The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge’s Hummingbird Banding Day is coming up on August 8th! Join us at our Visitor’s Center from 8 to 12 to see live banding in action, try your hand at hummingbird themed arts and crafts, and discover more about these miniscule migratory birds from documentaries played in the auditorium throughout the day. Master Bander Cyndi Routledge recommends showing up early for the best chance to see birds getting banded!
The Friends of Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge will be set up to sell hot lunches on the back patio for $5, and you can even “adopt a
hummingbird” for $10 to get information about a banded bird and have the chance to release a banded hummingbird if there are enough birds available.
At 2:00, the Refuge will be showing “The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies” as our monthly free movie! Follow along as millions of butterflies make the perilous journey for their seasonal migration. Free popcorn will be available during this time for those who would like some!
