Peters For the Tribune Frequenters of Chickfil-A can expect decreased wait times thanks to planned upgrades to the kitchen and drive-thru areas. The guest experience improvements will come after an estimated six-week store closing to allow for renovations. To serve the growing customer base within the Trussville area, the restaurant will upgrade the current kitchen with a 386-foot expansion, adding to the rear of the building. Operator Mark Nichols noted, “This is primarily a kitchen remodel. We’re adding basically another kitchen which will allow us to produce more food in less time. It will also increase our capacity and efficiency inside, which will allow guests to get through the drive-thru faster.” Local Owner and Operator Mark Nichols estimates the business growth over the past five years to be approximately 60%. “That amount of growth can create a backlog in the drive-thru at some points. TRUSSVILLE --Aldi has signed a lease to take over the space in Homestead Village that was once planned for a Fresh Market. The long-expected move was confirmed on Thursday by Miller Terry of Blackwater Resources. The new store is expected to open in April. According to Terry of Blackwater, Aldi will occupy 21,950-square-feet and plans to bring their new concept design to Trussville. Addi-

SPRINGVILLE – City Council members tackled a full agenda at the regularly scheduled Oct. 15 meeting, which was immediately preceded by two work sessions. A special work session provided time for presentation of the Traffic Operations Study. Springville resident Richard Caudle presented the study results on behalf of the Advance Planning, Programming, and Logical Engineering (APPLE) Program. After significant discussion, the Council passed a resolution approving expenditure of up to $65K for installation of a temporary red light at the intersection of Hwy 11 / Main Street and SR 174 / Murphrees Valley Rd. Ordinance 2018-13 Sweetwater voter district passed unanimously, which places residents of the Sweetwater subdivision into District 2 per recommendation of the city’s voter district consultant. ST. CLAIR COUNTY — On Friday morning a fire broke out at the St. Clair County High School press box. The blaze is being described as a grease fire and is a total loss. St. Clair County High School has a football game scheduled against Munford on Friday night. That game has been moved to Moody and is set to start at 7 p.m. St. Clair County High School is hopeful that next Friday’s game will be played at home, but are prepared to kickoff at Springville if it is necessary.

From The Trussville Tribune staff reports CLAY - Renderings of Bryant Park Elementary School, a brand-new K-5 elementary school slated to open in the Spring of 2020, have been approved and released today by the project’s architect, Turner Batson. The new school will be built within the Clay City limits behind Bryant Park and the Boys and

Girls Club off Old Springville Road and is expected to reduce the number of students at both Chalkville and Clay Elementary Schools as well as pull Grayson Valley students from Pinson schools. “The excavation will start in Jan. 2019,” said Councilor Ronnie Dixon said. “The architect drawings are complete, schematic drawings are supposed to be finished this month and then the bid will
