By Lucinda Jarvis. Sophie Townsend is a sixteen year old student at Darfield High School, and a local show jumping rider based here in Darfield, Canterbury. She has had many International and National results throughout the recent years of 2015/18. Sophie is becoming very well known for the consistent and strong show jumping performances that she is currently doing, covering many height classes within the show jumping discipline. Sophie has represented New Zealand in Mexico at the tender age of fourteen in the 2016 FEI
Children’s International Final, becoming the most successful foreign rider over the four days of competition, which was an outstanding achievement. She is a strong contender in the Junior Rider classes in New Zealand, with ambitions to have future success at Young Rider, Mini Prix and later on Grand Prix level. Sophie has recently been selected for New Zealand in the Junior Rider Team representing Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ), in the CSIJ-B event as part of The Princess Cup (show jumping) being held at The Royal Horse Guard, in Bangkok,
