TRUSSVILLE – The new Trussville Metro Diner is slated to open on March 12, according to an employee from their Birmingham location. The new restaurant will be located between Tutwiler
Drive and Calumet Parkway on Highway 11, and motorists along Highway 11 received a sight on Thursday as new signs were installed for the location. Metro Diner describes itself as a place that offers a commitment to creating dishes from scratch, utilizing
unique recipes and offering imaginative twists on old classics. Metro Diner’s menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including a breakfast offering that boasts traditional eggs, bacon and even Eggs Benedict, to lunch and dinner fare such as meat loaf, chicken and waf-
fles, and Charleston shrimp and grits. Fans of burgers and sandwiches are also covered by Metro Diner, which carries a large variety of each. Trussville Capital Investments LLC is the developer of the project and has completed several previous developments in the city.

Trussville City Schools’ Bruno named top curriculum administrator in Alabama From The Trussville Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE — For three straight years, the percentage of students at Hewitt-Trussville High School meeting the College and Career Readiness Standards has increased. The most recent state data indicates 89 percent of HTHS students meet at least one of the CCRS benchhmarks. The recently released school report cards by the Alabama State Department of Education gave Trussville City Schools the second highest score in Alabama, trailing only Mountain Brook City Schools. Now, the TCS administrator responsible for student curriculum and professional development for teachers during the growth period has been named tops in Alabama. Beth Bruno, the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction of Trussville City Schools, was recently named the top curriculum administrator in Alabama by the Alabama

Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development (AASCD). Bruno took over as the interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in June 2014. In January of 2015, the TCS board made the move offi-
cial and Bruno has served as the assistant superintendent since. Dr. Jennifer Cardwell, who works with Bruno overseeing secondary curriculum, said the quality of professional development under Bruno has been key.
“Mrs. Bruno’s continuous learning practices are infectious and she expects others to be as proactive as she in continuously learning and growing professionally,” Cardwell said in a written statement. “The quality professional development she facilitates ensures our learning organization maintains a growth mindset towards continuous learning.” TCS Superintendent Dr. Patti Neill said Bruno uses a team approach to create procedures that help all TCS administrators and teachers grow professionally, academically and personally. “She wants everyone in TCS to be successful in their roles and works to make sure all have the tools to be as effective as possible,” Neill said in a statement. “Ms. Bruno is an outstanding leader that has truly lead our system to the next level of excellence.” Bruno will be recognized at AASCD’s Summer CLAS Conference and will be honored at the Feb. 19 Trussville Board of Education Meeting.
