the Burnham Club and has represented Canterbury Touch for the past four years as well. Tyler loves being able to travel with some of his mates and make new friends all while playing a sport he loves. Touch also helps him work on some basic skills that he uses in rugby, like passing etc which helps during the winter rugby season. The fast pace and the thinking behind all the different plays is another drawcard for him. Tyler loves sport in general, but when he has any spare time he likes to hang out with mates or just chill out at home. The selection process started at Nationals in February,

Local, seventeen year old, ex Darfield High School student (current St Thomas of Canterbury College student) Tyler Tapa-Wither, has been selected to represent New Zealand as part of the Under 18 Men’s Touch team. The 2022 Youth Trans Tasman Tournament will be held at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub, in Christchurch, from the 18th to 23rd of January, 2022. Tyler decided to play touch, when he was younger, after some friends recommended he try it, so they took him along to their Club and he has loved playing the game ever since! He currently plays touch for

where Tyler was selected for the Canterbury Touch Under 18 Men’s team. New Zealand selectors were also watching the National Tournament picking players whom they would like to see trial for the next stage.

Approximately fifty players from around New Zealand were selected to attend a trial and three day camp in Auckland, in July, where players were tested on everything.
