I believe successful technology begins with people . Systems can be upgraded, but it is the dedication, motivation, and teamwork of our colleagues that make the real difference . As a leader, my role is to provide clear direction, empower my team to make decisions, encourage them to learn from challenges, and inspire them to take pride in their achievements . I embrace the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) approach —planning with purpose, taking ownership, evaluating results, and continuously finding ways to improve . Above all, I believe leadership is not simply about giving instructions, but about standing alongside my team, especially during our most challenging and busiest moments . STORIES OF THE MONTH
When a VIP family guests arrived at the hotel Rataj was ready to welcome them . She had already prepared their rooms, amenities, and keys to ensure a smooth arrival . But when she saw that the guests were elderly and accompanied by a helper, she realized that their journey to perform Umrah would require additional care .
Retaj immediately acted . She arranged wheelchairs and personally accompanied the guests toward the Holy Mosque . When a transportation fee for the third accompanying person had not been covered, she personally paid for it, ensuring no one was left behind . But Retaj went even further . She waited while the guests completed their Umrah and accompanied them safely back to the hotel . Even though her shift had ended, she stayed until she knew they were safe and comfortable . She continued to follow up on their well -being throughout their stay until departure .

The lobby was busy after the Isha prayer when Waleed, one of our Security Guards, noticed something that others might have overlooked —a young girl standing alone, visibly anxious and distressed . Waleed immediately recognized that something was not right . Instead of waiting for someone else to respond, he approached the child and gently tried to understand what was wrong . Overcome with fear, the girl began to cry .

The language barrier made the situation more challenging, but Waleed remained calm and focused . Nazmi from Management joined him and was able to communicate with the child in her native language . Together, they patiently pieced together the information and discovered that the girl’s parents were staying on the 24 th floor .
Waleed and Nazmi immediately took the necessary steps to ensure she was safely reunited with her family . When the parents saw their child again, their relief was accompanied by heartfelt appreciation for the team members who had stepped forward when their daughter needed help .

LEARNING& DEVELOPMENT
PEOPLE As a trainer, Hussein Ahmed Mehran has become one of the most influential figures in the Housekeeping Department at Makkah Hotel & Towers. His journey into hospitality began far from the industry; after graduating with a Law degree in Egypt and aspiring to join the Public Prosecution, he moved to Makkah in search of work. In 1997 he started as a Room Attendant and gradually progressed to become the Housekeeping Manager. While this career path is inspiring, his true impact lies in training and developing people. Hussein is known for his fully hands-on training approach. He works directly with new employees inside guest rooms, demonstrating every step of the job—from proper cleaning standards, safe chemical handling, waste reduction, and time management, to maintaining quality under pressure and delivering respectful service to the Guests of Allah. He does not stop at initial training; he continues to follow up with employees daily, offering ongoing guidance to ensure skills are reinforced and performance steadily improves. One of his most effective methods is grouping new employees with experienced staff members. By pairing a new employee with a seasoned one, learning becomes faster, more practical, and rooted in real operational situations. This approach has significantly accelerated employee development and raised the overall quality of the department. Throughout his career, Hussein has trained more than 1000 employees throughout his 29 years of work in Makkah Hotel and Towers during seasonal programs, delivering hundreds of training hours during Ramadan and Hajj. His training goes beyond technical skills; he focuses on building well-rounded professionals by teaching safety, discipline, teamwork, integrity, respect for guest belongings, and confidence in decision-making. Hussein believes that effective training begins with building confidence before skill, and he expresses his philosophy clearly: “A person elevates the place, not the other way around… and I train to help people rise, grow, and become the strength of their workplace.”
Hussein Mohran .
Housekeeping Manager
Many employees who started as trainees under Hussein have progressed into roles such as supervisors, senior supervisors, team leaders, and trainers within the department . This people development is one of the achievements he values most . Operationally, one of his strongest accomplishments is maintaining zero pending departure requests during peak seasons, reflecting strong training, team readiness, fast room turnaround, accurate coordination, and high performance under pressure . As a trainer, Hussein continues to build a culture of learning and integrity, proving that true excellence comes from those who choose to elevate others through guidance, patience, and sincere dedication . .

The NAMES Behind the
MEMORIES
When a guest remembers your name, you know you have made more than an impression -you have made a connection . In hospitality, a guest may forget the details of their stay, but they rarely forget how someone made them feel . A warm welcome, a thoughtful gesture, a helping hand, or simply going the extra mile can create a moment that stays with them long after they leave . That is why, every month, we take a moment to celebrate something truly special : team members who are remembered by name in our guests' reviews . Throughout the month, we randomly select guest reviews that specifically recognize our colleagues by name and share their stories with the hotel community . These reviews are more than compliments —they reflect the personal impact our team members have made on the guest experience . CLEAN
AS YOU In the workplace, especially in kitchens and food preparation areas, cleanliness does not mean waiting until the end of the work period to clean the area . Instead, it starts with continuous cleaning while performing tasks . This is known as the Clean as You Go principle, which means : clean as you work .
In a busy food preparation environment, several activities take place at the same time, making cleanliness an essential part of the workflow . Clean as You Go is a practical work habit that encourages employees to maintain control of their workspace throughout their tasks, rather than treating cleanliness as a separate activity . making it an important part of everyday food safety practices . Why Is Clean as You Go Important? • Preventing the buildup of food residues and waste . • Maintaining clean, sanitized, and organized work areas . • Reducing pest attraction and saving time at the end of the shift . What Does This Look Like in Practice? 1. In the Kitchen Clean and sanitize surfaces , remove food waste promptly, clean spills immediately, and keep tools and equipment in their proper places . 2. In Daily Life and Work : Instead of letting tasks or clutter pile up until the end of the day or week, tidy up right away (like organizing your desk after finishing a file, or putting an item back in its place immediately after use) .
