CHANUKA APPEAL How can we raise over £500,000 annually to meet the growing needs of the Kehilla? We paid more than £4,000 in bills today, but we still have several thousand pounds' worth of bills to be paid, and new bills keep coming in every day. Unlike many campaigns, we don’t ask the recipients for anyhing, except perhaps to say some Tehillim and Daven that we can continue helping. Nonetheless, we find ourselves needing to raise more money than many other campaigns.

Some families struggle to afford food, clothing, and shoes. Others lack essential appliances or necessary furniture. Some can't afford gas and electricity, while others require medical professionals, therapists, or counselors for themselves or their children. The charity is expanding rapidly, and bills for thousands of pounds are arriving weekly. While we can't share all the distressing details, please believe us when we say that we have witnessed a great deal of suffering. Numerous average families are also reaching out for help to survive. Chanukah is a time for Tzedakah, a time to bring light to families facing dark challenges. If you are seeking Zechusim or a Yeshuah, rest assured that your contribution will go to a good place - where Hashem dwells - with the humble and less fortunate. If you wish for a Brocha for your family, extend a Brocha to another family. A letter we received this week: Dear Kehilla, Please take a moment to consider those less fortunate - those who fill their shopping carts with essential items, only to discover at the checkout that they lack enough money in their purse or their card has been declined. In such instances, the cashier decides what items to remove, leaving the individual embarrassed. We manage on a single basic salary. How can we cover expenses like rent, electricity, gas, phone bills, mobile charges, and council tax? We rely on hand-me-downs and are grateful for the assistance from Oneg Shabbos and Tomchei Shabbos. However, what do we do when the dryer or washing machine breaks down, or there is a blockage in the pipes? How can we afford that? The butchers allow me to run a tab up to £100, but what happens after that? Consider a situation where a child develops an ingrown toenail due to tight shoes. Should we prioritize buying new shoes over Shabbos food? Some children require private medications and visits to the doctor. Now, with Chanukah, there is a bombardment of advertisements showcasing new toys and games, and sales. How can we manage to purchase these? Schar limud (educational institutions) and moisdos (organizations) are sending bills, making calls, and sending reminders.
