Most Crime Categories down in Howard Beach, but Auto Break-ins Still an Issue

By Michael V. Cusenza Captain Brian Bohannon, commander of the 106th Precinct, delivered good news and a sliver of bad news to residents who attended the Howard Beach-Lindenwood Civic meeting on Monday.

Let’s start with dessert: According to the latest City Police Department year-to-date statistics, overall crime in Howard Beach has declined by more than 13 percent, compared to the same period last year. Nearly

every one of the seven major index felonies are down (murder has stayed the same.)

However, the bad news is that recently there has been a slight uptick in automobile break-ins, a problem which has plagued parts of Howard Beach over the past couple of years.

“We do have an identified [perpetrator] for at least five of the incidents,” Bohannon reported. “My Warrant Squad is currently looking for him. I’m very confident that he will be in handcuffs very soon.”

“If we see you with [fireworks], we’re going to seize them, we’re going to summons you, and you might be libel for an arrest,” he warned, later noting that all fireworks confiscated by the NYPD are destroyed in the Bronx via a controlled demolition.

In other Civic news, City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) announced at Monday’s meeting at St. Helen Catholic

Academy that he has secured mechanical broom service for Cross Bay Boulevard. Beginning the second week in July, a Sanitation vehicle will sweep the thoroughfare from Liberty Avenue all the way down to 165th Avenue. The service is scheduled for every Tuesday, midnight – 8 a.m., for 36 weeks.

“I spend a lot of time on Cross Bay Boulevard in Ozone Park and Howard Beach, and I can’t tell you how disappointing it is to see all the litter and garbage,” Ulrich added.

A 1-year-old Ozone Park boy was found safe and sound last Thursday with a family member in the Bronx after being officially declared missing for nearly a week.

According to police reports, Zayden Montero was last seen on Friday, June 16, around 10 a.m. at his residence in the temporary care of his biological aunt, Darlene Melo. On Sunday, Melo was courtordered to surrender Zayden to the New York Foundling Foster Care. On Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., a member of the foster care facility was scheduled to take custody of Zayden from Darlene Melo at her residence on Albert Road, but she fled the location and did not surrender the child, cops said.

NYPD Call Boxes Installed at Forest Park

Cusenza Security in and around Forest Park is clearly a priority for elected officials and the City Police Department as the NYPD recently posted solar-powered emergency call boxes in parts of the massive borough green space, roughly a year after crews installed 14 long-delayed hightech surveillance cameras at the park.

By the end of the month, 17 maize-colored call boxes, paid for by funds secured through the offices of Assemblyman Mike Miller (DWoodhaven) and City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park), will dot the landscape of the 544-acre patch of central and southern Queens.

“These boxes were actually part of [City Council] Participatory Budgeting a couple of years ago,” noted Ed Wendell, Woodhaven resident, activist, and president of the Woodhaven Cultural and Historical Society. “It’s nice to know that they’re there, that people can

pick up the phone and get help whenever they need it. To have that option, if you don’t have a cell phone available, is a very positive development.”

Following a string of sexual assaults in the popular park, State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (DHoward Beach) and Miller allocated $250,000 for the cameras in 2013. That same year, detectives released a sketch of the attacker, who they said has struck half a dozen times from March 2011 to August 2013 during daylight hours inside the expansive flagship green space: On Aug. 26, 2013 he used a stun gun to subdue and rape a 69-year-old woman near Myrtle Avenue and Forest Park Road; on March 29, 2013, the suspect sexually assaulted a 23-year-old jogger; on Nov. 18, 2012 he assaulted a 40-year-old woman as she walked her dog; on Aug. 15, 2012, the man fondled a 34-year-old woman at Woodhaven Boulevard and Park Lane South; he struck and attempted to disrobe his youngest victim, a 13-year-old

girl, on Sept. 7, 2011; and on March 25, 2011, in what cops believe was his initial attack, the man jumped a 54-year-old female jogger from behind on Park Lane South.

And in June 2015, a badly bludgeoned body was discovered in a remote part of the park. According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Zoltan Forai, 45, also known as Steven Forai, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter on June 30, 2016, for killing 23-year-old Diego Piedrahita. Forai was sentenced last August to a determinate term of 15 years in prison and five years’ post-release supervision.

Five-Alarm Inferno Injures 12, Including 11 Firefighters; Destroys Glendale Building

By Michael V. Cusenza A five-alarm fire tore through a Glendale building on Saturday night injuring 12 people, including 11 firefighters.

