Competing at the NRM national three-day event championships in Taupo over the weekend of May 13th, local rider Emily Cammock almost missed out on the title of ‘Open Championship’ winner, after she was initially penalised fifty points, before the decision was overridden. "This season has been a complete shambles for me. So this is really special," Emily smiled The West Melton mother of two posted a clear round and put pressure on defending champion Amanda Pottinger on the event's final day and came away with the win on her 12-year-old horse Shaw Lee. "I definitely rate this horse," commented Emily. "I have had him since he was an unbroken two-year-old and while he has been a bit of a rogue, he has always been a super jumper. We just need to consolidate our flat work, and there is plenty of room for improvement."
