from the president|ceo Delivering a Return on Your Investment This month, our annual membership survey is underway to give you an important opportunity to share your perspectives on topics that can drive the work of our Chamber. I hope that you will take 10 minutes to complete it. The results will first be presented at our Annual Retreat & Leadership Conference to our Board and Committee members as well as key partners who are critical to the Chamber's successful work on behalf of our members. Several of the questions on the survey allow us to track trends related to our regional workforce, economic outlook, and top business issues, among others. It is always interesting to me to analyze shifts - and it is a priority to consider how the Chamber can adapt our work to be an even more valuable resource for our members. In this month's issue of the Current you will read about two seminar/panel discussion opportunities that can help you and your team navigate the topic of AI from a few different angles. For me, it can feel overwhelming as I am constantly bombarded with conflicting information that tells me to both love and hate AI's impacts. One of the coolest things about our Chamber is the level of expertise we have within our membership! In August and September you can take advantage of that expertise to learn valuable insights into AI and take that information back to your organization to help with efficiency, effectiveness, and knowledge. Top of mind this month is the importance of encouraging you to exercise your right to vote during the Primary Elections. We asked candidates running for State Senate and House of Representatives, County Commission, and School Board to share information about their priorities with our Chamber membership through a questionnaire. You can read their answers on our website. You will find good reminders about dates and deadlines on the facing page as well as information on how to connect with the Supervisor of Elections Office in Manatee County if you have elections-related questions. We also hosted a "Meet the Candidates" event in July with several partner business organizations from across Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Collectively, more than 300 members from our region attended to learn more about the women and men running to represent us in elected office. As we like to say, "Get out and vote - it's your business!"

education & workforce Help Prepare Students for Financial Success Volunteer for the Big Bank Theory The Manatee Chamber’s Big Bank Theory gives high school seniors a firsthand look at the financial realities of adult life. Through an engaging, hands-on simulation, students learn essential money management skills, including budgeting, saving, paying bills, and making informed spending decisions. More than just a classroom lesson, Big Bank Theory challenges students to navigate real-world financial scenarios and understand the impact of everyday spending choices. The experience helps build financial confidence and prepares young adults for future success.

We Need You The success of Big Bank Theory relies on the support of dedicated community and business volunteers whose participation can make a lasting difference in a student's understanding of personal finance. coffee club More Than Pickleball: A Community Hub for Wellness and Connection The Pickleball Club at Lakewood Ranch recently welcomed Manatee Chamber members for Coffee Club, giving attendees the opportunity to explore a facility that has quickly grown into much more than a destination for pickleball. Guests toured the expansive recreation and wellness center, connected with fellow Chamber members, and learned how the club is bringing together sports, health, and community under one roof. Since celebrating its first year under new ownership, The Pickleball Club at Lakewood Ranch has expanded its offerings to include basketball and volleyball programming, youth development initiatives, wellness and recovery services, tournaments, leagues, and community partnerships. The facility continues to evolve as a gathering place where individuals,

families, businesses, and organizations can stay active, build relationships, and strengthen community connections. Hosting Coffee Club reflected the organization’s commitment to supporting the local business community while showcasing the role recreation can play in fostering collaboration, networking, and healthy lifestyles. “Our success is measured not only by what happens on the courts, but by the connections we create, the lives we impact, and the community we help build,” said Matt Lund, CEO. “We’re proud to be a place where people come together to connect, grow, and thrive.”

coffee club Where Memorable Gatherings Begin Court Langley Ranch and New York Life Insurance Company welcomed Manatee Chamber members for June’s Coffee Club, offering attendees a firsthand look at one of the area’s most distinctive event venues. Set on a picturesque property, the ranch combines the charm of its restored Plantation Manor House with expansive event spaces designed to host everything from corporate meetings and team-building experiences to weddings, private celebrations, and large-scale gatherings. During the event, guests learned how Court Langley Ranch creates customized experiences by providing comprehensive event planning, catering, décor, entertainment, and teambuilding opportunities. They also heard from New York Life Insurance Company on how they help individuals, families, and businesses build financial security and confidence for the future through personalized guidance and long-term planning.

Recent renovations to the Plantation Manor House have further enhanced the venue, with continued improvements underway to the property’s barn, landscaping, and grounds. coffee club & non-profit showcase Connecting Business with Purpose: A Morning of Community Impact Our July Coffee Club & Non-Profit Showcase was a tremendous success as we enjoyed a morning filled with community connection, collaboration, and inspiration. More than 200 attendees joined us to network over coffee and breakfast while learning about the important work of 32 local nonprofit organizations. Each organization shared its mission, volunteer opportunities, upcoming initiatives, and the many ways Chamber members can support their work through volunteering, partnerships, advocacy, and charitable giving. The Non-Profit Showcase is one of our favorite annual Coffee Club events because it highlights the organizations that strengthen our community every day. From supporting families and expanding

educational opportunities to protecting our environment, promoting the arts, and improving health and wellness, these organizations make a lasting impact throughout Manatee County. The event provided Chamber members with an opportunity to discover new causes, build meaningful connections, and explore ways to become more engaged in our community. business after hours Creating Second Chances for Pets and the Community Humane Society of Manatee County recently welcomed Manatee Chamber members for Business After Hours, offering guests a behind-the-scenes look at the organization’s mission, services, and exciting plans for the future. An independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Humane Society of Manatee County operates both the Second Chance Adoption Center and a state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot veterinary clinic that provides affordable veterinary care to the public. Each year, the organization helps approximately 600 cats and dogs find loving homes while working to ensure pets throughout the community have access to quality medical care. During the event, attendees learned about the Humane Society’s vision for the future, including plans to replace its current 6,700-square-foot shelter with a new 10,000-square-foot facility. Design work is now underway, with construction anticipated to

be completed in 2028, allowing the organization to expand its impact for the animals and families it serves. The evening also highlighted the importance of community partnerships. For more than 55 years, relationships and collaboration have played a vital role in the Humane Society’s success, and hosting Business After Hours provided another opportunity to strengthen those connections. “We cherish the support of the Manatee County community, the Manatee Chamber, and Chamber members,” shared Executive Director Rick Yocum. “Those relationships have been instrumental to our success and our ability to continue growing services that meet the needs of animals throughout our community.”
