The Department of Parks and Recreation maintains Costello Park, the Manassas Park Community Center, Signal Hill Park, Signal Bay Waterpark, Manassas Park City Library, Blooms Park, the City’s historical sites, and block parks. The Community Center features two full basketball courts, an indoor pool, fitness rooms, and rental spaces including a 3,480 sq. ft. banquet hall.

The City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to the provision of quality leisure services for the residents of Manassas Park. Over the years, through the many changes the City has endured, the Department of Parks and Recreation has responded to the growing needs of the community by continuing to support the Governing Body’s vision to be the “Premier Northern Virginia Community to live, work, and raise a family”.

POLICIES

Registration

Registration is on a “first come, first serve basis.” You will only be notified if the class/program is cancelled. Late registrations may be accepted if space is available with no reduction in fee. We encourage registering online at www.ManassasParkCommunityCenter.com.

Forms & Fees

Each class/program must be accompanied by payment. You may register and pay for classes online at www.ManassasParkCommunityCenter.com or in person at the Community Center located at 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, VA 20111. Checks are to be made payable to “City of Manassas Park.” There is a $50 returned check fee for any check returned by the bank. All credit card transactions are assessed a 3% fee.

Cancellations

The Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel any class/ program which does not meet the minimum enrollment. All programs with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled 5 days prior to the program start date.

Non-City Residents

Most of the fee based classes/programs are available to non-city residents at an additional fee. Please see the individual class/program for additional information.

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather the Department of Parks and Recreation will follow the local government cancellation schedule. If classes/programs are cancelled, every attempt will be made to re-schedule the class/program.

Does your event require multiple rooms? Our building is perfect for events that need break out rooms or dressing rooms. Blooms Park is a passive park with 4.25 miles of challenging and rough terrian trails. Blooms Park emphasizes a connection with nature. Wildlife including deer, eagles, foxes, turkeys, snakes, and more roam the park. Visitors should exercise caution when visiting Blooms Park.

These small parks, ranging in size from a quarter acre to one acre, are located in the residential neighborhood of the western area of the City and primarily service the residents local to each site. Block Parks are open year round from 7:30 am until dusk.

DOG PARK INFORMATION

Costello Park

The Manassas Park Dog Park features a large and small dog run for your pets to exercise and interact in a safe environment with other dogs

• Hours: 8:00am-Dusk

• Dogs must be current on all vaccinations.

• Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the dog park.

• For the safety of your dog(s) and other park visitors, choke, prong (pinch), and spike collars are strictly prohibited. If you use these types of collars, remove them before entering the park.

• No children under the age of 16 are permitted unless accompanied by an adult. Children have a tendency to scream and run when excited, which can trigger a dog’s prey drive or natural instinct to chase. For this reason and for the safety of your children, we do not recommend bringing small children and infants into the dog park.

• Aggressive dogs are not permitted on the premises. Dogs must be removed at the first sign of aggression.

• Female dogs in heat are prohibited from entering the park.

• Dogs over six months must be spayed or neutered.

• Dog owners must be in the park and within view of their dogs at all times.

• All off-leash dogs must be under voice control of their owners.

• Dog owners must keep their leash in hand at all times.

• Please do not bring dog food into the park.

• Owner must clean up dog feces. Seal waste in the provided bags before disposing in designated receptacles.

• Fill any holes your dog digs.

• Proof of a current rabies vaccination and license is required upon request of a police or animal control officer. Tags may serve as proof.

• Failure to abide by the park rules may result in loss of privileges or owners may be ticketed.

• Use of dog park is at owners’ and pets’ risk.

Signal Hill is open year round from 7:30am until dusk.

A nationally registered historical landmark, this 8-acre Civil War encampment is located in the Blooms Crossing subdivision adjacent to Cougar Elementary School.

Included in the Camp Carondelet nomination is a Civil War cemetery located in the direct vicinity of Camp Carondelet in the Blooms Crossing subdivision.

A key structure in the Civil War, this is located in the last few remaining acres of the once Union Mill Park near the VRE lot and General’s Ridge Golf Course. This site is not accessible to the general public.

All parks and facilities are open to the public and may be scheduled for specific use through the Parks and Recreation Department. The rental application is a request only, not a guarantee. A Rental Request Application is required for all facility reservations. Special Permits, in addition to the Field Use Application, may be required for after hours events, special events, or group use. Payment must accompany a Rental Request Application. The Department does not accept tentative reservations. Cancellations must be made at least 10 days in advance in order to receive a refund for outdoor rentals. Applications are available at the Manassas Park Community Center. All rentals are subject to availability and must be booked and paid for 10 days in advance of event. Certain restrictions may apply. Deposits are a one time refundable fee. Restrictions may apply.

