City’s Historic Crime Reduction Continues Through November

The city is enjoying what the de Blasio administration has called an unprecedented reduction in index crime, and that trend continued through November 2017, Police Department brass and the mayor noted in a press conference on Monday.

According to the latest available CompStat figures, there were four fewer murders; 17 fewer shooting incidents; and 656 fewer index crimes last month, compared with November 2016. Year-to-date, these reductions contributed to the 5,141 fewer overall citywide index crimes, compared with 2016.

“I’ve been going to CompStat since 1996 and to have a year like we had last year in 2016 was pretty amazing,” said Police Commissioner Jim O’Neill. “But the fact that what we’re doing this year, continuing that trend and making those decreases go even deeper, is really nothing short of amazing.”

According to the NYPD, there were 1,172 robberies reported in November 2017, compared with 1,289 in November 2016. This is a reduction of 117 crimes.

There were 1,407 felonious assaults reported last month, compared with 1,611 during the same period last year. This is a reduction of 204 crimes. There were 1,016 burglaries reported in November 2017, compared with 1,091 in November 2016.

were 3,617 grand larcenies reported in November 2017, compared with 3,824 in November 2016. This is a reduction of 207 crimes. And there were 480 grand larceny autos reported last month, compared with 543 in November 2016. This is a reduction of 63 crimes.

The only major index crime to see an increase was rape. According to the department, there were 111 rapes reported in November 2017, compared with 96 in November 2016 – an increase of 15 crimes.

“On the rapes, particularly disturbing when I look at the rapes – we’ve had

– when you finished August in New York City we were down seven percent rapes for the year. September we were up four rapes, but October and November – two months in a row, we have seen double digit increases percentage wise in rapes,” noted Chief of Crime Control Strategies Dermot Shea.

“That coincides with a lot of the news media coverage of late. Very difficult to say the role that plays in it but that is two months in a row of double digit increases.”

But Shea was still encouraged by the overall theme of record decreases in the vast majority of major crimes.

“Nine straight months of reduced index crime; 15 of the last 16 months we have knocked down index crime in New York City; 21 straight months reduced robberies, shootings down 12 of the last 13 months,” he said. “We’ve had 52 days this year without a shooting in New York City. And for those of us that have been around for a while that is unbelievable. In just two years we have doubled that number. Fifty-two days this year no one went to a hospital in New York City after having been shot.”

De Blasio Announces Major Changes to Senior Staff

De Blasio on Thursday announced several changes to his senior staff, including the departures of First Deputy Mayor Tony Shorris and Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policy Initiatives Richard Buery, who have been with Hizzoner since his first day in office in January 2014.

Melee outside South Richmond Hill Hookah Lounge leaves One Dead, Five Injured

Cusenza An Arverne man has been charged with stabbing two men and then intentionally driving his vehicle through a crowd on the sidewalk – striking five individuals, including one of the stabbing victims – outside of a South Richmond Hill lounge just before dawn on Sunday, according to the City Police Department and Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Adrian Harry, 22, was arraigned on Monday night on a criminal complaint charging him with one count of seconddegree murder, one count of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree attempted assault, five counts of second-degree assault, six counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of fourthdegree criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered held without bail and to return to court on Jan. 4.

If convicted, Harry faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

According to the complaint, Harry was parking his white 2016 Hyundai Sonata in front of XS Hookah Café on Liberty Avenue near 127th Street around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday when he allegedly tapped the bumper of the white BMW parked directly behind him. tercation, Harry allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the men in the torso and the other in the abdomen.

“During the ensuing dispute, involving a group of people who were outside the lounge, the white Hyundai sedan then drove from the scene and mounted the sidewalk approximately half a block away at 128th street. Six individuals were struck by the vehicle, resulting in one fatality. All of the other victims are hospitalized,” said Asst. Chief

Richardo Chattergoon, 23, reportedly a friend of Harry, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Brown, the five other victims were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Two of them were placed in intensive care – one victim suffered bleeding to the brain and is currently in a medically induced coma and the other suffered a fractured pelvis and trauma to the

frontal lobe causing a brain bleed that will require surgery.

