Sanders and Trump win primaries in Revere

L

ike their neighbors in Everett, Lynn, Malden and a few other greater Boston area cities, Revere residents came out for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who won 36.5 percent of the city’s vote in Tuesday’s Democratic presidential primary.

Although former Vice President Joe Biden pulled out a surprise victory in the Massachusetts race with 33.6 percent of the Bay State’s total vote, he came in second in Revere with 30.2 percent of the ballots cast.

Senator Elizabeth Warren finished third in the city with 14.6 percent, followed by former New York City Mayor Michael

Bloomberg, who ended the night with 12.5 percent of Revere’s votes.

Of the 1,383 Revere residents who cast ballots in the Republican primary, 1,279, or 92.4 percent, voted for President Donald Trump. Former Massachusetts Governor William Weld came in a distant second with 54 votes, or 3.9 percent of the votes cast.

Valentino Capobianco of Winthrop, and Gabriella Coletta of East Boston were reelected to serve new terms as the Democratic State Committeeman and Committeewoman for the First Suffolk and Middlesex District.

three -spor t athlete signed on to play field hockey at Dean College in Franklin on Monday afternoon. Chloe Giordano, a field hockey goalie, power forward in basketball, and track runner at Revere High School, plans to study sociology with an education minor to, hopefully, become a Department of Child and Family Services case manager after graduation. Giordano plans to be a goalie or play field hockey defense at the four-year small, private liberal arts institution in southeastern Massachusetts – a Division III school.

A Northeastern Conference All Star, she helped her team in the longest winning streak

during her senior year, with 12 wins. Giordano also aided her team in winning the first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) field hockey tournament in 31 years.

She attributes her success to her coach, Briana Scata.“I’m very thankful for her,” Giordano said. “She always gave me good advice.” Besides Scata, she also thanked her younger sisters, who look up to her for her success – Reiley, Kendall, Madison and Presley – and her parents, Jay and Melissa.

“She’s an old soul,” mother Melissa Giordano said.“A good role model, she takes care of all of us, always asking if we need anything.”

Although her mother said she didn’t get her athletic ability genetically, she is proud

that she will continue to play a sport in college that she loves and plans to become a social worker.

Revere High School Athletic Director Frank Shea said a three-sport athlete is a rare breed and less popular these days; he is happy to see Giordano continue playing field hockey at the collegiate level. Her teammates echoed the same sentiment. RHS Field Hockey Co-Captain Kayla Armetta said she will do great things at Dean, adding that Revere High will miss her.

Agreeing, RHS Field Hockey Co-Captain Emily Woodman said she is very happy to see Giordano sign on to Dean, adding that she can do amazing things, both academically and athletically.

Northeast Metro Tech Hosts Educational Visioning Sessions for Building Project WAKEFIELD – Superintendent David DiBarri is pleased to share that Northeast Metro Tech recently held three educational visioning sessions regarding a potential building project.

Northeast Metro Tech was invited to take part in a feasibility study with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) in April 2019 for a building project which would replace the current school building. Currently Northeast Metro Tech operates out of a more than 50-year-old building in significant need of classroom space more conducive to modern learning, as well as capital and maintenance improvements.

A group of approximately 30 Northeast Metro Tech educators, students, administrators, School Committee members, Advisory Board members, parents and architects volunteered to take part in the sessions, which were held in late February at the school. Frank Locker, a national expert in planning public schools, facilitated the sessions.

we were able to gather for these sessions,”said Superintendent DiBarri. “This has the potential to be an incredibly exciting chapter for Northeast Metro Tech, and we’re looking forward to the next steps in this process.”

Participants took part in threehour workshops for three days, in which they reviewed research in education and example school facilities in order to collectively define the most effective methods of teaching and learning, as well

as school facility designs to best serve future generations of career-technical students. The workshop sessions included slide and video presentations, small group work and discussions with the entire group.

Information gathered during the sessions will be used by the district to create an educational plan, which will be part of the final MSBA feasibility study for the project. The feasibility study is expected to be completed by fall 2021.

Office Manager Ivelisse Garcia, who is happy to have a bigger office after seven years, said the company offers friendly, honest, professional service. “Thanks to a lot of people spreading the word and saying good things, we were able to move,” Garcia said.

