WELCOME TO THE BUDDY CLUB

This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals with developmental/cognitive disabilities. Join us for arts, crafts, fitness, movies, computers & video games. Access our Wellness Center, enjoy our pool or take a walk in the park! We meet every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-2:30pm.

Only $2 Drop in fee required or just $20 per month.

BUDDY NEWS WE HAVE NEW BUDDIES! The Buddies would like to welcome Naomi, Marianne, Jose & Alex "Oh What A Night" Many of the Buddies joined their friends on May 18th for a fun evening of dining and dancing when they Escaped to Exotic India at the Annual Arc Spring Formal. A fun time was had by all and they were sad to have the evening come to an end.

The Buddies Were All Shook UP! The Buddy Bite program this month was making ice cream in zip lock bags. It was really cool and very easy to do. They combined 1/2 cup milk, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoonful vanilla in a quart zip lock bag and put that bag in a gallon size bag along with ice cubes and 6 tablespoons rock salt and got to shaking. After only 5 minutes they were able to enjoy a yummy ice cream treat. We want to thank the Manassas Junction Giant for donating the ingredients for this activity.

Buddy Thank Yous!

Walgreens (located at the Rt.28 and Sudley Road intersection) kindly donated some chocolate goodies. Another great big thank you to the Rt. 28 Food Lion for their monthly donations of baked goods and gift cards.

JUNE EDITION

MORE BUDDY NEWS Let's Go! We are going to enjoy a field trip to the Mathis Ave. Bowling Alley tentatively set for June 21st. It will cost $3.00. We will leave the center at 10:30am, bowl two games and eat lunch there. Please send $10 to pay for lunch. That will be a total of $13. Brian Hanifin, the Community Center's Recreation Specialist, will be providing transportation in the center's van. The Buddy Club Field Trip Permission Slip/Transportation Release Form will be sent home for the parents to fill out. It has to be filled out before anyone can participate in this activity.

Another Great Party! The Buddies celebrated both Memorial Day and Payton's birthday this month on May 24.

Lauran and her mother Dainne treated us with hot dogs, pop corn and lemonade. Randi and her mom made the birthday cake and everyone wanted the recipe. It was so good!

BUDDY OF THE MONTH Chad is very sociable and friendly. He considers himself quite the "ladies man". He lives in Haymarket with his mother Donna, four cats and one dog. He has three brothers and one sister. He has a niece, Leah, that he loves very much. He is very excited that his Mother has retired after thirty five years as a nurse at Prince William Hospital.

He has worked at the Dominion Valley Giant for almost eight years. He loves his job bagging groceries and meeting the customers.

Chad enjoys traveling with his family. In March he went to Boston with his brother Adam and loved seeing Harvard, Fenway Park and "Cheers". Then in May he and his mother spent eight days at Myrtle Beach swimming, eating and just hanging out.
