After a foggy start, which hampered the arrival of some of the airborne craft, event organisers agreed they could not have got a better day for the biennial Wings and Wheels, held on the picturesque, Kimberley Road farm, owned by Charlie and Jo Draper, Draper last Sunday, April 3rd. Those attending had the choice of a good selection of stalls to keep hunger at bay, as both the Malvern Lions and Darfield Primary School were on site, cooking up storms. The Sheffield Fire Brigade’s fundraising Wings and Wheels event has been run five times, spanning ten years of organisation for those at the helm and those volunteering to assist. There’s a massive amount of behind the scenes
planning, contacting, and general organisation to get something on this scale off the ground (pardon the pun). From the amazing collection of planes, helicopters and motor vehicles to the outstanding selection of model planes, the event entertained and impressed all who attended. For anyone who missed it mark the week after Easter two years hence - on the calendar, for the next one! There were so many highlights, but one which drew everyone’s eyes skywards was a demonstration from the remote control jet. This 1/19th scale model is capable of 200 kilometres per hour and flies for approximately six minutes with a full fuel tank.

An impressive and often nostalgic line of the new, the old and the classic - with the mechanical pride and joy of one of the event organisers - Nev Croy and his partner Heather Taege in the foreground.