Police Chief and Mayor announce Revere Police will hold Citizens Police Academy and Senior Citizen Police Academy this spring Revere Citizens Police Academy Police Chief James R. Guido is happy to announce that the Revere Police Department will hold the Citizens Police Academy beginning in April 2020.

The Revere Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy, which will allow residents to get a look at police operations in weekly classes this spring.

The Citizens Police Academy is designed to familiarize citizens with the operation and function of the Revere Police Department. Participants will be instructed by members of the Department as to the responsibilities of their various units. Citizens will gain an understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement in today’s society.

The goal of the Academy is to develop a unique partnership between citizens and the Police Department that beneďŹ ts both.

Captain Amy O’Hara will serve as the Academy’s Director.

The tentative agenda includes a tour of the police station, a ride along with oďŹƒcers, and a K9 demonstration. Participants will also learn about the Department’s patrol division, criminal investigation division, narcotic investigations, and topics like gang intervention, domestic violence and the inner workings of the police department.

The Revere Police Department Citizens Police Academy is oered to all Revere residents 18 years of age or older and business owners in the city and those who otherwise have a vested interest in the community. Due to the sensitivity of the content of classroom discussion, simple background checks are mandated, and the Police Chief approves the ďŹ nal selection of participants. Candidates must be able to commit to the class schedule; only one excused absence will be al-

lowed in order to graduate and receive a CertiďŹ cate of Completion. Class size will be limited to 20 people.

This will be a seven-week program with graduation ceremonies in week seven. The Academy will meet once per week on Wednesday nights starting at 6 p.m. at the Revere Police Department Community Room.

Each session will last approximately two to three hours. The Academy will run from April 8 through May 20 with graduation on May 20, 2020.

Revere Senior Citizen Police Academy Mayor Brian M. Arrigo invites Revere’s seniors to enroll in this year’s Senior Citizen Police Academy – April 7 through April 28 at the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center at 25 Winthrop Ave. Organized through the collaboration of Police Chief James Guido and Elder Aairs Interim Director Deb Peczka, the Academy provides seniors with a better understanding of law

enforcement and the law enforcement profession. Classes, taught by members of the Revere Police Department, will focus on issues that are most important to seniors. “Too often, our seniors are targets of criminal activity, including telephone scams, or worse,â€? said Mayor Arrigo. “By educating our seniors about ways to detect criminal activity, and what to do about it, we are creating a senior population that can eectively help themselves and help law enforcement to protect all our residents.â€? “Senior Citizens will gain a wealth of information and knowledge on various topics while developing productive relationships with our oďŹƒcers,â€? said Chief Guido.

The Community Service Division under the command of Captain Amy O’Hara, along with Community Resource OfďŹ cer Gerald Salvati, Community OďŹƒcer (Ret) Revere Police Lieutenant Carl Borgioli and other Revere Police OďŹƒcers will meet each week with class par-

Late-season surge highlights Revere boys’ season

osing by a wide margin in the opening round of the Div. 1 North playoffs was not what the Revere High School boys’ basketball team envisioned when they qualified for this year’s tournament. But with some time to contemplate the 2019-20 season, head coach David Leary focused on the posi-

tive aspects, most notably a sixgame winning streak to conclude the regular season.

“That was not the way we wanted to end our season,” Leary acknowledged in reference to a 90-49 tournament loss at No. 6–seeded Waltham last Tuesday. “But we should be proud of what we accomplished, especially the six-game winning streak down the stretch

The late-season surge culminated in a championship trophy at the annual General Patton Tournament at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. The Patriots clinched a playoff spot when they knocked off Arlington Catholic in the opening round of the Patton Tourney.

Councillors support robocall warnings on coyotes

C

oyote sightings are on the rise and the City Council is looking at ways to keep residents informed and safe.

At the last City Council meeting, Ward 6 Councilor Richard Serino proposed that Animal Control Officer Anthony Masiello work with Revere 311 on CodeRED robocalls to residents in neighborhoods where coyotes have been spotted, especially if there’s a pattern with multiple sightings in the same area. “West Revere in particular has seen an uptick in coyote sightings down St. Mary’s and more recently at the dog park,” said Serino. “I just thought that perhaps the city should start doing something to notify residents.”

