TRUSSVILLE — A Trussville teen charged with capital murder will stay in jail until his trial, after having his bond revoked by a Jefferson County judge. District Judge Shanta Craig Owens entered the ruling on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020. The prosecution requested the bond be revoked after an arrest on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. Steven Chase Lafoy, 18, is charged with capital murder in the death of Trent Thomas Parkerson. Lafoy was 17 at the time of the shooting, on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. For the capital murder charge in April, Lafoy was given a bond and posted a $500,000 property bond to be released from the Jefferson County Jail. However, that bond could be revoked after prosecutors said he was arrested on Wednesday, for possession of marijuana. According to prosecutors, Lafoy and a female passenger were in a car parked near First Baptist Church Trussville.

entities across Jefferson County will be able to request the drone any time it is needed. “We are there to support our public safety and government entities,” Tate said. The drone can be used in emergency situations, including search missions. “The object here is we have had a number of children that have wandered off and certainly Alzheimer’s and dementia patients that get out of the house and whoever is with them didn’t notice, so that is when this thing really comes in handy,” said Tate.

During a search, a pilot can set the thermal imaging feature to only identify specific temperatures. “So, I’m excluding extremely cold things, I am excluding extremely hot things, like car engines,” said Tate. “I am looking for body temperature so hopefully we can find the missing person very quickly and get to them and take care of them.” Another use for the drone is for traffic conditions and investigating crashes.
