Waste Art Competition
On Saturday, August 13th, Lincoln Envirotown ran its second High School Waste Art Competition and Exhibition. The Competition ran for the first time last year after being suggested by a local businessperson who donated generous prize money. congratulated the participants on their hard work, imagination, and the messages they were sending,” commented Lincoln Envirotown Trust’s Project Manager, Dave Fitzjohn. The Overall winner was Caitlin White for a very powerful portrayal of the damage that microplastics are doing. The High School Category was won by Caiah Pitkethley for ‘Pretty in Plastic’ a dress and jewellery created from waste plastic. The Intermediate Category was won by Lachie Smolenski with his bottle top rugby player in ‘Conversion’, which referred both to the action and the concept of conversion of waste into something worthwhile.
