SEASON’S GREETINGS!!! FORDHAM HILL!
The holiday season is here!!! It has been a difficult 2 years, brought on by the pandemic and correlating global economic downfall, but we are approaching again “a new normal” in our country, city, and at Fordham Hill. Our Community has had enormous tragedies, nevertheless… we have managed through it all, to f ind moments to celebrate and commemorate… ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦

During a Memorial Service, we took a time to reflect on, and to commemorate, the lives of all of our loved ones who we lost in our Community. We empowered our future scholars with the Backpack Giveaway! Finally, we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families again! The Board of Directors was happy to once again collaborate with Councilman Fernando Cabrera’s office, to provide turkeys to our Seniors through the Committee on Elders. So here we are at the end of another year !!! It is the season of lights, Hanukkah… Christmas… Kwanzaa… and a New Year approaching. Next year we will be observing the 40th Anniversary of Fordham Hill Owners Corporation! We need to celebrate this important milestone. Please contact the Management Office, if you would like to be part of the Organizing Committee. We have made it this far, our Community is stronger than ever. Yes there are financial challenges ahead
but we will meet them head on..and yes… find light on the other side. The Board is so grateful for our Community. This is why we are unified, hardworking and committed to chairing Committees. As a result we have made advancements in structural improvements, and amenities (Electrical Upgrade, Playground, Health & Fitness Center, Condo Control) that will continue to improve quality of life for us all. Streamlined communication is so important to increased transparency. Condo Control has enabled us to provide more information faster and more efficiently. Our corporation is moving forward with our digital transformation! In addition, we thank our Staff and Management Team for their commitment and hard work to keep our Community thriving! Finally…yet as importantly are our residents and shareholders who work together with the Board to make Fordham Hill Oval a wonderful place to live!!! Hope that you and your family have a Blessed Thanksgiving… ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦

“Season’s Greetings” Fordham Hill Owners Corporation Communications Committee Rachel Bradshaw, Erin Calderon, Avril Duewson, Tiffany Hart, Karolina Pietrynczak, Carolyn Weddell and Kathy Williams
It is again the season of light. Yes, the days are shorter, and the sun leaves us in darkness for longer. Yet… beginning at end of October, we find ourselves carving pumpkin lanterns, displaying Diwali lights, celebrating the lamp oil miracle of Hanukkah, dressing Christmas trees with multi-colored constellations, and lighting the candles of Kwanzaa…starting with the principle of Umoja/Unity. The enormous star topper on the second building in our Oval has now become a permanent fixture…once it was a seasonal beacon… welcoming latter-day wise men and women.
And here we are!!! It has been a good year here in our “garden enclave on the Hill.” Not perfect, but as with everything in life, it is okay to have room for improvement. The effort and activism of all who live here prevails… We the residents of Fordham Hill are strivers … not in the sense of “keeping up with the Joneses,” but in making our home both within and without our gates, a diverse and unified community. We continually work to make life here green and pleasant, both for long-time residents, and for future shareholders. In this edition of our Holiday Newsletter, we give thanks for how far our Oval community has come and for our resilience in the face of global pandemic and economic turmoil. We have not been spared, but we will prevail… and we can indeed build a beautiful city. We have built …and will continue to build … a shining Fordham Hill.