Brown noted that the incident allegedly was ignited by a petty parking dispute.

“What allegedly began as a minor tapping of fenders turned into a deadly predawn horror show that left a young man dead and others seriously injured,” he added. “The crimes alleged here are beyond senseless and the defendant now faces a lengthy term of incarceration if convicted.”

Think Twice Before Gifting a Pet this Holiday Season: Addabbo

By Forum Staff A pet might not be the best holiday gift idea this year, at least according to State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach), who discussed on Monday the pros and cons of surprising a loved one with a furry new best friend.

There are many factors that come with owning a pet that a person must consider before bestowing an unsuspecting recipient with one, the senator noted. Owning a pet is a long-term commitment, Addabbo said; pets are not something that can be discarded or abandoned like an ugly sweater or unwanted toy.

“If you really want to gift someone a pet this holiday season, just be sure that they understand the responsibilities that come with owning an animal. Surprising someone with a pet isn’t good for the pet or the new owner,” Addabbo added. “Taking in a pet isn’t a passing fad; it is a commitment that can last for many years. The owner should be ready to accept that responsibility.”

When making the decision to buy a pet for someone, Addabbo advises you to first make sure the person actually wants a pet. If you are not confident that someone wants a pet as a gift, the best thing to do is

with a new pet. There will be veterinarian bills, food costs, grooming, walks, the need for accessories and toys, and much more.

If the person you are considering gifting a pet to cannot handle these costs or will not have time to dedicate to the animal, it may be best to rethink that gift – which could cost upwards of $1,000 a year.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ official position on giving pets as gifts: They should only be given to those who expressed interest in owning one, and who have the ability to care for and maintain it responsibly.

Addabbo also noted that pets do make wonderful companions and can bring unmatched joy into someone’s life; so if a person can handle everything that comes along with owning and caring for a pet, “a loveable ball of fur” can make the perfect gift.

Threats of Violence Shake up Borough Schools

The principal of PS 58 received a phone call regarding a threat on social media of future school shootings that included the Maspeth institution.

By Michael V. Cusenza A recent social media posting that involved threats of violence to at least three borough schools prompted an investigation by the City Police Department and a safety alert letter issued by the institutions to faculty, staff, and student guardians.

“This morning, a phone call was received by the principal regarding a threat on social media of future school shootings that included PS 58Q,” Principal Adelina Velastro Tripoli wrote in Friday’s notice. “The NYPD, NYPD Counterterrorism Unit and NYC [Department of Education] related personnel were immediately notified. We are monitoring the situation and will continue working closely with the NYPD to ensure the safety and security of our building. We assure you that every

precaution will continue to be taken to ensure that our students and staff will remain safe.”

In addition to the Maspeth school, St. Adalbert Catholic Academy in Elmhurst (located just a few blocks from PS 58), and Middle Village Preparatory Charter School were also menaced in the Instagram post.

“There was no imminent danger to anyone today,” St. Adalbert Principal, Sister Kathleen Maciej, wrote to “parents, faculty and staff ” on Friday. “The police informed me that they will be contacting me on the procedures they would take to ensure the safety of everyone. Once these procedures are made known, I will share them with you.

Tax Plan would be Disaster for Empire State: NY Dems

By Michael V. Cusenza The Senate’s approval of the GOP tax reform bill sparked a fresh round of pointed criticism from prominent New York Democrats.

The early Saturday morning party-line vote – 51-49 – gave top Empire State Dems, who have been blasting the Republican effort for weeks, more ammunition with which to rip their rivals.

“Republicans, voting on a bill they didn't even have time to read, once again proved they care more about millionaires and campaign donors than working families. They voted for a tax increase for 87 million households. They voted for a $25 billion cut to Medicaid. They voted to kick 13 million people off their health insurance. They voted to give wealthy companies a tax break at the expense of cities’ police officers, firefighters and teachers,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Thankfully, the fight isn’t over. We can win this, but only if we all get involved. We must make the voices of hard working Americans from around the country heard in Washington, D.C. It’s time to remind our legislators that they work for us, not their campaign donors.”

