Do my ladies run this motherf*****? Hell yeah. A new era of female rappers has taken over mainstream hip hop. The women have the mic and are creating heavy records for radio, streaming and clubs. Brandy B. of Fort Worth, Texas just released “Thow(Throw) Dat,” a ladies twerk anthem that is sure to have that thang thangin’. And soon, the song will be played across the country. Cont'd P.2

The track, released July 4, was produced by Chianti Everitt and King Payne. Soon the single will have a must-see visual. “It’s an energetic song with a 1985/1986 type of vibe,” Brandy B. describes. “I’m taking it back to the Freaknik era.” “Even when I hear the track it makes me want to work out and get to it,” she added.
Brandy B. is a newcomer with a background in acting. Prior to launching a music career, she managed a cleaning business. She is inspired by the growing presence of women in hip hop, a male-dominated industry. Female artists are also collaborating with one another to create megahits. “It was the driving force that made me want to do this,” Brandy B. said. “The women are giving the men some competition and it’s more than just bubble gum rap. That excites me.”

Brandy B. feels the women are also giving some ‘unforgettable lewks’ and music videos to compliment their music. Think Cardi B. and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” music video, Tierra Wack’s “Unemployed” or City Girls’ “Twerkulator” directed by Missy Elliott. “Missy Elliott is a video game in real life,” Brandy B. says. “Her artistry is impeccable.” “She has a mind-blowing thoughtprocess,” she added, before reminiscing Missy’s iconic trash bag wardrobe for “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video.

The Texan plans to incorporate her own memorable elements into music videos. She has already began writing the video treatment for “Thow Dat” and looks forward to showing off some of her dancing skills and acting chops. “I don’t just want to create music--I want to be memorable,” says Brandy B. who isn’t afraid to add comedic pieces to her art. “They’re going to get everything I have.” The “Thow Dat” record has already helped Brandy B. usher in new followers to her social media and grown her Spotify subscribers. She will continue to push the single to DJs. “I’m testing the water right now to see what fans want but so far, so good,” she says.
