Looking back whilst looking forward It seems like it was just yesterday, but it’s actually a decade since we started out in the business world, with our degree and master’s degree from the prestigious Barcelona Business School ESADE, rated 3rd among European business schools. We worked for multinational companies in the cosmopolitan Barcelona, prepared to “cross the pond” and in 2004 moved to our beloved island, Mallorca, where we put into practice all the experience we had gained in the finance and marketing world. | They have been 10 interesting years on a personal and professional level. We have seen first-hand the island’s transformation, following the worldwide economic crisis. The entertainment and gastronomy offered on the island has increased dramatically and is now more avant-garde than ever, thanks to the ingenuity and the internationalization of its people. | Why MallorcaSite.com? Why an estate agency? Our business plan focused from the very beginning on the foreign market, those that wanted to live on the island. Our youthful profile that was versed in new technologies indicated that the strongest tool to reach this target market was, and is the Internet. That, together with our large network of contacts in this field, was the key for defining our business idea. Was the real estate on offer and the business structure adequate? We studied the competition at the time and felt that it was not ideal. We didn’t want to be just a house shop and create a massive network of offices and flood the market. Bank estate agents have proved that this does not work. We focused on flexibility and innovation in our team. We became a “boutique estate agent” or a “tailor made service”, flexibility, personalized and personal service became our trademarks. Few clients and lots of services have been the key to helping many families find their new home thanks to our advice.

his is my creation for the 10th year anniversary of MallorcaSite.com. The MallorcaSite cocktail had to be fresh, young, Mediterranean, fit for an international crowd, with a touch of glamour and at the same time dynamic and easy to digest, not tiring, with a bold colour, and of course corporate, so we thought up a combination of local, seasonal produce together with some international ingredients. | A cocktail designed for a special night and international clientele, with elderberry liquor, that reminds us of a Hugo, to which we add a natural and local element, the pomegranate, and something as popular, trustworthy and transparent as soda. The glamorous, youthful touch comes from the cava. Green shows confidence and reinforces the Mediterranean feel so we added the mint to macerate.

Rafa Martin is a stirred but not shaken kind of person. I came to Mallorca 15 years ago, I worked for one summer on the island and it hooked me, so I stayed. I am self-taught and active, always trying to perfect my skills and obtain excellence. | I’ve worked in some the island’s best hotels, from Son Net in its heyday to Maricel, as well as Puro Hotel and a few others. It is the result of years of learning and hard work, finally managing to consolidate my ideas and work, within these four walls which dozens of clients flock to on a daily basis. A building of international character, ‘50s in style but at the same time modern, designed by the prestigious Catalan architect, and great friend, Xavier Claramunt. Bottles, brass, red quilts, leather, dim lights… jazz, cocktails… that is BrassClub. Born in 1945 and graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) in 1970, since then he has worked from his own architect and urban planning studio, in Mallorca and Ibiza. Among his many projects we should highlight hotels, residential and holiday complexes, the Carrefour commercial centre and the new head office for Gesa-Endesa in Palma. In the urban planning field he has intervened in many partial plans and urban planning projects. He specialises in detached homes in exclusive developments.

I could say that in the 70s I designed some properties that are still fully in use today (two of them were selected among the ten best works of the decade). MS.