Last week, City Comptroller Scott Stringer released a fact sheet outlining ways the GOP tax plans in Congress hurt New Yorkers, including: • Many residents of the five boroughs could see higher taxes as a result of the elimination or curtailment of state and local tax deductibility for individuals, which currently benefits 1.3 million city

residents.

• The House plan would result in almost 700,000 NYC residents paying more in taxes. Almost half of those who would pay more are families and individuals with incomes below $100,000, who would see their taxes rise by an average $800, primarily as a result of the elimination of state and local tax deductibility.

• Eliminating or limiting the deduction for local property taxes will lower home values – usually the single biggest source of retirement savings for middleclass households.

• The House plan threatens affordable housing by eliminating Private Activity Bonds and their associated Low Income Housing Tax Credits, which finance over $1 billion in affordable housing development in the Big Apple annually.

• Under the House plan, when one of the 92,000 City public school teachers buys supplies for their classroom, they will no longer be able to deduct that expense.

• The tax plans would explode the federal deficit by $1.5 trillion over a 10-year period.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican — if you’re a New Yorker, these bills target you,” Stringer said.

“They’re economically backwards and morally wrong.”

Rockaway Residents Voice their Concerns to Mayor at Council District 32 Town Hall

Cusenza Hundreds of Council District 32 residents, civic leaders, and elected officials joined Mayor Bill de Blasio and several City commissioners and agency representatives on Tuesday evening in Belle Harbor for a lively, informative – and lengthy – town hall that saw Hizzoner address constituent concerns of neighborhoods that didn’t exactly turn out for him in droves in last month’s election.

District 32 covers Howard Beach, Lindenwood, Ozone Park, Belle Harbor, Breezy Point, Broad Channel, Lindenwood, Neponsit, Richmond Hill, Rockaway Park, Roxbury, South Ozone Park, West Hamilton Beach and Woodhaven—but Rockaway communities played center stage at Tuesday’s confab at PS/MS 114.

Sponsored by Community Board 14 and the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, the

town hall was hosted by CD 32 Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park), who has ripped de Blasio over the past four years for everything from the budget to the bungled homeless crisis.

“We’ve been friends for a long time – you don’t have to agree on everything to have a friendship,” the mayor said of his relationship with Ulrich in opening remarks on Tuesday.

De Blasio, who was witty and ingratiating throughout the evening, thanked Rockaway residents and business owners “for all you do; and I know that comes at a cost, with sacrifice.”

Hizzoner recalled visiting peninsula communities in the days after Superstorm Sandy, when he was the City’s public advocate. He marveled at how some areas “looked like a bombing run,” and at how neighbors stepped up for neighbors in a time of utter despair.

“This community is committed to each other,” de Blasio remarked. “And I hope tonight to show you that we are committed to you.”

To that end, the mayor highlighted some recent Rockaway-focused initiatives, including the $145 million investment for up to seven resilience projects to help protect communities in the Rockaways from the impacts of climate change. “[The City] understands how vulnerable [Sandy] has made you feel,” de Blasio said.

“Communities like Broad Channel have gotten some improvements, but Lord knows we’ve got more work to do.”

De Blasio pledged to demand more work from the Army Corps of Engineers when he heads down to Washington, D.C. in January.

“I will tell Army officials that Rockaway needs more protection quickly,” he added.

De Blasio also touted the arrival of NYC Ferry and what that has meant to the pen-

“Oh yeah, we added these ferries – did you hear about them?” the mayor asked with a wry smile, eliciting laughter. “We built these things so no one could take them away. God help the mayor who tries to take [the ferry] away from this community.”

Transportation was a scorching hot topic of the evening, with the consensus of the crowd being that the City needs to do more for Rockaway, which has been derided for decades as a “transportation desert.”

“We have a transit crisis in Rockaway,” de Blasio admitted before touting the wildly unpopular Woodhaven-Cross Bay Select Bus Service (“You can say you don’t like it, but I guarantee it will help”), and asking for patience while the Metropolitan Transportation Authority continues its feasibility study of reactivating the long-defunct Rockaway Beach Rail Line.

