Midtown Basketball Company: No Longer Semi-Pro Ball

MIDTOWN BASKETBALL COMPANY NO LONGER SEMI-PRO BALL Midtown Basketball Company has one mission. And that’s to make sure that their athletes get the attention and respect they deserve. They won’t settle for being called ‘semi-pro’ any longer.

MBC’s Prestige team was the 23rd lineup to join The Basketball League, a 3rd-tier

professional basketball league.

Tyler O’Quinn, Executive Director of Midtown Basketball Company, says that his organization and its players work extremely hard on and off the court to be taken seriously.

“No longer will we stand

by and let Wichita call professional basketball ‘semipro,’” says O’Quinn, who founded Midtown Basketball Company in 2020. “I hope the city takes us as seriously as we do.”

unfortunately takes the well-deserved attention away from hard-working athletes.

Many of the athletes have played high school or college ball. But their love and passion for the competitive sport never went away.

“Age wise we are looking at [athletes who are] 18 to 35,” said O’Quinn. “They’re hoopers that still need an outlet and a place to play.”

Midtown works with athletes to elevate the level of competitive basketball in Wichita and its surrounding areas.

In 2020 the basketball company hosted 101 basketball events which included 3 combine events.

“It’s a good opportunity for everyone,” said Mike Zeno, a forward player for the team.

Zeno of Beaumont, Texas, says that Prestige has a team of athletes who are committed to developing their skills within the league. After practice members of the team somehow find the energy for more games and physical training.

“We have to stay ready and make sure we take care of our bodies,” says Zeno.

With the support of local and national partners, Midtown Basketball Company hopes to soar to the number one basketball organization in the state.
