A LETTER FROM THE PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Welcome to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre! Whether this is your first visit or you’ve been with us for years, we are so glad you’re here. Since the pandemic, we have been in our building years: strengthening our foundation, reinvesting in our facilities, and preparing for what comes next. Now we are entering our transformational years. With that progress behind us, we can do bold, exciting things on and off our Stage, and it begins with our “Stories Reawakened” Season. We open with Orphans, a redemptive story about second chances and the unexpected strength of found family. It reminds us that the people who turn up in our lives, often when we least expect them, can change everything. None of this happens without you. At a time when many regional theatres across the country are struggling, our subscriptions are up 6%. We are still growing, and that is entirely thanks to the loyalty and generosity of our audiences and community. Thank you. Every production on our Stage is 100% Maltz-made, created from the ground up by our own artists and craftspeople. If you’d like to see how it all comes together, I invite you to join one of my Master Classes or listen to my podcast, Backstage with Andrew Kato, which have listings in the center spread of this program. Looking to make your evening extra special? Our reinvestment in the building has created new ways to celebrate. Enjoy the newly redesigned Green Room Club Level Lounge, originally made possible by Roe Green and the Roe Green Foundation, or upgrade to GR2, our intimate VIP lounge with Veuve Clicquot champagne and charcuterie by Boarderie. They’re perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or simply a memorable night out. For Ain’t Misbehavin’, eight lucky guests each night can take their seats on stage at cocktail tables, with a cocktail before the show and at intermission, and a view of the performance like no other. Check our website for all these new ways to enjoy your time with us. There’s still time to subscribe. A 4-play package offers our best prices and early access to future events. Visit the box office or jupitertheatre.org. And this December 16–19, our Jingle Jams series returns to The Island Theatre with “Dueling Yule-Ing Pianos,” “Classic Christmas by Candlelight,” and “Jazzy Christmas.” Finally, our deep thanks to the Circle of Friends and to our corporate and business partners (pages 50 through 54), whose support makes this work possible. On behalf of our entire team, enjoy the show!

DISCLOSURE FOR ORPHANS This production is presented using the playwright’s original text. As a theatre, we hold a deep commitment to honoring the integrity of an author’s voice, and it is both our privilege and our obligation to present this work as it was written. In the spirit of that commitment, we entered into a candid conversation with the playwright about a small number of elements in the script, language that we felt could be updated without altering the tone, intent, or power of the work. That request was not granted, and we respect the playwright’s right to make that decision. We do want our company and our audiences to know that some of the language in the play does not reflect the values of this theatre or our creative team. We believe these are exactly the kinds of moments that make live theatre so vital, language that challenges us, unsettles us, and invites us to ask hard questions together. We are grateful for your presence, your open minds, and your willingness to engage with this story in all its complexity.