Field Application: Athletic fields and park grounds are available for rental between March 15th – November 15th to registered leagues and group users. Cost for permits vary on the type of usage and the duration of the request. All spring field usage requests are accepted beginning February 1st of each calendar year for a March 15th – June 30th spring season. All fall field usage requests are accepted beginning July 1st of each calendar year for an August 15th – November 15th fall season.

Ab Workout

Get ready for some great abdominal exercises to strengthen the muscles of the core, spine, and torso. Improve your body’s overall functional strength, balance, and coordination!

Aquasize

This class provides a low-impact, full body exercise while helping you tone your muscles.

Beginner Yoga

Beginners Yoga will cover the fundamentals of yoga poses and breathing techniques. This class will also focus on strength and flexibility as well as breath awareness and relaxation.

Body Sculpting

A lightweight dumbbell workout moved to the beat of the music. Burn calories as you flow through a variety of exercises to sculpt and tone your body! You’ll notice improvements in your muscle tone, posture, balance, and strength.

Boot Camp

Boot Camp is designed for those desiring to increase cardiovascular fitness and increase muscular strength more efficiently. Boot Camp is for the beginner to the advanced enthusiast. Work out in a team environment while challenging yourselves with others to reach your personal fitness goals.

Buddy Yoga

Buddy Yoga will focus on the foundations of yoga while providing plenty of modifications for physically or cognitively disabled adults.

Functional Fitness Flow

In this low impact aqua class, we will use functional exercises to improve your ability to perform everyday activities at home, work or play for years to come. We will use the resistance of the water to challenge the muscles of the body while allowing the buoyancy to ease the strain on the joints. Our goal is for you to remain independent, active, and injury free by increasing muscle strength, balance, flexibility and range of motion.

Kickboxing

This exciting, fast paced, upbeat class is a fusion of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics, all performed rhythmically to music.

Restorative Aquafit

This low impact aqua class uses gentle movements that will help increase flexibility, range of motion, and strength.

Senior Yoga

This gentle yoga class is for individuals 60 years of age and up. Senior yoga will help to increase mobility, inspire tranquility, and promote an overall sense of well being.

Senior Strength and Stretch

ZUMBA® is a program that fuses Latin and International music and dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that help to tone and sculpt the body. It provides a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

Yoga Flow and Yin

This is a combination of gentle vinyasa flow yoga and yin yoga. Tune in to your body and breathe to synchronize breath and movement as you learn to mindfully engage your muscles to support your body with integrity.

Water Walking

Like any water aerobic exercise, water walking is easy on the joints. The water’s buoyancy supports the body’s weight, which reduces stress on the joints and minimizes pain. Water provides 12 times the resistance of air, so as you walk, you’re really strengthening and building muscle.

MPCC Indoor Pool Information

The Manassas Park Community Center natatorium is an NCAA short course certified indoor pool consisting of eight 25 yard lanes, a zero depth entry, and a spa. The pool temperature is maintained at a comfortable 82˚F. Kick boards, pull buoys, and life jackets for patrons are available for use while at the facility. Certain areas of the pool may not be open for public swimming due to swim lessons, group exercise classes, or league rentals.

Signal Bay Water Park (SBWP)

2024-2025 Extended Care

Extended Care follows the licensing standards of the State of Virginia, Department of Social Services. Our Before and After School Care is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade attending Manassas Park City Schools. We offer themed activities, which include arts and crafts, games, sports, and swimming in a fun, supervised environment! At no additional cost, teacher work days, and some holidays are covered by full day care from 6:00am-7:00pm. For daily drop-in information, contact Sam Bryan at S.Bryan@manassasparkva.gov.

Registration and daily drop-in:

• Your child MUST attend City of Manassas Park Schools.

• Pay an $80 non-refundable annual registration fee.

• Submit a Payment Selection form.

◊WCRB Ninja Warrior Class◊

(Ages 6-13) WCRB’s Ninja Warrior Class is for junior ninjas in training! With emphasis on courtesy, discipline, and respect, students will work on balance and flexibility while using ninja defensive tools, techniques, and WCRB Karate. This fun-filled and fast-paced class also helps them with hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness using nunchakus and other child-safe weapons. This is a white-toblack-belt class with testing two to four times a year.

$50/month for one class a week; $80/month for two classes a week; $100/month for three or more classes a week. Classes end in June.