Serino suggested that calls go out to homes within a quarter or a third of a mile from the spot where the animal is sighted. He also suggested scheduling a public meeting where Maisello could talk to residents who are nervous and concerned about coyotes and the threat they pose to

small pets.

Fellow councillors were quick to jump on board with Serino’s proposal.

“This is a big issue and I think we should be proactive moving forward,”said Councillor-at-Large George Rotondo, who added that it’s not just small pets but also small children who are at risk. He suggested reaching out to state agencies, such as the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game and the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife for help with the problem.

“The coyote population in Revere has exploded,” said Councillor-at-Large Anthony Zambuto. “They are on High Street on a regular basis even in the daytime.”

Zambuto echoed Rotondo’s call for assistance from environmental and wildlife agencies and organizations. “We need some state action,” he said. “If nothing else just be alert – these are serious animals.”

Originally from the western part of the United States, some experts believe coyotes moved east because their natural pred-

ators had been hunted and killed off by settlers. Other wildlife advocates say the rise in the coyote population is linked to the loss of their natural habitat due to the expanding development of cities and towns.

“It’s their mating season now, so there’s a ton of coyotes out there,” said Councillor-at-Large Jessica Giannino. “It’s a regional problem that’s happening everywhere, not just in Revere.”

Giannino also said the city has a great community resource at Revere High who is an expert on coyotes. She suggested that if the city does hold a public meeting on the problem, he could be invited to help residents better understand the animals and how to guard against them.

egistered Democrats in all Wards of Revere will hold a caucus on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Room of 382 Ocean Ave. in Revere to elect Delegates and Al-

ternates to the 2020 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. Revere armed robbery suspects also wanted in Malden and Everett F

ollowing an intensive investigation, two men were arrested for an armed robbery with a firearm that reportedly occurred in Revere on February 19 at the Speedway Gas Station on Squire Road. Maitiu Sheriff, 21, of Everett, was charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm, violating the city’s knife ordinance, resisting arrest and a probation warrant. Ernest Deane, 48, of Quincy, was charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm.

arm charges are being sought by the Everett Police and an attempted armed robbery-firearm charge is being sought by the Malden Police, for two incidents that took place on February 26.

Sheriff was arrested on February 28 when he was located

by Revere Police Sergeant John Cannon. Sheriff fled on foot as Cannon approached him at the 7-11 located on Beach Street.

Sheriff was subsequently taken into custody a few blocks away on Broadway in Revere. As a re-

sult of the ensuing investigation, search warrants were sought and executed at Sheriff ’s residence in Everett.

On March 2, Deane was taken into custody for the February 19 armed robbery in Revere.

“Good police work helps keep residents safe,” said Revere Police Chief James Guido. “From the patrol division, the detectives who conducted a thorough investigation and the collaboration with Malden and Everett Police, our communities are safer.”

Early voting, springtime weather, a home-state candidate and supposedly high voter interest seemed to have little effect on the city’s turnout. Just 28 percent of Revere’s 28,814 registered voters made it to the polls on Tuesday, a significant decrease from the 2016 presi-

dential primaries when close to 39 percent of the Revere’s eligible voters cast ballots. Turnout was strongest in Ward 5, Precinct 1A, where slightly more than 40 percent of registered voters cast ballots. Biden came out on top in that precinct with 38.5 percent of the vote. Biden also carried Ward 5, Precinct 1, where just under 36 percent of registered voters went to the polls.

As a result of this week’s primary, 34 of the state’s 91 delegates to the Democratic convention will go to Biden, 26 to Sanders and 17 to Warren, who

is said to be reassessing the future of her campaign. Bloomberg, who did not pick up any delegates in Massachusetts, announced on Wednesday that he is quitting the race and endorsing Biden.

Key provisions provide $15 million for heating energy assistance to help low-income seniors, working families and other households pay winter heating bills. Another item ensures that the Healthy Incentives Program that provides fruit and vegetables to recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamp) is available all year-round.

Other provisions include $2 million for smoking prevention and cessation programs; $300,000 for the Cannabis Control Commission; and $2.8 million for the Early Intervention Program for families of children up to three years of age who have developmental difficulties because of health or environmental conditions.

Supporters said the budget is necessary to cover expenses and to fund various state

programs and agencies that are running out of money. They argued the funding reflects immediate deficiencies to crucial programs that our constituents rely on every day.

