Dear Dusit Parents, I hope that this letter finds you well and that, despite the current lockdown, you have managed to relax, recharge and spend some quality time together with your families.,
What should I expect of ‘Online Learning’ in KS1 & KS2 to start the year? This Term’s online learning will be integral to your child’s learning over the course of the term and school year. We will cover key concepts that will be the building blocks for their learning for the rest of this academic year. Please see your child’s Term 1 Curriculum Overview for more details of what will be covered which you will receive on Friday 27th August 2021. In our first session back on Wednesday the 1st of September we will dive straight into a full online learning timetable with a focus on getting settled in our new classes and year groups. We will carry out live lessons on Google Meet. We have reviewed our online learning provision from our last 3 experiences and scoured educational research from across the globe to update and reinvigorate our provision.
What additions have been added to my child’s daily timetable? Live morning meet and greet each day - your child’s class teacher will host a live morning session to check in with their class.
Live ‘Wake up Shake up’ each day - led by our fantastic PE department. Children will then move into the day's lessons, please see below for details of what you should expect.
Live end of the day learning reflection - sessions will be run by the Class Teacher daily. All Specialist lessons will be live.
Free online ECA clubs - will be run by our staff each afternoon. Learning resources for each lesson will be provided every Friday of the preceding week including any printed materials required. Students will also receive an online resource learning pack to begin the year which will include an age specific Well-being Journal with weekly student activities, useful resources such as times tables, high frequency words and login details for all online platforms your child needs to access.

Expectations: KS1 (Years 1 and 2): there will be 2 to 4 whole class live sessions each day with Class Teacher and Specialist Teachers. KS2 (Years 3-6): there will be 3 to 4 whole class live sessions each day with Class Teacher and Specialist Teachers. Timetable with set times for each year group’s live lessons posted on Google Classroom Class Teachers will post a link to lessons and resources each day and this will also be posted the day before so that children can get themselves set up for the following day in advance). Children that require 1:1 reading support will have extra reading sessions with the class TA. Additional feedback 1:1 calls - Class Teachers will have allocated time slots for additional 1:1 support calls; these can be organised whenever required. Google Classrooms used for all online learning - login details will be found in your child’s Well-being Journal which will be sent out at the start of the academic year. Feedback will be given on all student work the day after it is assigned. ClassDojo - will be used to communicate with parents. Live Phonics and/or Spelling will take place during 3 live sessions a week. A live fun reading session will take place one session per week with different guest readers for each phase.. Additional social sessions will be conducted up to 2 times a week by the Class TA. Reading - should still be taking place with an adult at home for 10-15 minutes daily and our Bug Club subscription is available for all children to access where teachers will assign books. Miss Lisa will also send home books in the weekly learning packs and these can be pre-ordered using our online library.

Frequently Asked Questions I can’t get through everything during the week, what can I do? Please don’t worry if you are finding it difficult to get through all the material. We understand that families are facing a number of challenges, and this may mean that it is difficult for you to spend lots of time supporting children with their tasks. Live End of day Learning Reflection
Having said that, we do not need evidence of every piece of work, and again we understand ECAs that this can be a source of stress or pressure for some families. On the timetable and the learning activity we will make it clear what you need to upload. Usually just the work so we can offer next steps and feedback. Videos and photos of the children are only necessary when requested, i.e. for a drama activity. We ask that you submit work where possible using Google Classrooms, but this is not compulsory for every task. As mentioned in my previous communication, we will be delaying the start of the academic year to the 1st September. The additional days will be added on to Terms 2 and 3 so that we can get as much face to face teaching in with the children.