Girlfriend of Rikers Island Inmate Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Murder

The girlfriend of a Riker’s Island inmate is facing 6 to 18 years in prison after she plead guilty to hiring a killer to dispose of multiple witnesses scheduled to testify against her jailed lover.

Latisha Larrymore, 33, of Jamaica, Queens. Larrymore, who has been held without bail since her arrest last year in May, appeared before Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael B. Aloise and plead guilty to one count of second-degree conspiracy with the understanding that she will be sentenced to six to eighteen years of incarceration on January 17, 2018.

Larrymore plotted to kill witnesses preparing to take the stand against her boyfriend Edward Leasure, 38, of Jamaica, Queens, was is charged with committing two armed home invasions on March 16, 2015.

District Attorney Richard Brown described the twisted plan conceived to stop the testimony that would keep Leasure behind bars for a long while.

“In an attempt to help her boyfriend avoid punishment by intimidating or eliminating potential witnesses against him, the defendant now finds herself facing serious time behind bars. Witness protection is a top

In Larrymore's case, she and Leasure’s father, Eddie Marcus, conspired between April/ May of 2016, to hire a hitman to murder witnesses before Leasure’s home invasion trial. Authorities say Marcus approached a person known to the investigation and asked

the individual to kill multiple people set to testify at his son’s trial in exchange for money. He provided the names and addresses of the witnesses and a time frame within which the murders should be completed. As part of the conspiracy, Larrymore had subsequent recorded conversations with the “hitman”, where she discussed the payment for his services and the means by which the murders should be carried out.

Larrymore advised the individual that she knew someone who could sell him a gun and a silencer. At the time of her arrest, she stated to police that Leasure was worried about witnesses and that she received a call from him who told her to meet with Marcus and that Marcus found a “lawyer” who will take care of the situation and that “lawyer” is the code word for hitman.

Larrymore also stated to police that the hitman wanted $4,000 up front and that she told him that the rest of the money would be paid after Leasure was out of jail.

On August 22, 2016, Leasure pleaded guilty to second-degree conspiracy in the conspiracy to commit murder case and firstdegree burglary in the home invasion cases.

He was then sentenced to 12 to 24 years in prison on his conspiracy plea and 24 years in prison on his burglary plea. The case against Eddie Marcus is presently pending trial.

Two Men Charged in Pattern of Borough Cell-Phone Store Robberies

Shortly after, the man re-entered the store and continued to inquire about a cell phone, at which point Ingram came in, and started a conversation with the store employee. As Ingram began to leave the store he held the front door open with his foot, and the other man grabbed two cell phones – worth more than $1,000, and fled the store. LIC Man Charged with Murder

A 19-year-old Long Island City man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Astoria resident in the afternoon hours of December 2, 2017.

“The senseless killing of this young man is another example of why my office remains vigilant in the fight to rid the streets of Queens County of illegal firearms. The defendant showed no respect for human life when he viciously shot a 20-year-old man who had a long life ahead of him. He will be vigorously prosecuted.”

The defendant is identified as Javyn McNish, 19, of 21st Street in Long Island McNish allegedly shot Lewis on 36th Street near 14th Avenue in Astoria.

McNish was arraigned this week in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Danielle Hartman on charges of second-degree murder and two-counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Judge Hartman held the defendant without bail and ordered him to return to court on December 18, 2017.

If convicted, the defendant faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

According to the charges, at approximately 4:10 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in front of 14-01 36th Avenue, McNish, who is also identified on video surveillance, fatally shot the victim, Jarrel Lewis, 20, of Astoria, twice in the torso and once in the hand.

Thief Swipes Cell Phone from Vic’s Hand in South Richmond Hill

Korean National Pleads Guilty to Violent Flushing Hate Crimes

By Forum Staff A 35-year-old Korean National has pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery as a hate crime in connection with the vicious attacks on two Chinese women who were robbed and assaulted last year. The defendant at the time of his arrest told police, “I don’t like Chinese people.”

