ong Story Longer is back with a new EP with Kurupt and Obie Trice. Long Story Longer CEO LaBront “LB” Askew says this 4-song EP is a must-listen! The project will be released in January 2023. It comes as a follow-up to “Long Story Longer Presents Ras Kass, Yukmouth, Swifty McVay, and MRK SX” which charted at #36 on iTunes Music Charts following its 2021 release.

The project helped LSL make waves in the industry.

Connor, Keith Murray, Killah Priest, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Elzhi and Speech from Arrested Development. LB saw the follow-up project as an opportunity to collaborate with Kurupt for the first time and Obie Trice, who he worked with previously.

“Their craft and their skill set is just incredible,” LB said about Kurupt and Obie Trice. “I’ve always liked Kurupt’s voice and delivery.”

“I’ve been a fan of Obie Trice and it made sense to collaborate because of our Detroit connection. I wanted to make that happen,” he adds.

“I have a new level of respect for him after watching him work,” LB said.

LB is an executive producer and A&R representative. He launched LSL in 2021 to offer A&R support and artist touring services. The Detroit native’s vision was to make a long story longer for artists who achieve success earlier in their career but still want to contribute to the current climate and sound of today’s music.

During the recording of “Long Story Longer Presents Kurupt & Obie Trice,” Kurupt brought Flavor Flav and Coolio with him to the studio.

Both legends got a chance to hear the records.

“It was a good feeling to have them there and be able to get their feedback,” LB said. “Coolio liked the music and expressed wanting to work with me–but of course, we never got to do that because he passed away.”

Approval from Coolio and Flava Flav, however, affirmed for LB that he has a gift for A&R and belongs in the industry.

“It’s important to me and to the artists I work with to give fans collectibles-something they can have for years to come,” LB said.

LB got his start in the industry as a manager for D12’s Swifty McVay. He and McVay had been friends for years when he called upon him to help with his brother-in-law's dream of being a rapper.

However, LB enjoyed the production side of things more than managing artists.
