Malden Catholic Celebrates and Honors the Legacy of Mr. Joseph J. O’Donnell ’62 who passed away on January 7, 2024.

Mr. Joe O’Donnell ’62, an Everett native was a champion, advocate and generous benefactor who believed deeply in the potential of each student at Malden Catholic.

Through his profound spirit of Plus Ultra, Mr. O’Donnell ’62 who graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Business School modeled tremendous zeal in communicating the power and the promise of the MC experience.

Mr. O’Donnell ’62 served as a trustee and was the founder and chairman of the Saint Francis Xavier Society the major philanthropic arm of the school.

Mr. O’Donnell ’62 served generously as Co-Chair of the successful Essential Malden Catholic Campaign and as Co-Chair of the 50 Crystal Street project expanding educational opportunity and ensuring that MC students had the very best environment for innovative learning, competitive athletics, and spiritual growth.

A driving force behind the implementation of the codivisional model in 2018, his unwavering and inspiring leadership, dedication, and commitment have brought Malden Catholic to a higher level of excellence.

In always remembering his roots, Mr. O’Donnell ’62 has taught us to see the importance of Malden Catholic in the community, the value of the mission of the Xaverian Brothers, and to always no matter where we go to be proud of and to always support our school. May you rest in peace, Joe. With immense and deep gratitude, Mr. John Thornburg and the MC community.

Dear Members of the Malden Catholic Community,

For over 90 years, Malden Catholic has been devoted to the important mission of creating emerging leaders committed to improving the world. With its dedication to the Xaverian Brothers’ mission, Malden Catholic provides students a world-class education in a setting that values each student individually while embracing them collectively as a family so students receive the support that they deserve to become resilient and successful in a changing world.

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Dan Passacantilli ’90 for being honored with the distinguished Plus Ultra recognition from Malden Catholic. Dan is a proud graduate of Malden Catholic who has never forgotten the critical role this educational institution played in his life. He exemplifies the leadership principles instilled in him at Malden Catholic because he has proven that leaders achieve their greatest success when they are lifting others up with them. In both his professional and personal life, Dan has dedicated himself to finding solutions that help others to improve their circumstances, which is one of the many reasons why this acknowledgement is so well-deserved. Dan’s commitment to the success and endurance of Malden Catholic is admirable.

I am pleased to have this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Malden Catholic community for their support and commitment to the young minds that are entrusted to them for growth and knowledge. The perseverance of this educational institution is commendable.

Sincerely,

12

Dan Passacantilli ‘90, the eldest son of Lorraine and Dan Passacantilli, was born and raised on Hanover Street in Boston’s North End. It was in that neighborhood that the importance of community and service was first instilled in Dan. His grandfather, Fred Langone, served as a Boston City Councilor for over two decades. His grandparents on the Passacantilli side owned a popular restaurant and community gathering spot, the Blue Front Restaurant, where Dan worked as a child.

Dan’s parents recognized that their son had difficulty learning in the same way as his classmates. To assist him in overcoming these obstacles, they sought the help of the Xaverian Brothers and enrolled him in Malden Catholic. The lessons and skills that Dan developed during his time at Malden Catholic stayed with him throughout his life and career. With gratitude and recognition for this impact, Dan generously supported the Essential Malden Catholic Campaign, is a loyal member of the St. Francis Xavier Society benefiting the Malden Catholic Fund, and is a stalwart advocate of the Brother Kevin Program, which provides additional academic resources to students who need them. Dan and other alumni also assist with tuition for students who require financial aid to attend Malden Catholic.

Dan is also a dedicated contributor to Malden Catholic’s mission to cultivate the next generation of leaders. He currently serves on the Development Committee

for the anticipated expansion of Malden Catholic facilities and programs at 50 Crystal Street. As the MCAA’s President since its establishment, Dan has shown immense devotion to Malden Catholic and its alumni. He has mentored numerous young alumni, providing valuable advice and internships at his company and elsewhere and connecting them with his extensive network in the public and private sectors.

Over the past 25 years, Dan has become a highly accomplished entrepreneur and technology consultant. After a brief stint at XO Communications, he established Blue Front Technology Group in 2002, where he introduced the Trusted Advisor approach to tech consulting. This innovative technique propelled Blue Front to become one of New England’s most sought-after technology advisors, and they were even recognized as a top channel leading sales partner nationwide. Dan’s leadership and expertise have made him a highly respected resource for Advisory Boards in the industry.

In 2022, Dan joined forces with two other like-minded company founders to create AmpliX. The company quickly established itself as a leading Trusted Advisor in the nation, prioritizing its clients above all else. Recently, Gemspring Capital of Westport, CT acquired AmpliX. As of now, Dan serves as the Chief Strategy Officer of AmpliX and holds a position on the board of directors.

Dan is a proud father to two beautiful children, Adriana and Marti. He obtained his BBA in Marketing from the University of Miami. In his free time, he enjoys watching University of Miami football and Malden Catholic basketball and spending cherished moments with his family in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

Daniel has over the past thirty-four years undoubtedly committed to and distinguished himself as an integral component of creating, developing, and maintaining a positive and loving ethos for our Malden Catholic community. Each day, he exercises his talents as a modern-day Renaissance man with an empathetic and caring ear and heart to make, his school, Malden Catholic, a better place.
