reach the old Ontinyent Road, which will take you to Agres.

The trail starts in the city center of Aielo de Malferit, the pedestrian promenade by the Clariano River. From the point of the viewpoint where the information panel of the beginning of the path is located, leaving the river on the left, begins the tour through this pedestrian area that in a few meters will take you to the gate of Carmen and the municipal washing place, in good condition. You have to go straight until you meet the power plant, where there is a drinking water source, and the Middle Bridge. From here you have to cross the river in a southerly direction and
a few meters you will link with the old route of the SL-CV 11. The road continues straight along a stretch of asphalt that changes in a few meters to a dirt road where you will always continue straight in a south direction where you see the cross at the top of the mountain. After a few meters and having passed some crossing, the path becomes a pathway that goes back a steep slope to the aforementioned cross of the Serratella through which you will pass and from where you can observe good panoramic views of the town. From here begins the descent in a southwest direction, along a steep path that takes advantage of the steps installed on the rock to facilitate traffic. The path dies on a small road where there is a recreational area called Arcade bridge, from where you have to turn left until you find another stick through which you have to go twice. The direction of the proposed march will take you to cross the bridge along the channel and, just at the end,

start ascending the steps and the steep path to the left in a southerly direction, just where the large zip line that is installed ends. The path will take you ascent to a point where you will descend a few meters next to a Tibetan bridge that they have installed to continue along the steep path. About 50 meters from the aforementioned bridge in an east direction, you will find the crossing that will take you to the White Cave, a must-see. From the cave you return to the previous point to continue the itinerary along the steep path until the next crossing, which will take you to the cave of the Fos. As in the previous one, you have to go back to the detour crossing along the same route and from here continue the route in west direction until, about 50 meters, you reach the detour of the Molló de las Mentiras. Continue the pathway in a west and rising direction until you get to link again with the SL-CV 11 to turn left in search of a narrow and degraded path, already in the municipality of Ontinyent, which you will continue on the descent until you reach a building where you will find an old wine cave, the Gerres Cave, where it is intended to install an interpretive lectern of the content. In this area, known as the Clariana, you will take the asphalt on the left for about 200 meters, until you reach the side of the Clariano River. Just when you cross it you will have to take the left direction along the open path next to the bed of this river to continue about 700 meters until you first reach the Assut and, immediately, to the Mata mill. From here continue the journey through the wall of the ditch that will take you back to its point that we mentioned before through which you would pass twice, to take a downhill path with steps that will take you to the riverbed through which you will travel until you reach the Middle Bridge, the power plant and the aforementioned source. From here, to continue the path, you have to climb up by the east wall
of the power plant to surround it and pass next to the old water drop pipes of the power plant. You will soon reach a path next to some houses and shortly a paved road in coincidence again with the SL-CV 11. The itinerary heads towards the urban center of Aielo de Malferit. First you will pass through the neighborhood of Barceloneta and then through the rest of the population passing through the liquor factory “Destilerías Ayelo”, worthy of visiting to be almost a museum in operation. From the square where the factory is located you have to continue south towards the gate of Carmen to cross it and reach the busy pedestrian walk that will take you, on the left, to the start panel of the path.

The path begins, within the urban area, on the street of Camino de la Sierra (the mountain range pathway). At about 400 m you will find barnyards formerly destined for sheep and goat cattle, from where you will leave the the mountain range pathway to start upwards in search of the place of the Solana or Cara-sol de los Corrales. Then you’ll get to the Collet del Inglés. You will have to take the path on the left and go up slowly until you meet the summit of Molló (417 m). After 45 minutes on the way you will reach the Banyeta barnyard that connects with the trail of Umbria de Torrella (SL-CV 39); you have to leave it on the left and continue down to the Collao which will lead you back to the mountain range pathway. A few meters from the crossing, you will find the recreational area of the Engolidors Plain, where you can fill the canteens and rest before
continuing the march until you reach the house of the Andamio, municipal hostel for tourist use that has a natural classroom for schoolchildren. About 5 minutes away you will find the exit of the mountain range pathway and about 200 m you will find the beginning of the ‘Escaló’ trail. From this point you have to get back on the path, which will lead you to the Falaguera water pit, a hole 25 m deep where the water is never missing and the house of Uncle Honorio, the last herbalist of Quatretonda that made recipes with herbs to cure ailments. You will have to continue on the left of the house and along the edge of the ravine upwards you will reach the plain of Peña, from where you can see the Vall d’Albaida, the Benicadell, the Safor, the Puig Campana and the ‘valleta’ of Pinet. In the middle of this plain, you will reach the junction that connects to the path of the Falls of Pinet, to go down to the Collet del Aire. You have to take the itinerary that passes through the “Carasol de l’Avenc” and that connects with the trail of the “Cossis” and that of the Ravine of the Rabbits (‘Barranco de los Conejos’). By a little descent you will reach the “Collet de Toni” that links with the the Rabbits Ravine trail. After passing through a house and crossing the trail of l’Avenc, you will arrive at the fountain of l’Avenc and the “Collet del Aire”. Leaving on the left the trail of the Avenc and in 10 minutes you will link with the mountain range pathway, to the place known as the “Febra” (Fever). Go on and, a few meters away, you have to take the path on the right towards Miquel’s shed. After a slight climb you will reach the “Carasol de les Voltes” to enjoy magnificent views of the Vall d’Albaida. From here, in a few minutes, you will have reached the “Collet del Inglés”, end of the itinerary.

