Juneteenth Commemoration | Naylor Street Sign Unveiling
Join the City of Manassas Park as we celebrate Juneteenth and the unveiling of the Naylor Street Sign in Manassas Park's new downtown! The Department of Parks and Recreation is also holding an event to unveil the new historical plaque at the Naylor Cemetery and honor the family legacy.
What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans.The Emancipation Proclamation was put into effect in 1863, but the last enslaved people would not get word of their freedom until June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas. The US officially recognized Juneteenth as a national holiday in June 2021.