“In pleading guilty, the defendant has now admitted to attacking the two Asian women because of his hatred for Chinese people", said DA Brown. "The defendant, who is Korean, spotted each woman when she was alone in public and pounced upon them - punching them in the face and then stealing their cash and credit cards. This kind of bigotry and hate are not acceptable in a civilized society and will not be tolerated in Queens County. The defendant’s guilty plea is another example of our refusal to accept this type of behavior.”

Lee stated in sum and substance, “I wanted to fight someone because the Chinese people were rude and smoking in the car...I wanted to pick a fight and that is when I saw one female cleaning snow and we made eye contact.”

Lee also stated he became even more angry when he and Ms. Chou made eye contact and he said he “couldn’t take it any more. I decided she’s the one. I started beating her.”

In the second attack on February 10, 2016, Lee spotted the victim, Ziao Feng, as she walked toward her apartment building and pounced on her. The defendant reigned punches on the woman’s face and then ran off with her handbag, which contained her credit cards, identification and about $2,000 in cash.

At the time of his arrest, Lee stated that he had been driving home when the victim cut him off in traffic and failed to signal, so he followed her and when she parked her car he continued to follow her on foot and then attacked her. Staying Warm-A Challenge for Thyroid Patients Grumbling about the cold won’t make it go away, and for some people, those dealing with thyroid conditions, the winter can be especially taxing.

We’ve put together some tips for those of you with thyroid conditions and how to survive the winter in a little more comfort.

The thyroid gland is like a thermostat for our bodies. People with a sluggish thyroid are prone to having low body temperature and are prone to cold intolerance. If your thyroid function is low, you need to take some precautions to protect your health.

Strategies for warming up and giving your thyroid a break: Get plenty of rest.

Keep your home temperature warm.

If you happen to have a landlord that is stingy with the heat, getting a note from your doctor may provide some prodding. If you do need to go out into the cold, dress in layers.

Hot baths are a nice way to get yourself warm without making your thyroid do all the work!

If you can’t make it to your local pharmacy to buy a heating pad, try filling an old sturdy sock with rice. Make sure you tie the end securely and then heat it in the microwave for two minutes—just be careful that it’s not too hot when applying it to your body!

Soaking your feet in hot water for 5-10

minutes will warm up the rest of your body.

Cuddling and holding hands with your significant other or your pets can help you get through the cold. Spouses and pets are will share their heat with you for back and belly rubs. Did you know that the saying “Three Dog Night” is thought to originate from Eskimos who would keep dogs in their igloos to help them warm up on particularly cold nights!

Balancing your blood sugar will help you stay warm. Be sure to eat high quality fats and proteins every few hours and limit sugary and starchy foods.

Foods known as thermogenic can increase the metabolism, and can actually create heat when converting food to energy.

Some common spices in this category are: chili, mustard, red pepper, black pepper and red hot chili peppers.

Don’t leave friends and family “out in the cold,” let them know you need a little more heat than the average bear.

Remember, people with thyroid conditions are more likely to experience the "Winter Blues".

Supreme Court Ruling Gives Green Light to Trump Travel Ban

By Michael V. Cusenza The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday effectively granted the Trump administration permission to carry out the latest iteration of its travel ban.

According to the Supreme Court and published reports, President Donald Trump’s third version of the original travel ban can go into effect while appeals work their ways through lower courts.

“In light of its decision to consider the case on an expedited basis, we expect that the Court of Appeals will render its decision with appropriate dispatch,” SCOTUS wrote in an “Order in Pending Case.”

In September, Trump announced an expansion of his original travel ban, which he issued just days after the inauguration. Trump signed the Executive Order “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” in late January. This action sought to bar refugees from entering the United States for the following 120 days; and preclude all immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries – Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen – from entering the U.S. for three months.

City Comptroller Scott Stringer called the ruling “deeply troubling and unbelievably saddening.”

“There are many court decisions throughout history we wish we could take back, decisions that legalized and codified discrimination. This is one of them,” Stringer added.

“Let there be no doubt that history will view this moment as emblematic of a dark time in America.”

New York Pols Urge GOP Leaders to Include DACA Fix in Long-Term Spending Bill

By Michael V. Cusenza Two New York elected officials on Sunday urged Republican leaders to include a measure in a long-term spending bill that reverses President Donald Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (DN.Y.) stood with Rep. Adriano Espaillat, DREAMers, advocates, and community leaders in Gillibrand’s Manhattan office to announce that she will vote against any long-term spending deal that fails to protect Dreamers.