the first mountain ranges of the Safor. To the southeast, the peak of the Cuta stalks you. On the right comes a trail that takes you to Honda (Deep) Cave. Following the wide path and a few meters, on the left, is the deposit of the Catalana, in poor condition. You’ll get to Rafael de Bota’s shed. You have to turn left right there. Going up a path also wide but difficult and passing through the “Carabassera”, you have to go to the ridge of the ravine of Batla Mala, poorly called the ravine of the “Maricón”, and on the west slope you will ascend towards the Puig Agut, geodesic point at more than 500 m altitude. You have to deviate, when you have already passed sight of the peak, by a very narrow and dirty path on the right indicated by a lot of stones. In about 10 minutes you’ll be upstairs. It is worth climbing if the the west wind blows, from the summit you can see, clockwise: to the north, the high of the “Lletrera”; to the northeast, the Montdúver; to the east, the island of Ibiza and the Montgó; to the southeast, the peak of La Safor and Cuta; to the south, the Serrella, Aitana and the rock “el Barco”; southwest, the Benicadell and Montcabrer; to the west, Llutxent with the whole Vall d’Albaida and, to the southwest, the “Migdia” rock. After taking the relevant photos, you can go down to continue the march. You will have to head upwards, towards the “Cobijo” rock, which protects you from the west, and where the siliceous earth abounds and, consequently, the thyme. It is a good place to have lunch and observe the magnificent panoramic views offered by the “Batla Mala” ravine, a place where water sources abound and, in addition, you can see the Mediterranean. The last effort will push you up the Marxuquera Mountain range, where the landscape is a delight to behold. As you
continue the journey you will reach the field of “Viscaio” and on the right the hollow of “Bruno”. Without deviating, you will have to walk about 2 kilometers and, before reaching the «Diario» hut, you must deviate along a trail to the left. Slow down. You will realize the capacity of the Valencian forest to regenerate itself. Through the “Malladeta del Sapo” you will come to a crossroads. If you go to the right, you will end up at the Rafal fountain. You have to take the one on the left to calmly climb to the top of Barreras. You will be able to contemplate the immensity of the Vall d’Albaida, the Llutxent mountain ranges and, above all, the Rafal. You will have to face the path below and stop along with a lime kiln, called del Moro, since they cooked it to carry out the Moors and Christians festival for a year. Take the path and you will quickly reach a wide path that will take you to the Corral del Gordo or Català. You will have to continue to the left among olive, almond and some carob trees. Go through the “Siscaret” below (Barnyard of Santouet, Plain of Simeta, Barnyard of Murillo and Bataller) until you reach the paved road and continue to follow it to the town.

You will have to start this second stage of the Route leaving the town of Almiserà by the Barniza street and by the path to the cemetery. Afterwards, you will take the path of the carob trees of “Tío García” and then, turning left, you will begin to ascend the Marxuquera Mountain range along the path of the Eretes. You will arrive at the highest part of the mountain range, known as the Red field, from where you will be able to observe the walls of the castle of Vilella (of Muslim origin, dated from the 12th century and means “deserted land”). You will have to leave the castle behind to enter the Valley through the Eretes path, which connects with the Catalana path, which will lead you
to Llutxent, specifically to Avenue of València, where you will find the Tourist Info of Llutxent on the right and to the left the Mont Sant’s Avenue. Continue on this avenue in the direction of Pinet and on the left you will see the Calvary, which will lead you to the Hermitage of Consolation (dated 1772 and highlights the plinth of the chapel that contains the story of the Miracle of the Corporales) and from there you will access the Corpus Christi monastery (15th century). From the back of the convent, the path of the Old Castle is born, which takes you directly to the castle of Xio of the s. XII. From here you have to descend until you reach the Castle’s ravine. Then, you will go through some fields of almond and orange trees. The route will take you to the Bancalets barnyard. From this point the ascent begins, in a zigzag, along the path of the Arenales plain, recovered for the route of the Monasteries. At the top you can enjoy magnificent views of the Vall d’Albaida and Benicadell. The path now runs flatter until you reach the Avenc’s pinewood, located at the foot of the Aire Hill, where you will come to a forest track that will narrow until it becomes the path that will reach Pinet. From Pinet you can continue to Barx where the route of the monasteries continues or discover the places of Pinet such as: the Noon rock, the Carpi’s top, the Flat Hill, the ravine and the Castellet

fountain and, even, the protected natural space called the ‘Surar of Pinet’.
This stage is the second of the four that make up the Route of the Monasteries, which goes from Gandia to Alzira, and passes through the Vall d’Albaida between Llutxent and Pinet. This route connects the regions of the Safor, the Vall d’Albaida and the Ribera covering 17 municipalities in the province of Valencia (Gandía, Almoines, Beniarjó, Beniflá, Palma de Gandía, Ador, Alfauir, Rótova, Lloc Nou de Sant Jeroni, Almiserà, Llutxent, Pinet, Barx, Simat de la Valldigna, Benifairó de la Valldigna, la Barraca d’Aigües Vives and Alzira). Through the GR-236, you will be able to cross old paths of medieval origin (such as the ‘Paso del Pobre’), cattle trails, royal roads, mountain trails, rural roads and old railways, in addition to seeing five monasteries: Sant Jeroni de Cotalba (Alfauir), Corpus Christi (Llutxent), La Valldigna (Simat de la Valldigna), Aigües Vives (Barraca d’Aigües Vives) and Arrayán (Alzira).
