Camps at MPCC

All Youth programs are ages 6-12. For all camps, please pack a snack, lunch, bathing suit and a towel. Each day concludes with swimming at the Community Center. *NEW! Ideaventions Science and Technology Camps! These camps give you the opportunity to explore, invent, experiment, build and much more! Days consist of labs, outdoor education, lunch, crafts and robotics.

GENERAL

Summer Extended Care

Our Extended Care program is a licensed daycare program through the State of Virginia Department of Social Services, and is offered for children currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Summer Extended Care offers two nutritious snacks daily, weekly themes, arts and crafts, weekly field trips as well as games, sports and swimming—all in a fun and supervised environment! Parents are required to attend an orientation prior to beginning Summer Extended Care. Call for orientation dates. You must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization form and health physical form. $50 registration fee as well as $60 activity fee per child required.

Nature Adventures*

Explore nature! Adventure into the wild to discover the natural world as you study animals, insects, soil, plants, trees, rocks and minerals.

Using digital microscopes and naturalist training, hone your skills at observing nature. Campers enjoy the outdoors while learning about environmental sciences. Through research, technology and fieldwork, campers gain experience in a variety specialties ranging from botany and entomology to geology and zoology. No camp 7/4.

This camp will get your child playing and learning the fine skills of a number of different games and sports. Learn a number of sports from soccer and tennis to floor hockey and dodgeball.

In Ancient Egypt, we build pyramids, learn hieroglyphics and dig for Pharaoh's treasure. In Ancient Greece we learn about Odysseus’ adventures and study Demeter’s plants and Poseidon’s seas.
