Sanders and Trump win primaries in Revere By Barbara Taormina

ike their neighbors in Everett, Lynn, Malden and a few other greater Boston area cities, Revere residents came out for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who won 36.5 percent of the city’s vote in Tuesday’s Democratic presidential primary. Although former Vice President Joe Biden pulled out a surprise victory in the Massachusetts race with 33.6 percent of the Bay State’s total vote, he came in second in Revere with 30.2 percent of the ballots cast. Senator Elizabeth Warren finished third in the city with 14.6 percent, followed by former New York City Mayor Michael
Bloomberg, who ended the night with 12.5 percent of Revere’s votes. Of the 1,383 Revere residents who cast ballots in the Republican primary, 1,279, or 92.4 percent, voted for President Donald Trump. Former Massachusetts Governor William Weld came in a distant second with 54 votes, or 3.9 percent of the votes cast. Valentino Capobianco of Winthrop, and Gabriella Coletta of East Boston were reelected to serve new terms as the Democratic State Committeeman and Committeewoman for the First Suffolk and Middlesex District.