THANK YOU-MANAGEMENT Dear Shareholders & Residents, In this season of light and cheer, we would like to wish our Fordham Hill residents and Staff. A Happy and Joyful Holiday!!! We have been through so much change and growth together this year. In this moment, we pause and celebrate the light of goodness, kindness, possibilities, and hope shown by so many of you through your words, actions and humanity towards one another. Given the unprecedented dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are comforted and humbled by stories of gratitude for those who have gone above and beyond during the most difficult times. It is more than a year since the global lockdown, yet we all learn to adapt, adjust and evolve while maintaining our business continuity, as we strive to achieve the best outcomes possible. However, heroes are born out of moments of crisis, and our Fordham Hill community is not short on heroes. Residents and staff equally delivered amazing compassionate care and service, when people needed it most. Together with your collective effort, concerted support and selfless service we were able to ease the burdens of a tumultuous year. This year especially we owe a deep debt of gratitude, to the various committees and volunteers. Whether they organized events, meal deliveries, hygiene care kit (mask, sanitizers etc.) distribution, COVID-testing or vaccine rollout… these are few snapshots of how blessed we are as a community. We have seen their strength and resolve of a community union of individuals, groups and organizations working together for the benefit of all. Life is a series of problem-solving opportunities, and the COVID-19 pandemic helped us realize that we could not navigate
this on our own. We applaud our residents for exercising patience, cooperation, understanding and overwhelming support, as we piloted through unchartered territory. Your great contribution has helped reduced the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and given us a fighting chance of surviving this horrible epidemic. While our primary focus remains with the health and safety of all families, we are immensely proud of the resilience, flexibility and professionalism employed by our Staff. We commend them for being pillars of service to the community as well as by example. Let us show our appreciation to the Staff by making a monetary contribution during this season of giving. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to all essential workers such as paramedics, firemen, doctors, nurses, police and everyone who put themselves in harm’s way every day for us. They are the true heroes and the best that humanity has to offer. As we come to the end of 2021, let’s all continue to be mindful of those around us. As we have seen in so many ways throughout the year, kindness and empathy can be incredibly powerful, even transformative. To those who lost their loved ones, please accept our heartfelt condolences, and may their memory forever live on in your hearts. Management remains confident in the power of our residents and of our collective ability to come out stronger. Together our goals have been ambitious, our challenges varied and interesting, and our accomplishments many. Above all, we would like to extend our boundless gratitude to the hard-working Board of Directors, for their trust, support and partnership, as we continue working selflessly for the greater good of the community.
With warmest wishes for renewed health… healing… and happiness … during this holiday season and beyond... Let us all be grateful for our many blessings…a New Year of hope… and a Season to be thankful.

THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE OF TREES

In the winter, our trees hibernate and the leaves retreat as the snow covers our Oval… presenting the most perfect picturesque wonderland. In the spring the sun awakens our trees, and the green leaves start to sprout again… preparing for warm weather and greener pastimes. In the summer our fully blossomed green trees stand tall and joyful basking in the sun… as they enjoy our Summer Festival. Our fall trees display all their character… showing off their beautiful yellow and orange leaves that complement our pumpkins adorned on the Oval, as the kids dress in costumes during the Fall Festival… and as we salute our Veterans during our very own Veterans Day Celebration. The trees and landscaping of Fordham Hill are as important to the Oval … as the tall buildings and the people. They are proud… commanding your presence… as you walk into our community. Trees represent life! They are living, transformative and beautiful… Submitted by a Shareholder

OUR BELOVED VETERANS When you see someone in a uniform, Or someone who have served their duty’s call Whether it’s the Army, Navy or Air Force, Marine Corps or the Coast Guard. Take a moment and thank them For answering their country’s call, Because the life of a Veteran Is uniquely unmatched in character, height short or tall. You understood your assignment for the sacrifices made, Oh what comforts we enjoy and the freedom we partake. Unfortunately, some dreams never reached their fruition and we are sad to say but we salute the many lost including: Ronald, Carlos, Gerald and William. Therefore, all are present earn the title “veteran,” and more; With deep respect and admiration; You are extraordinary no one can ignore. And if I tap you on your shoulders and give you a wink or a smile, Is because I haven’t been brave enough to go to battle to carry a Remington, Uzi, or 45. This day in November, Veteran’s Day we should not forget Prestige, Board and Fordham Hill, are aware of this large debt. We owe our veterans the support and friendship I suggest; Let no one ever question your worth. Brave men and women, our veterans are the very best.

Tree Lighting & Caroling You are cordially invited to join us in front of the Christmas tree in front of Building One for hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday music on Saturday, December 4th at 7pm.
Please take note, the Oval will be closed from 6-9pm as we gather around for some holiday cheer. We will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for children in need until December 12, 2021 at the Management Office. Help us spread the holiday joy to those with less.