Only final approval is needed in both branches prior to the measure going to Gov. Charlie Baker.

Joseph Boncore Yes DEADLINE FOR FILING AMENDMENTS (H 4507) On Wednesday February 26, the House 120-31, approved a motion that set Friday, February 28, 2020 as the deadline for representatives to file amendments to H 4506, the $600 million tax hike bill to pay for improvements in the state’s transportation system. Provisions include increasing the gas tax by five cents for most drivers and nine cents for diesel fuel; increasing the excise tax on jet fuel from five percent to 7.5 percent; raising fees on Uber and Lyft rides by up to $145 million; requiring corporations to pay as much as $150 million in higher minimum taxes; and eliminating an exemption for rental car companies that has allowed them to avoid paying the sales tax on new vehicles purchased in Massachusetts for their rental fleets.

Supporters of the February 28 (2-day) deadline said the deadline gives legislators ample time to file amendments to this important bill.

Opponents of the February 28 deadline said representatives received a copy of the legislation only hours ago and argued that providing two days to draft and file amendments is unfair. They said Monday, March 2 is a more reasonable deadline that will give members four days to do so.

“We ended the last fiscal year with a multi-million dollar surplus, our Rainy Day Fund is at an all-time high of $3.47 billion, the state is moving forward with plans to put a $2 billion millionaires tax on the 2022 ballot, and now we’re being asked to take up a proposal that will raise taxes by another $600 million,”said Rep. Brad Jones (R-North Reading.) “This bill will have a significant, long-term financial impact on the state’s taxpayers and the business community. In fairness to the members, there should be additional time given to review the proposal and to file amendments.”

“We’re talking about government, and students wrote letters to state/local officials,” Napier said in his office.“It’s great to see him talk about his work as leader of the commonwealth.”

Napier called Baker accessible, down-to-earth, and someone who students can aspire to be like.

“It felt really cool to have him here,” third grade student Cindi Tejada Erazo said, who asked Baker what his favorite part of being governor was.

Beware of Potential 2020 Census Scams Dear Savvy Senior, Can you offer some tips to help seniors guard against census scams?

With the 2020 census gearing up, I’ve read that there are a lot of potential scammers out there looking to take advantage of older people and I want to protect myself.

Cautious Judy Dear Judy, Unfortunately, scams have become a persistent problem when the U.S. Census Bureau does its once-a-decade count of the U.S. population. Here’s what you can expect from the 2020 Census in the coming weeks, and how you can protect yourself from potential scams.

What to Expect In mid-March, you and nearly every other U.S. household will receive an invitation in the mail to respond to the 2020 Census.

This year, you will have the option of completing the 2020 census questionnaire either online, by mail, or by phone. The invitation will include detailed instructions of what you need to do.

If you don’t respond to this invitation letter, you will receive several follow-up postcard reminders from the Census Bureau by mail. If you still don’t respond by late April, a census worker will come to your door to collect your response in person.

It only takes a few minutes to complete the census questionnaire.

While census participation is very important and required by law, you also need to be vigilant of census-linked scams. This is especially important for seniors who tend to be prime targets.

The Census Bureau warns against phishing email scams as well as con artist masquerading as census workers who will try to solicit your personal financial information. Here are some tips that can help you protect yourself.

Guard Your Information Don’t give out your personal or financial information. The Census Bureau or a legitimate census worker will never ask for your Social Security number, bank account number, credit card number, money or donations. And they will never contact you on behalf of a political party. If you’re asked for any of these, whether it be via phone, mail, email or in person, it’s a scam and should be reported to rumors@census.gov.

Avoid Online Scams The Census Bureau will not send you an unsolicited email to request your participation in the 2020 Census. So, ignore any emails you get that may direct you to a census website that looks real but is fake – and may be infected with malware. Also, don’t reply to the email or open any attachment because they could contain viruses that could infect your computer. Forward the email or website address to the Census Bureau at rumors@census. gov. Then delete the message.

Be Safe at Home If someone visits your home to collect a response for the 2020 Census, make sure you verify their identity. A legitimate census taker must present a field badge that includes a photograph of themselves, a Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date. Census workers will also be carrying a Census Bureau laptop or cellphone, as well as a bag with a Census Bureau logo.

