JANUARY 9 - 28, 2024
Happy New Year and welcome to Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. We are pleased to welcome back Maltz Jupiter Theatre veterans, Director Matt Lenz (Billy Elliot) and Carbonell Award-Winning Choreographer Ariel Reid (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), to lend their talents to our production.
There is a lot to look forward to in the second half of our season. We have a week of limited engagements at the end of January, kicking off with The Phil Collins Experience, an electric Gloria Estefan tribute, and a showcase of the legendary voices of British rock and roll. Pair a Limited Engagement performance with a visit to one of our restaurant partners for an unforgettable date night or a night out with a group of friends. These one-night-only shows sell out quickly, so visit our box office or go online to grab your seats before they’re gone!
Our premier fundraising event of the season, our annual gala, is also right around the corner. This year’s 20th Anniversary Gala will be a celebration of the history of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. It will be a spectacular evening of fine food, dancing, original entertainment, and a silent auction. Contact our Development Department soon to secure your seat. The proceeds of the event go to directly supporting our productions and our Goldner Conservatory.
Keep a lookout for the spring edition of our selfpublished Marquee Magazine, which will feature the big announcement of our 2024/25 season. If you thought this year was a lineup of showstoppers, just wait until you see what we have in store!
Thank you for joining us and for your support of live theatre in Palm Beach County. Next up will be the Neil Simon classic, Plaza Suite.
Enjoy the show!

Lyricist and Composer
Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Gerry Goffin met Carole King at Queens College, and their musical collaboration began almost immediately. They married in 1959, and that same year wrote their first hit song “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” (The Shirelles). The duo penned more than 50 Top-40 hits including “The Locomotion,” “Natural Woman” and “Up on the Roof.” In 1987, Goffin and King were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Goffin has left an indelible mark on American music.
Lyricist and Composer
Pop music would be very different without the contributions of Carole King, who at age 17 wrote her first #1 hit with Gerry Goffin, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” for the Shirelles. The dozens of chart hits Goffin and King wrote during this period became legendary, but it was 1971’s Tapestry that took King to the pinnacle, speaking personally to her contemporaries and providing a spiritual musical backdrop to the decade. More than 400 of her compositions have been recorded by over 1,000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles and six Grammys.
BARRY MANN
Lyricist and Composer
Barry Mann has written the melodies of some of the most influential pop songs in musical history. In addition to “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” the most-played song of the last century, and the songs heard in Beautiful, he composed later standards like “Somewhere Out There” (winner of two Grammys), “Here You Come Again,” “Sometimes When We Touch,” “Just Once” and “Don’t Know Much.” Together he and Cynthia Weil have amassed an incredible 112 pop, country, and R&B awards from Broadcast Music Inc. for significant radio air play. He has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lyricist and Composer
Cynthia Weil was the acclaimed lyricist of classic songs such as “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” the most-played song of the 20th century. In addition to the songs heard in Beautiful, she set the words to later standards including “Somewhere Out There,” “Here You Come Again,” “He’s So Shy,” “Just Once” and “Don’t Know Much,” to name just a few. Weil was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, honored with multiple Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards for “Somewhere Out There” as the Motion Pictures Song of the Year and Song of the Year. Weil passed away on June 1, 2023.

MUSIC
(MTI) is one of the world’s leading theatrical licensing agencies, granting theatres from around the world the rights to perform the greatest selection of musicals from Broadway and beyond. Founded in 1952 by composer Frank Loesser and orchestrator Don Walker, MTI is a driving force in advancing musical theatre as a vibrant and engaging art form. MTI works directly with the composers, lyricists and book writers of these musicals to provide official scripts, musical materials and dynamic theatrical resources to over 100,000 professional, community and school theatres in the US and in over 150 countries worldwide. MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre, and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences. MTI’s Broadway Junior® shows are 30- and 60-minute musicals for performance by elementary and middle school-aged performers, while MTI’s School Editions are musicals annotated for performance by high school students..

DAVID GERRITS Owner, CEO
Education plays a paramount role in our mission, especially when schools face budget cuts in their arts programs. Understanding the importance of fostering creative thinkers, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Goldner Conservatory provides an important outlet for our local children to explore their dreams.
With the successful completion of our 8,600 square foot expansion, the Goldner Conservatory will, once again, have a permanent home in our facilities. The state-of-the-art design of our studios and classrooms and their strategic placement on the third floor of our new building, offers students unprecedented access to industry professionals. The close proximity of the Conservatory to our Broadway-scaled stage, the 199-seat Second Space, and the three-story Production Center further increases opportunities for students, creating a unique environment for artistic growth that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Host your event at Pelican Club, a waterfront venue with stunning views of Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. With 25,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space, we cater to charitable events, award ceremonies, and more. Private charters on the historic Honey Fitz add a luxurious touch. With a menu crafted to your liking and hospitality that will delight your guests, you can expect a first-class experience at Pelican Club.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access are an integral part of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s mission and values. We are dedicated to fostering and empowering a diverse workplace, engaging our underserved communities, and creating strong relationships with community stakeholders from every background.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre wishes to acknowledge and honor the land upon which we gather as the historic and traditional territory of the Jaega chiefdom and the inhabitants of the village of Jobe. We recognize the rich diversity of nations that lived in and shaped South Florida, and we hope to honor their legacy.
