LEADING BEYOND 2022 PLUS ULTRA HONOREES MARGARET T. (NOONAN) MCCARTHY GC 1950 AND DR. DANIEL J. MCCARTHY 1950 Generations of extraordinary young adults have flourished at Malden Catholic, and our school continues to cultivate men and women who exemplify leadership, character, and success. In this tradition, we are thrilled to celebrate a couple who personify these pillars – Mrs. Margaret T. (Noonan) McCarthy GC 1950 and Dr. Daniel J. McCarthy 1950. After enjoying a nursing career that took her to five states and nine different hospitals as a staff nurse and supervisor, Margaret later earned a BS degree from Emmanuel College. While in her early 50s, she began a successful 30-year career in real estate on Boston’s North Shore. Dan earned his AB from Dartmouth College, an MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business, and his DBA from the Harvard Business School after four years as a U.S. Navy Officer. Dan retired from Northeastern University in 2017 as a University Distinguished Professor and the McKim-D’Amore Distinguished Professor of Global Management & Innovation. He also served for 29 years as a Corporate Director of Clean Harbors Inc., the last ten years as Lead Director. He remains an Associate at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.

The McCarthys are longtime loyal and generous benefactors of Malden Catholic. They have established scholarship funds for Malden Catholic Girls and Boys Divisions as well as an earlier Fund in memory of Margaret’s cousin Margaret M. Dunphy 1961 and are members of Malden Catholic’s Plus Ultra Society and the Saint Francis Xavier Society. We are most grateful for their tremendous dedication and commitment to our school.

MISSION STATEMENT Since 1932, Malden Catholic has been known in the community for its rigorous academics, award-winning programs and curriculum that is designed to improve individual growth mindset, leadership principles and success outcomes. MC shapes emerging leaders in our community, claiming a Nobel Laureate, a Senator, two ambassadors and countless business leaders among its alumni. MC also enhances character formation through the living articulation of the Xaverian Spiritual values. In addition, foundational to student success is Malden Catholic's codivisional model which offers single-gender academics during the day and expansive integrated social and cocurricular opportunities after school.

We are so pleased that you are here tonight to share this extraordinary celebration with friends, old and new. Leadership. Character. Success. These simple words embody the essence of Malden Catholic’s mission and purpose. For 90 years, generations of young adults have flourished at Malden Catholic. MC continues to cultivate young men and women who, through their experiences at the school, go on to achieve personal and professional success and make a difference in the lives of others. In this tradition, we are thrilled to celebrate Margaret T. (Noonan) McCarthy GC 1950 and Dr. Daniel J. McCarthy, Jr. 1950, a couple who personify the pillars of Leadership, Character and Success. We honor Dan and Margaret for their loyal and generous support of Malden Catholic students and for the way they exemplify the Xaverian values of simplicity, humility, compassion, trust and zeal. These two individuals have impacted the lives of many others in this community in so many positive ways!