Also, remember that a census worker will only ask you the questions that appear on the questionnaire – your name, gender, age, race, ethnicity, phone number, type of residence and number of people living with you. They will not ask for sensitive personal information, such as your Social Security or credit card number.

If you have questions about their identity, you can call 800-9238282 to speak with a local Census Bureau representative. If it is determined that the visitor who came to your door does not work for the Census Bureau, contact your local police department.

Several city councillors who were at the meeting said they have been fielding calls from

parents concerned about the 26 Revere High students who spent February vacation on a school trip to Italy, which has since seen a dramatic increase in cases of coronavirus primarily around Milan.

“Our students did not visit Milan,” said Assistant School Superintendent Josh Vadala, who added that the school department reached out to the CDC, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Revere Board of Health for advice.

Unlike other students and travelers who recently toured Italy, the places the Revere students visited, and the time frame and duration of their stay, were factors in the decision not to quarantine the group.

“We did get guidance that there was a very low risk; we reviewed the itinerary of where the students traveled; we met with the students and none were exhibiting any symptoms, and the decision was made to readmit them to school,” said Vadala.

School nurses have met with Vadala and Public Health Nurse Carol Donovan to review symptoms, protocols and best practices in monitoring the health of all students in Revere, particularly in cases of flu and coro-

navirus. “We are confident are nurses are doing everything they can do to keep kids safe,” said Vadala.

Kong said there is a possibility that cases of COVID-19 will start to decrease with the change of seasons because as temperatures rise viruses can no longer remain active.

But Councillor-at-Large George Rotondo wanted to know what would happen if the opposite occurred. “What happens if it expands, what is the city going to do?”asked Rotondo. “It’s a big if, but an important if.”

Kong said plans are in place at every hospital to deal with that type of outbreak. And Donovan, who also serves as the deputy director of the city’s health department, said that Revere has its own emergency plan. “I’ve been working on the medical emergency operations plan since 2004,”said Donovan.

“It’s a plan that allows us to be prepared to dispense vaccines or pills to the community if anything becomes available from the state.”

But Donovan added that a response to a medical emergency in Revere won’t depend exclusively on city health officials.

“We will be working with everyone in the community to get it done,” she said.

RoseLee Vincent Yes IMPROVEMENTS TO LOCAL AND REGIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM (H 4503) House 149-0, approved and sent to the Senate a bill to improve the delivery of public health services through enhanced collaboration between local boards of health and regional health districts. A key provision creates a State Action for Public Health Excellence Program to encourage boards of health and regional health districts to adopt practices that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of local public health services. The program would also provide grants to improve these health systems and requires not less than 33 percent of the grants go to cities and towns with a median household income below the state average.

Other provisions include the state providing at least four annual free public health educational and training opportunities to boards of health and regional health district officials; and setting minimum standards for local public health services.

Each of the state’s 351 cities and towns has its own board of health which is designed to ensure many health-related items including food safety in restaurants, response to public health emergencies, housing code violations and water quality at beaches and pools. Cities and towns have vastly different staffing levels and most small towns lack a full-time staff.

“Public health departments of the 351 communities of the commonwealth deal with issues seen and unseen across a wide range, from water quality and effective sanitation to substance use disorders and suicide prevention,” said the bill’s co-sponsor Rep. Denise Garlick (D-Needham). “These are the issues and concerns of the quality of life in Massachusetts. This bill is vitally important and timely given our current concerns over emergency preparedness with infectious diseases such as… [the Coronavirus].”

“This legislation will work toward ensuring each resident of the commonwealth has access to the public health services they need to live a healthy life, regardless of their zip code or the size of their community,”said

co-sponsor Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury). “[The bill] will significantly strengthen our local and regional health systems by tackling many of the financial and operational burdens municipalities face.”

RoseLee Vincent Yes ID CARDS FOR HOMELESS (S 2555) Senate 37-0, approved and sent to the House legislation that directs the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to implement a specific, burden-free, no-cost process for persons experiencing homelessness to obtain state identification cards. The process would accept alternative forms of documentation to prove Massachusetts residency since homeless people often do not have the usual documents necessary.

