Neil Simon is a pillar of the American theatre landscape, and we have produced a number of his plays over the years including Barefoot in the Park in 2006 and Brighton Beach Memoirs pre-pandemic which sold out before it opened. Jim is thrilled to make his Maltz Jupiter Theater debut in Plaza Suite. No stranger to Florida, Jim has played in almost a dozen performances at the beloved Orlando Shakespeare Theater, including King Henry, in Henry IV pts 1 & 2 -- a role that he reprised last summer at the PA Shakespeare Festival . In his hometown of “Philly” Jim has performed on the stages of The Walnut Street Theater, The Arden Theater, and The Wilma Theater. Among a lifetime of performances in New York, Jim was a member of the Lab Theater (formerly Circle Rep) where he work-shopped plays for fellow members Terrance McNally, Craig Lucas, William Hoffman and Lanford Wilson. Some most humbling performances include playing opposite Phylicia Rashaad, under the direction of Kenny Leon at Arena Stage, and performing with Diane Wiest under the direction of the late, great Sidney Lumet in NYC.

J. Barry is pleased to again be among friends and colleagues at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. The work that is seen on this stage is the product of the tireless efforts of dozens of committed artists. Each one of those individuals has his unending appreciation for their creative support. Past productions at the Theatre include: A Doll’s House, Part 2, An Inspector Calls, Disgraced, Glengarry Glen Ross, Frost/Nixon, Doubt, Dial M for Murder, Death Trap, and the Neil Simon comedy Barefoot in the Park. He is a recent recipient of the Richard G. Fallon Award for Excellence in Professional Theatre, awarded annually by the Florida Professional Theatres Association. He is a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the professional stage directors’ union, and supports their efforts in acknowledging the importance of art in our daily lives, for all people. She is currently Professor Emeritus of Scenic Design at Carnegie Mellon University and Resident Set Designer at Palm Beach Dramaworks. Recognition includes, Frankle Award (Contribution to the Arts), Numerous “Best of Pittsburgh”, Carbonell Award, Ryan Award (top teaching award at CMU), Hornbostle Award (top teaching award College of Fine Arts), Pittsburgh’s Top Eight Professors. Kirk has designed the lighting for countless New York City and regional productions over the past four decades. His favorite lighting design credits include: Lincoln Center’s 2011 production of Company directed by Lonny Price and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Stephen Colbert and Patti LuPone. For the incomparable Charles Busch: Shanghai Moon, The Divine Sister, The Tribute Artist, Die Mommy Die, The Green Heart and the 2020 hit production of The Confession of Lily Dare directed by Carl Andress. Broadway credits include The Gin Game with Julie Harris and Charles Durning, and The Sunshine Boys with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. Internationally he has designed the lighting for the Hungarian National, English National Ballet and the Santiago Ballet Company all with Ivan Nagy.

Scott’s Maltz Jupiter Theatre design credits include Beautiful , Oliver , Sweet Charity , Forum , and Ain’t Misbehavin. On Broadway he has designed sound for productions of: A Free Man of Color , The Rivals, Contact, Marie Christine, Twelfth Night, and Jekyll and Hyde . Off Broadway he has designed productions of: Cat Kid Comic Club, Bernarda Alba, Third, Spitfire Grill, Elegies, Hello Again, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Regional credits include: The Argyle Theater, Manhattan School of Music, Merrimack Repertory Theater, the University of Michigan, Denizen Theater, Capitol Rep, Hanger Theater, Engeman Theater, and The Alley Theater. Nicole is a Silver Palm awardwinning intimacy director, as well as intimacy coordinator and dance choreographer in South Florida. Career highlights include 2 Broward County Artist Investment Grants for KINesphere (site-inspired dance works), intimacy coordination for God Forbid on Hulu, and a Carbonell

nomination for the intimacy direction of To Fall in Love at Theatre Lab. Nicole is a Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst. She holds an MFA from Goddard College. She apprenticed with Intimacy Directors International, and is certified by Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC). Nicole is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at Florida Atlantic University. ANDREW KATO

Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive

Andrew Kato is celebrating his nineteenth season at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre as the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive. During his tenure, he has produced over 95 productions and subscriptions have grown to over 7,000 patrons. Overall attendance has grown to nearly 100,000 guests annually, securing the Theatre to be one of the most successful regional theatres in the southeast. Andrew is honored to celebrate the Theatre’s 20th anniversary during the 2023/24 season. Andrew was the Creative Consultant/Coordinating Producer on the Tony Awards® for 13 years. His Broadway credits include: Jelly’s Last Jam, Angels in America and the off-Broadway production of Cryptogram Andrew conceived and developed several musicals, including: Switch!, Academy, 1001 Nights, Street Songs, Diva Diaries, Through the Looking Glass, and Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, which made its off-Broadway debut in September 2023. Andrew received the 2012 Council’s Choice Muse Award from the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, the 2013 Silver Palm Award from the South Florida Theatre League for Outstanding Contribution, and the 2019 Richard G. Fallon Award for Excellence in Professional Theatre. Andrew has been honored as a Leader of Distinction by Florida Weekly and one of Palm Beach County’s 100 Most Influential Business Leaders by Palm Beach Illustrated four years in a row. Andrew is a member of the Executive Trustee Council of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce. He is a proud graduate of Florida State University and member of the Society of Directors and Choreographers (SDC).

