Welcome to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s 20th Anniversary Season! It is hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. The Theatre has gone through a lot of changes in its two decades, but our commitment to producing high-quality theatre has always remained. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the vision and determination from Milton and Tamar Maltz. Their enduring support has made so many of our dreams come true, and we owe them our deepest gratitude.
This season aims to be a celebration of the best that theatre has to offer, and what a way to begin than with a classic Agatha Christie murder mystery. We are pleased to welcome back Director Peter Amster to lead this production, along with the talented group of artists who are all bringing their unique design perspectives to the show. Those who joined us for our Murder on the Orient Express Maltz Master Class series learned exactly how complex putting a show like this together can be. We will be hosting another Maltz Master Class series about 42nd Street in March. Visit the Maltz Jupiter Theatre website to RSVP for each event. The Maltz Master Classes are free and open to the public!
The best way that you can support live theatre in your community is to buy tickets. If you do not yet have a subscription, there is still time! Stop by the box office or visit our website to purchase a 4-play subscription package for the remainder of our season. Subscribers receive the best ticket prices and early access to secure seats for future events. We also have a wide range of Limited Engagements this year that are sure to entice even the nontheatre lovers in your life.
Thank you for joining us and helping us kick off this milestone season. We would not be able to do what we do, nor do it for twenty years, without our dedicated audiences and donors. Your support means the world to us, and we hope to repay the favor with high-quality performances.
We hope to see you back here for our brand new, original production of A Christmas Carol.
On behalf of the entire Maltz Jupiter Theatre team, enjoy the show!

The play is set Aboard the Orient Express as it travels from Istanbul to Western Europe. 1934.
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.

Agatha Christie is known throughout the world as the Queen of Crime. Her books have sold over a billion copies in English with another billion in foreign languages. She is the most widely published author of all time and, in many languages, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. She is the author of 66 crime novels, 150 short stories, over 20 plays, and six novels written under the name Mary Westmacott. Her work includes Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, and the genre-defining And Then There Were None. Agatha Christie’s first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, was written towards the end of the First World War, in which she served in the VAD. In it she created Hercule Poirot, the little Belgian detective who was destined to become the most popular detective in crime fiction since Sherlock Holmes. It was published by Bodley Head in 1920. In 1926, after averaging a book a year, Agatha Christie wrote her first masterpiece. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was the first of her books to be published by Collins and marked
the beginning of an author-publisher relationship that lasted for 50 years and well over 70 books. Ackroyd was also the first of Agatha Christie’s books to be dramatized – under the title Alibi – and to have a successful run in London’s West End. By 1930, Agatha had introduced a new character to act as detective. When she created Miss Marple, Agatha did not expect her to become Poirot’s rival, but with The Murder at the Vicarage, Miss Marple’s first full-length outing, it appeared she had produced another popular and enduring character. The Mousetrap, her most successful play of all, opened in 1952 and is the longest-running play in history. Agatha Christie was made a dame in 1971. She died in 1976. Agatha Christie Limited (ACL) has been managing the literary and media rights to Agatha Christie's works around the world since 1955, working with the best talents in film, television, publishing, stage and on digital platforms to ensure that Christie’s work continues to reach new audiences in innovative ways and to the highest standard. The company is managed by Christie’s great grandson James Prichard. Visit www.agathachristie.com for more information.

Riley / Warrior
Riley is your typical bubbly eleven-year-old. She loves the beach, playing baseball, and going out to eat. The only difference is she has cerebral palsy and epilepsy that affects every aspect of her body. Aided with a power wheelchair, she doesn’t stay still for long. That’s because Riley is a warrior, and warriors fight on! To learn more about Riley, and meet our other incredible Warriors, visit chasinadream.org

DAVID GERRITS Owner, CEO
In 2014, with many thanks to Milton and Tamar Maltz, the Maltz Family Foundation, and 243 donors, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre successfully completed a $10 million Endowment that continues to secure the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s future. In addition to contributing to the annual operations of the organization, Endowment funds will provide the support to the following initiatives this season:
25% of our students receive scholarships throughout the year and no child has ever been turned away due to financial consatraints.
Automating scenery in our theatre will have a multitude of advantages that will help to enhance the audiences' experience and reshape how we plan our productions from the ground up. Primarily, it allows for precise and repeatable scene changes, with endless flexibility to make adjustments quickly. This not only saves us valuable rehearsal time but allows us to create a smoother flow of our productions, leading to a more captive audience. This upgrade allows designers to create dynamic and interesting sets, without the audience being distracted by stage crew who would have been pushing that scenery on stage. Overall, adding automation to our scenery will elevate our productions to Broadway standards.
With the completion of our 199-seat Second Space, The Island Theatre (opening in 2024/25), the Maltz Jupiter Theatre will have the opportunity to produce more diverse programmatic offerings. The Theatre offers so many experiences and our newly formed Ambassador Program will get the word out to the entire community on the many ways to get involved.
With the developmental success of Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors that the Maltz Jupiter Theatre commissioned and produced in 2019, it is currently running to rave reviews off-Broadway. Additional productions are scheduled throughout the United States this season. We are once again developing A Christmas Carol which will hopefully be a perennial staple for our season as well as be licensed to other theatres.
Customer experience is key to our success in welcoming our guests. Under the vision of Jeff Barry and our marketing team, an investment in our ability to provide a user-friendly environment to purchase tickets and get information on all we offer to our patrons has been accomplished.
Education plays a paramount role in our mission, especially when schools face budget cuts in their arts programs. Understanding the importance of fostering creative thinkers, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Goldner Conservatory provides an important outlet for our local children to explore their dreams. With the successful completion of our 8,600 square foot expansion, the Goldner Conservatory will, once again, have a permanent home in our facilities. The state-of-the-art design of our studios and classrooms and their strategic placement on the third floor of our new building, offers students unprecedented access to industry professionals. The close proximity of the Conservatory to our Broadway-scaled stage, the 199-seat Second Space, and the three-story Production Center further increases opportunities for students, creating a unique environment for artistic growth that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Meet the members of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s costume shop, who work diligently and tirelessly behind the scenes, designing and sketching, hemming and stitching, steaming and pressing, all to bring you the fabulous Broadway-quality costumes you see today.
A round of applause for these unseen heroes of the Theatre!

Host your event at Pelican Club, a waterfront venue with stunning views of Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. With 25,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space, we cater to charitable events, award ceremonies, and more. Private charters on the historic Honey Fitz add a luxurious touch. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access are an integral part of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s mission and values. We are dedicated to fostering and empowering a diverse workplace, engaging our underserved communities, and creating strong relationships with community stakeholders from every background.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre wishes to acknowledge and honor the land upon which we gather as the historic and traditional territory of the Jaega chiefdom and the inhabitants of the village of Jobe. We recognize the rich diversity of nations that lived in and shaped South Florida, and we hope to honor their legacy.
Maltz Jupiter Theatre is committed to the health and safety of our patrons, artists, staff and volunteers. We will continue to focus on providing a clean, safe and sanitized environment for everyone.
