DickSumbergearnedhisBSBAfromBostonCollegein1968witha degreeinEconomicsandHistory.Thedraftinterruptedhisplansforlaw schoolafterBCandSumbergserved6yearsintheMassachusetts NationalGuard.Healsoworkedforhisfather’sfirmsellingindustrial suppliesandtoolsandwentontoearnaSuffolkUniversityMBAin1974. Afterhisfathersoldthefirm,Sumbergsoldlifeinsuranceand investments,establishingTheFinancialAdvisors,LLC.,acomprehensive financialplanningandinvestmentfirmlocatedinAndoverand Newburyportin1992.Inaddition,Dickhasservedontheboardsofthe followingorganizations:EssexCountyCommunityFoundation,the EssexCountyHabitatforHumanity,FamilyServicesoftheMerrimack ValleyandEdgewoodRetirementCommunity.

LolliSumberghasadegreefromSalveReginaUniversityinNewport,RI andworkedasanelementaryschoolteacherinpublicandprivate schoolsfor20years.Herareaofspecialinterestisancienthistory.She hasbeenactiveinseveralcommunityorganizationsincludingthe AndoverHistoricalSociety,theLeagueofWomenVotersandAndover ABC.

TheSumbergsarelongtimeloyalandgenerousbenefactorsofMalden Catholic.TheyaremembersofthePlusUltraSociety,theSFXSociety andtheBrotherGilbertLegacySociety.TheSumbergswerealsostrong supportersoftheEssentialMaldenCatholicCampaign.Dickadditionally servedontheMaldenCatholicBoardofTrusteesforover9years.

Dear Alumni, Girls Catholic Alumnae, Parents and Friends of Malden Catholic,

Welcome to our 17th annual Leading Beyond Gala! We are delighted that you are here with us tonight to share this extraordinary celebration.

Leadership, character and success are simple words which embody the essence of Malden Catholic's mission and purpose For 91 years, generations of young adults have flourished at Malden Catholic, and our school continues to cultivate men and women who exemplify these values.

In this tradition, we are thrilled to celebrate a couple who personify these pillars –Richard (Dick) ’64 and Lolli Sumberg, longtime loyal and generous benefactors of Malden Catholic We honor Dick and Lolli as members of the Plus Ultra Society, the SFX Society and the Brother Gilbert Legacy Society. The Sumbergs were also strong supporters of the Essential Malden Catholic Campaign. Dick additionally served on the Malden Catholic Board of Trustees for over 9 years.

Taking part in tonight's Gala allows us to gather together to celebrate as members of the Malden Catholic community, and we look forward to raising funds for student scholarships and leadership programs. We appreciate your generous support and assure you that your contribution goes a long way in helping us fulfill the mission of Malden Catholic and build a foundation for the next generation of legacy honorees.