Neil Simon (1927-2018), an iconic American playwright and screenwriter, stands as one of the most prolific and successful figures in theatre history. Renowned for his exceptional storytelling, he crafted an extensive repertoire of plays and musicals that left an indelible mark on the entertainment world. Notable works include the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning Lost In Yonkers, along with a plethora of acclaimed productions like Come Blow Your Horn, The Odd Couple, Sweet Charity, Plaza Suite, and many more. Simon’s talent seamlessly transitioned to the silver screen with film adaptations of his plays and original screenplays. His cinematic contributions encompass After the Fox, The Out-Of-Towners, The Heartbreak Kid (original 1973 version), Murder by Death, The Cheap Detective, Seems

Like Old Times, Only When I Laugh, Max Dugan Returns, The Slugger’s Wife, The Marrying Man, and The Odd Couple II. Movies based on his stage plays, including Come Blow Your Horn, Sweet Charity, and The StarSpangled Girl, further highlight his versatility in storytelling. In the realm of television, Neil Simon showcased his writing prowess through series, teleplays, and motion pictures. His credits include The Tallulah Bankhead Show, The Sid Caesar Show, The Phil Silvers Arrow Show, The Phil Silvers Show, The Garry Moore Show, The Trouble with People, ABC’s Broadway Bound, and Jake’s Women. Beyond the stage and screen, Neil Simon left a literary legacy with books such as Rewrites, A Memoir, and The Play Goes On. Four omnibus collections, namely The Comedy Of Neil Simon, The Collected Plays Of Neil Simon, Vol. II, The Collected Plays Of Neil Simon, Vol. 3, and The Collected Plays Of Neil Simon, Vol. 4, encapsulate his influential body of work. Additionally, his screenplay for Lost In Yonkers and other writings contribute to the understanding of his creative journey. Neil Simon’s impact is evident in the numerous Academy and Tony nominations he received, surpassing all other writers. His awards include the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Lost In Yonkers, multiple Emmy Awards for The Sid Caesar Show and The Phil Silvers Show, and Tony Awards for The Odd Couple, Biloxi Blues, and Lost In Yonkers. A special Tony Award For Overall Contribution To The Theatre acknowl -

edges his enduring influence. During a seizure, Gracie will lick at Giovanni’s face and mouth to stimulate his breathing, place herself in front of him to catch his fall, and if seated during a seizure, Gracie will brace Giovanni to keep him secure. ARTS CHANGE LIVES: A CASE FOR FUNDING

Education plays a paramount role in our mission, especially when schools face budget cuts in their arts programs. Understanding the importance of fostering creative thinkers, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Goldner Conservatory provides an important outlet for our local children to explore their dreams.

With the successful completion of our 8,600 square foot expansion, the Goldner Conservatory will, once again, have a permanent home in our facilities. The state-of-the-art design of our studios and classrooms and their strategic placement on the third floor of our new building, offers students unprecedented access to industry professionals. The close proximity of the Conservatory to our Broadway-scaled stage, the 199-seat Second Space, and the three-story Production Center further increases opportunities for students, creating a unique environment for artistic growth that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Phone lines to the Box Office are closed after business hours and are not answered. The Box Office opens 90 minutes prior to each performance for walk-up sales and remains open until the end of intermission or, in the case of shows without an intermission, until 15 minutes after the performance begins.

$25 RUSH TICKETS FOR STUDENTS UNDER 18

Beginning 90 minutes prior to any evening performance of a season subscription show, subject to mezzanine seat availability, students under 18 with a valid student ID may purchase up to two $25 student rush mezzanine tickets to that performance. Ticket(s) must be purchased in person and CANNOT be ordered over the phone or online.

*Note: Student Rush is applicable only for Maltz Jupiter Theatre Season productions and does not apply to Limited Engagements or other non-Maltz Jupiter Theatre produced events.

PATRONS WITH DISABILITIES

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is dedicated to providing persons with disabilities the necessary measures for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Accessible seating for persons with disabilities is available in our orchestra and the Green Room Club Level. Please be sure to mention any special seating request when placing your ticket order. Our lobby restrooms are also fully accessible.

RF LISTENING SYSTEM

Headsets aiding in amplification and clarity are available for hearing impaired patrons on a first come, first serve basis. Receivers with earphones or hearing loops are available free of charge and may be signed out prior to the performance using a driver’s license or major credit card. They are lightweight and can be used in all sections of the theatre. Upon completion of use, your ID or credit card will be returned.
