It’s Term 3 and the children have all made such an incredible start to their final term of the academic year. This term we had lots of new faces join us in the Nursery and we couldn’t be happier with how well they have settled, how familiar they have become with our routines and how they are starting to develop relationships with other children and their familiar adults in the setting. This term we are exploring the theme of growing. We began our exploration by looking at different types of seeds and what we do with them. After reading some stories on plants and seeds, the children expressed an interest in planting seeds in soil and watering them to see what happens. Within a few days we began to notice white roots burying down into the soil, and thin green stems appearing above the soil. Each day we gave our seeds a little more water and left them in the sun. Within a few more days the children became very excited that leaves started to appear. Lots of children had fun exploring different types of seeds, and became seed detectives, finding seeds everywhere; in our tuff spot activities, outside in the EY playground, and even in our watermelon and dragon fruit at snack times!
