Malpani's Bakelite began in 1999 in a modest 70 sq ft room at Harihar Mandir, Pune, with just 10 kg of maida, a small oven and a mixer, producing 5–10 kg of cookies a day under the name "Maharaja Gold" As demand grew, the brand expanded to a 1,000 sq ft facility on Pune-Satara Road in 2003, and eventually into today's 40,000sq ft automation-drivenfactoryinNarhe, run by over 300 dedicated employees Founded by SachinMalpani, the brand has stayed true to its "Shudh Shakahari" (pure vegetarian) promise at every stage of that growth