According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, DACA is a policy developed during the Obama administration that allows certain people who came to the United States as children, and meet several guidelines, to request consideration of deferred action from deportation for two years, subject to renewal. They are also eligible for work authorization. Deferred action is a use of prosecutorial discretion to defer deportation for a certain period of time.

Deferred action does not provide lawful status, USCIS noted.

In September, the Trump administration initiated the orderly phase out of the program.

“DREAMers are Americans who know no other country as home besides the United States, and Congress must take action to protect them,” Gil- Sen. Gillibrand said Congress “must take action to protect” DREAMers.

The BRIDGE Act would codify the DACA program, and the DREAM Act would create a pathway to citizenship for individuals who came to the U.S. under the age of 18.

“It is critical that we work to pass a clean DREAM Act in an effort to protect DREAMers,” Espaillat added. “These young people have lived in the United States for 10 years or more and are productive and contributing members of our society, raising families, serving in our military, and bettering our communities.

I take this fight very seriously and personally because I know how it feels and what it means to be young and undocumented in America. I vow to continue my work in Congress to ensuring these young people have an opportunity to succeed in the only country they have ever called home.”

Schumer Pushes Retailers to Block Cyber Bots

By Forum Staff Opportunists are using cyber bots to scoop up popular holiday gifts, from dolls to gaming equipment, for resell on other websites at outrageous prices, according to Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, who on Sunday called on two of the leading retail trade associations to block the bots and lead the charge against future efforts to prevent customers from buying toys at fair retail prices.

Schumer said bots are sophisticated computer programs often used by scalpers and brokers that plague the online sale of many items.

“Grinch bots cannot be allowed to steal Christmas, or dollars, from the wallets of New Yorkers,” Schumer said. “Middle class folks save up—a little here, a little there— working to afford the hottest gifts of the season for their kids but ever-changing technology and its challenges are making that very difficult. It’s time we help restore an even playing field by blocking the bots. When it comes to purchasing products online, major retailers should put forth policies that will help prevent future Grinch bots from stealing the season’s hottest toys.”

Schumer noted that the same cyber scalpers responsible for having scooped up tickets to Broadway shows and major concerts have migrated to in-demand holiday toys. For example, popular Fingerlings— which typically sell for $14.99—are now being sold on secondary websites for as much as $1,000.

Schumer also pointed out that last year, Congress passed the Better Online Ticket Sales Act, co-sponsored by New York’s senior senator, which prohibits the unfair and deceptive act of using mechanisms such as bots in order to scoop up tickets before con-

sumers are given a fair chance to buy them.

However, the legislation does not include items beyond tickets, Schumer noted.

That’s why Schumer has sent a letter to the National Retail Federation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association to investigate the prevalence of bots on their members’ websites and help their members institute best practices to subvert these computer programs.

The senator’s staff searched online for some of the year’s top holiday toys: WowWee Fingerlings, Super Nintendo entertainment system NES Classic Edition, the L.O.L. Surprise! Doll and the Barbie Hello Dreamhouse Playset. In addition to the Fingerlings mark-up, Schumer’s office found: • Super Nintendo entertainment system NES Classic Edition, which sells for $79.99, was out of stock online at BestBuy, Game Stop, and Target. However, the item was available on Amazon and eBay for as much as $13,000.

• L.O.L. Surprise! Doll, which sells for $9.99, was out of stock online at Toys-RUs, Target and Walmart. However, the item was available on Amazon and eBay for as much as $500.

• Barbie Hello Dreamhouse, which sells for $300, was out of stock online at ToysR-Us. However, the item was available for sale on Amazon and eBay for as much as $1,500.

“Consumer Reports urges retailers and policymakers to work together to develop solutions, so that consumers will be able to shop for toys and other gifts on a level playing field,” said Chuck Bell, programs director of Consumers Union, the policy and mobilization arms of Consumer Reports, who joined Schumer at his press conference on Sunday.
