the crew practiced four times a week in the evening and weekends. Fundraising to pay for costumes (made by Nicky Collier and some purchased from America), commenced with the selling of chocolates and a very welcome and much appreciated grant from Darfield Bakery. DHS Stage Challenge team competed against nine other schools emerging with an incredible second placing in the RAW division. (RAW is an extremely accessible division of Stage Challenge that strips away the sets - only hand held sets are allowed - and focusses purely on performance. Schools choose to enter this division for its greater focus on the raw elements of performance including choreography and dance. It is also a great way to encourage student led productions.)

Darfield High School’s Stage Challenge team have a lot to be proud of having returned with a huge haul of awards from the event. The Schools’ Stage Challenge and J Rock, was held at Horncastle Arena, Thursday May 18th and Darfield High School well and truly did themselves proud. Challenge members Jade Collier and Maddy O’Callaghan came up with the theme for their challenge ‘Could you live with it?’, based on the number of drink driving accidents in the community. The message they wanted to achieve on stage was about the repercussions, and that ‘actions have consequences’. Led by Louise Blakemore, Blakemore (Year ten Dean Digital Technologies, DHS) the challenge crew of sixty students was chosen from an audition held in February, where around 100 students vied for places. Over the ensuing two and a half months,