“State IDs are essential for everyday life,” said the bill’s sponsor Sen. Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester). “Without one you can’t get a job, open a bank account or access stable housing. Obtaining a state ID usually means gathering a few documents, waiting in line and paying a small fee. But for people experiencing homelessness, especially unaccompanied homeless youth, a few documents and a fee are insurmountable barriers. The state must implement a specific, burden-free process for the homeless population to obtain identification cards.

This [bill] is a matter of helping people get back on their feet and breaking a cycle of poverty.”

(A “Yes” vote is for the bill.)

Sen. Joseph Boncore Yes PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (S 2554) Senate 37-0, approved and sent to the House a bill that updates terminology in current state law and investigative practices related to the protection of persons with disabilities. The bill replaces “disabled person” with “person with a disability” and renames the Disabled Persons Protection Commission which would now be named the Commission for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities. This independent state agency is tasked with protecting adults with disabilities from abuse through investigation, oversight, public awareness and prevention. The commission investigates instances of abuse committed against persons with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 59 through an act or omission of their caregivers.

The bill’s sponsor Sen. John Keenan (DQuincy) said that the legislation makes a

number of administrative changes that will enable the commission to streamline and enhance operations and increase protections for persons with disabilities, including improving interagency collaboration for extreme risk cases and codifying an expanded definition of what constitutes abuse.

“People are not defined by the disabilities they may have – they are so much more,” said the bill’s sponsor Sen. John Keenan (D-Quincy). “This legislation recognizes that important truth. It places the proper emphasis on people instead of their disabilities.”

(A “Yes” vote is for the bill.)

Sen. Joseph Boncore Yes VIDEO CAMERA MONITORING SYSTEMS ON SCHOOL BUSSES (S 2553) Senate 13-24, rejected an amendment that would allow cities and towns to install and operate video camera monitoring systems, with audio recording capabilities, on school buses to catch drivers who violate traffic laws and don’t stop when a school bus has its red flashing lights on.

All recorded video images obtained through the use of the monitoring system that do not identify any violations would be destroyed within 30 days. Images that identify a violation would be destroyed within one year. School buses installed with the monitoring system would post signage indicating the use of the system.

“While school buses are statistically the safest way to transport school children, according to National Association for Pupil Transportation, between 2008 and 2017, there were 1,241 people killed in schooltransportation-related crashes—an average of 128 fatalities per year” said the amendment’s sponsor Sen. Diane DiZoglio (D-Methuen). “Twenty-two other states explicitly allow local governments or school districts to use cameras to capture images and issue tickets for drivers illegally passing stopped school buses, with violators subject to fines, revocation of driver’s licenses and even criminal charges. It is time Massachusetts steps it up on this issue and passes this important public safety legislation, which will go a long way in supporting efforts to save lives and prevent injuries.”

Amendment opponents said the underlying bill already allows cities and towns to install and operate video camera monitoring systems, on school buses. They noted the amendment unnecessarily raises fines from $25 to $250.

“[This amendment] mainly operated to increase fines available through camera enforcement,” said Sen. Will Brownsberger (D-Belmont). I voted against it because I feel we should not be imposing heavy financial burdens on people. I believe the certainty of a modest fine is enough to reduce unsafe driving behavior.

Critics say that the Legislature does not meet regularly or long enough to debate and vote in public view on the thousands of pieces of legislation that have been filed. They note that the infrequency and brief length of sessions are misguided and lead to irresponsible late-night sessions and a mad rush to act on dozens of bills in the days immediately preceding the end of an annual session.

OBITUARIES Richard Paul “Rich” Gallucci

A

ge 75, a retired bus driver and resident of Tewksbury since 2005, died peacefully in the care of his family and hospice at the Sawtelle House in Reading, Saturday, February 29. He was the beloved husband of Maryjane (Colbert) Gallucci, with whom he had celebrated a twelfth wedding anniversary this past September 15.

He was born in East Boston the son of the late Victor and Philomena (Cardinale) Gallucci, and lived in East Boston and Revere, until moving to Tewksbury in 2005.

He began his career as a bus driver for the M.B.T.A. based throughout greater Boston for his first 25 years. Upon his “T”retirement, he spent the next 15 years with Paul Revere Bus Lines, and the last 10 years of his career in Downtown Boston, driving shuttle busses for Mass General Hospital.
