Shibori is a Japanese tie-dying technique and the more time we spent diving deeper into Shibori the more we became inspired with translating it the Maloja way. During this process of exploration it became clear to us that there was a deeper story to tell.

We decided to bridge the gap between Japan and the European Alps to create “The Alpan Way”.

The Autumn/Winter 2019 collection has us combining traditional Japanese motifs such as waves, blossoms and dragonflies with Alpine flowers. You will find a variety of loose fitting, comfortable, jackets and coats inspired by Japanese fashion. From traditional Sashiko embroidered pictures, stitching was created in geometric patterns and shapes. The traditional Alpine dirndl finished with a classic Japanese standing collar.

In der Kollektion Herbst/Winter 2018 kombinieren wir in den Drucken typisch japanische Motive wie Wellen, Blüten und Libellen mit alpinen Blumen. Es gibt vom eher lässig geschnittenen, gemütlichen Kleidungsstil der Japaner inspirierte Jacken und Mäntel. Aus traditionellen Sashiko-Stickbildern entstanden Steppungen in geometrischen Mustern und Formen.

Das alpine Waschdirndl wurde um einen klassischen japanischen Stehkragen ergänzt.

The WINDSTOPPER® Membrane is an ultra light coating that is laminated on a light textile and provides absolute windproofness. It is made out of the Polymer PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylen), which will be stretched to create a pore structure.

The micro pores are 900 times bigger than the water vapour molecule, so that sweat can escape unhindered. Due to this unique membrane technology all WINDSTOPPER® products are absolute windproof and breathability of the original textile persists.

Wenn es darum geht bei möglichst wenig Gewicht möglichst warm zu halten, ist hochwertige Gänsedaune nach wie vor das Füllmaterial der Wahl.

Für unsere Lightweight Down Produkte verwenden wir 90 % Daune und 10 % Federn mit einer Füllkraft von 800 cuin. Daunen und Federn stammen von kontrollierten Betrieben mit artgerechter Tierhaltung und sind bluesign® zertifiziert.

Bonded Wool ist die perfekte Kombination aus traditionellen Wollmaterialien auf der Außenseite und modernen Funktionsfasern auf der Innenseite. Beide Stoffe werden mittels einer speziellen Membran miteinander verbunden. Die 3-Lagen Konstruktion schützt somit optimal vor Wind, hält angenehm warm und hat eine unverwechselbare zeitlose Optik.

Bonded Wool provides the perfect combination of traditional wool on the outer surface and a technical knitted look on the inside. Both materials are bonded together by a special membrane thus creating a 3-layer construction that is windproof, warm and has a timeless milled look.

When it comes to staying warm and reducing material weight as much as possible, high quality goose down is still the filler of choice. For our lightweight down products we utilize 90% down and 10% feathers making for a fill power of 800 cuin. Down and feathers are sourced from reputable and controlled farms that are animal welfare and bluesign® certified.

Der leichte, eng anliegende Rennanzug wurde für Wettkämpfe konzipiert, er eignet sich aber genauso gut auch für das Training. Wichtige Details wie Felltaschen, eine LVS-Tasche sowie Materialverstärkungen im Schulterbereich und an den Beinabschlüssen sind auf Anregungen der Athleten entstanden. Durch ein spezielles Clip-System zwischen Oberteil und Hose kann der Rennanzug auch getrennt getragen werden.

The lightweight, slim fit suit was designed specifically for competitions, but it performs just as well for training. Key athlete requests are integrated felt pockets for ski skins, an avalanche beacon compartment and reinforcements in the shoulder and ankle areas. We work closely with the Bolivian charity project “Wipalla”.

Our cooperation with Wipalla started on our trip to South America where we photographed our “Pachamama” collection. For “The Alpan Way”, we commissioned the projects women’s knitting group with making the Japanese inspired tank top. The women of this group are able to earn addtional income for their families, while we get to cuddle up to the finest hand-knitted Alpaca wool.

There are great environmental advantages to this technique compared to the conventional washing method, as there is no chemical usage in the process, water consumption is reduced by 86 % and electricity consumption is reduced by 55 %.
