Absolute Homes was created out of a passion for residential building and helping people.

Business owners, Chris and Ange Cawthray made the change from commercial construction to residential back in 2020, after a mandatory break was thrown at them due to the Lockdown. “Thanks to the Lockdown, we were forced to re-think and to understand what truly makes us happy and how we could incorporate this into earning a living. “We looked back at the homes we’d built, what we enjoyed about them, and it was an easy and exciting decision to back ourselves to do more of what we loved on a bigger scale,” commented Ange. The pair are both Kiwis but met over in the United Kingdom, where Chris had a business doing loft conversions. After starting their family in London, they made the natural progression to return home to be closer to family and now have four daughters. “We reside in Kirwee and have been a part of the Malvern community since 2014, but only now making the brave decision to put ourselves out there, and opening an office and showroom next to the Darfield Four Square. “We are very much a family-run business, where all our team know family comes first, including for them. We feel that our values are also very consistent throughout our team and hope these are portrayed through to our clients. Relationships are important to us, as well as providing highquality homes that we can be proud of and our clients can be proud to call home,” continued Ange. “We have seen some extremely challenging times in our industry over the past 18-24 months, including supply chain issues, land shortages, and labour issues due to Covid. Thankfully, we have an extremely supportive team of sub-contractors and suppliers who have continued to positively minimise those

effects to our business,” commented Chris. The pair enjoy being able to offer house and land packages as an option, as this enables a lot more people the opportunity to build new homes. They also get a lot of pleasure assisting clients in designing their own homes, on their own sections and being a part of their journey with them. Absolute Homes are Master Builders, and Chris has close to thirty years of experience with an extensive range of skills in design project management and full build contracts, including land and house packages. Chris is very hands-on, which is a great support to the carpentry teams knowing they have his expert knowledge as and when they need it. Ange is also handson in the business, but spends her time in the office, consistently trying to fine-tune processes and ensure customers are getting the best service they can provide. This is extremely important to the pair. “Our team are amazing, and we simply couldn’t offer all our services without them. Construction can be stressful, but we have a great philosophy of sharing problems so we can all dig in and help where we can. By doing this we can all leave work at the door when we go home to our families each night,” said Ange. “Having said this, I also know our Project Manager (also local) James and Chris are often going above and beyond to ensure client's peace of mind. “We are finalising the last few snags in the showroom and look forward to being open to our customers very soon.