◊WCRB Youth Mixed Martial Arts◊

(Ages 6-13) WCRB’s Youth Mixed Martial Arts class is for students with or without prior training. With emphasis on courtesy, discipline, and respect, students will learn a mixture of several different art forms. This Youth MMA program is combined with our Academic Excellence program for maximization of your child’s learning experience. This is a white-to-back belt class with testing two to four times a year.

School Age Summer Camps

There is no better place to be than MPCC for summer camps! An array of themes, sports, and fun activities provide campers with exciting and fun memory-making moments. Ninja Warrior Challenge Camp

With their newly learned skills, campers they will participate in a challenge at the end of a week of Ninja training! They will learn acrobatics, proper use of Ninja equipment (foam safety and Nerf), Martial Arts, and more!

Manassas Park Teen Passport

Welcome to the Teen Passport specifically for teens in 6th-12th grades! The Teen Passport membership is $20.00 per month. Teens can earn points toward their Teen Passport each month with good grades, community service, and by volunteering. When a teen earns 20 points, their next month is FREE!

Passport Includes: Access to the gym, pool, recreational programs, instructional classes, and more! Plus take advantage of the Teen Center, featuring computers, a TV, PS4, Xbox, foosball, and ice hockey table!

No Passport? No Problem! We want every teen to be able to take advantage of all of our programs! Non-members may enroll in any class individually by paying the $2.00 drop-in rate.

Teen ID Policy: Teens between ages 12-15, including those without memberships, will need to be issued a Community Center

Teen ID in order to access the facility without a parent or guardian. Teens will be required to leave their ID at the front desk when they enter the building and retrieve it when they exit the building. Teens who do not retrieve their ID when exiting the building must pay a $5.00 drop-in on their next visit.

Need a little extra help with homework? Our Recreation Leaders are here to help you succeed! Bring your questions to us and we’ll work together to help you understand assignments better or prepare for tests.

Mindfulness

Have you heard the saying “YOLO (you only live once)” or “living in the moment”? Our passionate instructors will teach you the basics of maintaining awareness of your feelings, thoughts, and surrounding environment. We will provide all materials for journaling as well as take-home activities to practice.

Walking Club

If you’re not a big fan of running or playing sports, but still want to exercise, then I have the perfect workout for you- walking! Did you know that walking can have similar benefits to running? (Ages 14+) Naginata is an ancient Japanese weapon used by Samurai men and women. This class is taught by Sensei Djinn and will teach you the martial art form of Atarashii Naginata. All experience levels welcome. Loaner equipment is available. A onetime registration fee of $60 is required. Sessions are held monthly. The Sunday class will meet every other week. $30/Month

*Card Shark Bring a friend and revisit some classic card games like Rummy, UNO, and Spoons. Use those solitaire skills you’ve been practicing on your phone and partner up for double solitaire.

*Color n’ Coffee Reap the benefits of expressing yourself, all while socializing. Join us for coffee and adult coloring.

*Conversation and Crosswords Enjoy conversation with friends all while enjoying one of your favorite activities such as crosswords puzzles and word searches.

Pickleball

This sport is described as a combination of tennis and badminton. It is also a fun and great way to get exercise. This is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country and has gained much popularity at the Community Center.

*Puzzle Mania

Keep those critical thinking skills honed and collaborate on a group puzzle, Sudoku, or crosswords.

*Social Knitting/Crocheting

Bring your project and join us for a morning of socializing, sharing patterns, project ideas; or even offer some basic help to get someone started.

Senior Socials

One of One of the longest running programs in Manassas Park! If you are excited to meet with new and old friends and talk about the day’s events, or if you want to work on a project that encourages your creative touch, then this social group is perfect for you. See the Senior board for upcoming activities.

*Walking Club

Calling all walkers! As we walk and talk, you will be hitting your stride and realizing the heart benefits of a 1,000 steps. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and Join us at Blooms Park! In the event of rain, our activity will be indoors.

Manassas Park Buddy Club

(Ages 17+) This one of a kind, special program is a self-facilitated adult social group. This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals with developmental/cognitive disabilities. Daily activities include arts and crafts, fitness classes, movies, computer, and video games. Buddies will also have access to the wellness center and the pool. $2.00 Drop-in rate for non-members. $20/month

Let’s go fly a kite, up to the highest height! Join us for this FREE event as we launch our kites to dance across Signal Hill Park skies. April is National Kite Month, so unwind your string and let’s see you fly high. Feel free to bring your own kite or purchase a $5 diamond kite, while supplies last.

Annual Chalk Festival

Kids to Park Day is amongst us! Join us for our FREE event at Blooms Park! Let the blank pavement be your canvas and create works of art using only chalk. The park will transform into a community art gallery as families design memorable pieces while enjoying the fresh air.
