Steve Evans is the proud landlord of the Kirwee Tavern and he cannot wait to welcome the community into his newly acquired space. Originally from Wales, Steve moved to New Zealand around sixteen years ago; ten of which have been spent as a resident of Kirwee. Before changing career paths and entering the hospitality industry Steve spent 28 years in corporate international shipping where he held a senior management role. “I love to socialise, and would classify myself as a very social person, so was rather excited when the opportunity to purchase the Tavern presented itself. I have lived in the area for quite some time, but are aware that this pub is not ‘my’ pub - I fill the position of current

landlord. This pub is for the community,” Steve added. Plans to introduce entertainment to the venue are well underway, as well as the stocking of a comprehensive range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Steve is also passionate about providing food in an environment suitable for the whole family - with a new child-friendly menu provided. “We plan to expand and diversify the restaurant in the near future, not only to attract families, but also to make the whole dining experience enjoyable for all. “For those wanting a great, fun night out, entertainment in the Bar area will certainly provide that and I look forward to welcoming everyone.”
