The day was perfect for golf, sunny with not a lot of wind. There were 108 players in the Ambrose competition which was slightly down on previous years, mainly due to Covid, which was unfortunate. “This year’s recipients of the funds were the Friends of Darfield Hospital, with the money going towards an archgola over the access ramp to the front door of the Hospital to provide dry access. Any surplus funds will be used to convert the maternity room into a palliative care room,” commented Malvern Lions Golf Convenor, Hamish Milner. “The Friends of Darfield Hospital did an outstanding job with the food, there was a great variety and plenty to go around. “The raffle table was outstanding with over $3,000 worth of prizes, and not many people went home empty handed. “A special thanks must go out to all our sponsors, as we could not have achieved what we did without them and a big thank you to everyone who made this day successful,” Hamish concluded. The Malvern Lions presented the Friends of Darfield Hospital with a donation of $17,000 at the conclusion of the Tournament. “The Friends of Darfield Hospital would like to thank the Malvern Lions for organising this fantastic Tournament, we would also like to thank all the sponsors for their support. We have received great feedback from everyone and a great day was had by all,” commented Friends of Darfield Hospital Secretary/Treasurer, Heather Mitchell.
