Trussville only a couple of years ago. While attending high school, Ashlyn West worked for a local arts and crafts business on Main Street. One day, a 10’x10’ space within the business became available. This young entrepreneur saw the potential in that small, empty room to open the business that she had dreamed of. In March 2016, she remod-

eled, decorated, and stocked the small boutique using the money in her own personal savings account she had saved as a child. She found her own suppliers, shopped for clothes that appealed to sense of style, then used the balance of her savings to purchase inventory to begin her new business. For the first four months, she was the only employee of her little

enterprise. But within those four months, the boutique outgrew its location, and by July of that year, she had moved her business into a standalone location on Main Street. Last year, the business expanded yet again and now occupies a 2,400 square foot building on Main Street. Depending on the season, she now has up to five employees on staff.

Lolley provided an example to the board based on current year-to-date sales. “To give you an example, I ran some rough numbers pulling sales from year-todate through November and calculated $46,000,” he said. “We truly do,” Lolley said. “That is one of our main goals of this contribution to the school district.” Lolley added that a scholarship fund will also be part of this partnership. “My favorite part about this partnership is setting up a scholarship fund,” Lolley said. “Two deserving students will be selected at the end of the year. The process will go through a selection committee.” The contribution will be filtering 25 percent to the Trussville Athletic Foundation, 25 percent to the newly created Courtesy Buick GMC Scholarship Fund, and 50 percent to the Trussville City School’s General Fund (for the use of technology, supplies, etc.). “It will be pretty simple,” Lolley said. “At the end of the month, we will calculate the amount of units, cut the check, and send it directly to the school system. Hopefully our numbers will continue to grow and bring more than the example I provided you tonight.” Trussville Board member Bill Roberts and Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill thanked
