Create a chain of symbols are transferring a personal message. Do not use letters or already existing symbols, we need to see how creative you can be to create original artwork. Through Chapter#1’s reading you learned about several ancient writing systems. Many of them through time transformed and provided building bocks for our recent typographic culture. This week’s class project is based on Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Traditionally, hieroglyphs are stacked vertically, with all characters facing the same direction (either left or right). Take a vertical paper format in Photoshop and start sketching. Combine a number of symbols to create a short story or message.

The Hawaiian language, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, is the indigenous language of Hawaiʻi and official language of the state of Hawaiʻi along with English. For centuries it has been the language of Kānaka ʻŌiwi, the Native Hawaiian people. The Hawaiian language faced significant challenges over the past century, including an outright ban of the language by the United States territorial government in 1896.
The current official Hawaiian alphabet consists of 13 letters: five vowels (A a, E e, I i, O o, and U u) and eight consonants (H h, K k, L l, M m, N n, P p, W w, and ʻ). Alphabetic order differs from the normal Latin order in that the vowels come first, then the consonants.
Revitalizing the Hawaiian language is a critical part in preserving and perpetuating Hawaiian culture. The language is a means to connect with ancestors, better comprehend stories and, fully appreciate traditions. You can help support the language and culture by making an effort to learn and use some common terms. The Tahiti Sans font family was designed by Dennis Ludlow and published by Sharkshock. Like most fonts, several variations have been created to resemble the original on Creative Fabrica.
A font family is a collection of fonts that share particular design features within a specific style of typeface. Typeface refers to a complete set of characters that are unified by a common design ethos. Fonts are actually subsections of typefaces that refer to the size, weight, and style of the specific typeface you’re using. A font's characters or glyphs will maintain a consistent style to match its font family.

Chapter 11 in textbook is about the selection and combination of diverse font selection to create hierarchy and balance for target audience. I designed a logo for a South Florida small business and created variations to present to a imaginary client through a pitching event. I came up with an idea for a luxury mechanice magazine company.
