‘Wear the Rural’ is a new business run by four passionate Year 13 Christchurch Girls High School students, Millie Adams from Greendale (CEO), Georgie Ensor from Cheviot (Marketing and Communications), Gabby Brackenridge from Christchurch (Sales and Production Director) and Georgia Taylor from Rangiora (Finance and Chef Administration Officer). These students want to make a real difference in farming/agricultural communities and have come up with the idea of creating a practical, sustainable work shirt

and logo representing mental health awareness. This business opportunity came about through their Business Studies class via the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme is an opportunity for students to unleash their inner entrepreneur and experience the start-up world first-hand, running a real business. Each YES company creates their own product or service and brings it to the market. This group jumped at the opportunity to be involved and

The team is extremely grateful to their sponsors and would like to say a huge thank you to them. The first order for 100 shirts was placed on May 31st, due to May being mental health awareness month. The group hope the first order sells well, which will allow them to order more and hopefully meet their sales target of 200! One hundred percent of the profits from this project will go directly to their chosen charity, ‘Will To Live’.