The blaze started around 9 p.m. at the Farmers Market on Myrtle Avenue near 72nd Street.

It took roughly 200 firefighters four hours to get the inferno officially under control.

The cause of the fire has not been made public.

“Another fire has ravaged the community, reminding us of just how hazardous cocklofts can be,” Addabbo said. “This is why I have continued to put pressure on Albany to adopt legislation, effectively providing economic incentives for residents to remove these dangerous structures from their homes.”

Under the new legislation, residents whose homes contain cocklofts would be able to apply for a 30-percent tax credit to repair them.

Refundable credits of up to $500 would aid eligible homeowners in affording the cost of making the improvements, Addabbo noted.

City Council Unanimously Passes Veterans Property Tax Relief Bill

Cusenza The City Council recently unanimously passed a veterans property tax relief bill that will make it easier for men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces to stay in their homes by offering financial relief, according to the legislation’s co-sponsors, Councilmen Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) and Steven Matteo (R-Staten Island), who made the announcement on Friday.

According to Ulrich, the City currently offers a veterans property tax exemption, but this does not include the school district portion of the tax bill. Veterans who are eligible for this tax break are forced to pay back the school district tax portion, which can cost upwards of $400 per property.

Council Minority Leader Matteo added, “With our city becoming less and less affordable, our veterans not only deserve, but absolutely need financial relief to help them remain in their homes, and a vital part of our communities. The Alternative Property Tax Exemption does just that, and it will have a real impact on the lives of tens of thousands of veterans and their families.”

Meng Bill Aims to Improve Grad Rates at Community Colleges

By Forum Staff U. S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Flushing) recently introduced a bill to help boost the graduation rates of community colleges.

According to the congresswoman, the goal of the Community College Student Success Act is to replicate the success of the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs, a program that first began at the City University of New York and that was piloted in the 6th Congressional District at Queensborough Community College in Bayside. Meng said that the proposed legislation would provide funding to public community colleges across the country to administer student support services, including academic advising, career counseling, and flexible financial assistance tailored to the needs of individual students.

Meng noted that while community colleges enroll almost 40 percent of the undergraduates in the country, only 20 percent of full-time CC students manage to graduate within three years.

“The ASAP program at Queensborough Community College more than doubled the three-year graduation rate of students completing an associates’ degree, and also increased the number of students who went on to complete a bachelor’s degree,” Meng said.

The funding secured by the CCSSA would help boost degree completion through the provision of student support services: Academic Advising: Advisors will provide ongoing, academic and personal advising to students including helping to clearly lay out

Academic and Career Support: Students on academic probation or who have been referred to developmental courses will be required to meet weekly with a tutor. Students will also meet with an on-campus career counselor or participate in career services events at least once a semester to promote career planning and success.

Financial Support: Students will receive a tuition waiver to cover the gap between tuition and fees and financial aid. Additionally,

students satisfying all the meeting requirements will receive a financial incentive, such as a transportation pass or gas card, at least once per month.

“We have known for some time that ASAP offers unparalleled results, graduating two to three times the number of students in three years,” said CUNY Chancellor Milliken. “And recent research has verified what we long believed – that the economic impacts of the program far outweigh the public investment. This makes a compelling case for expansion of this transformational program.”

Whitestone Man Moonlighting as Paralegal Charged with Stealing $80K from Clients

By Forum Staff A 40-year old paralegal formerly employed at a Jackson Heights law firm has been charged with stealing $80,000, and attempting to steal an additional $44,000, by claiming that he could help one of the firm’s clients and another homeowner in distress and in danger of foreclosure with loan modifications on their mortgages.

DA Brown’s office indentified as Hyun Do Kim, aka Billy Kim, 40, of Whitestone. He was arraigned on a criminal complaint charging him with second- and third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft, third-degree attempted grand larceny, first-degree scheme to defraud and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

According to the criminal charges, when Kim was employed as a paralegal at a Jackson Heights law firm between September 2009 and April 2012, he told numerous clients he could help them with loan modifications – which was not within the scope of his employment at the law firm.

Kim told one client he would take monthly payments from him and forward them to the mortgage company. He gave the client copies of false payment records and receipts for $70,000 which never was applied to the mortgage.

In September 2015, a 69-yearold homeowner in danger of foreclosure contacted Kim about a loan modification for a property he owned with an elderly relative. Kim told the two property owners to

City Releases Plan to Close Rikers Island

And according to the de Blasio administration, it will be completed “by making jails smaller, safer and fairer.”

The first step, according to the City, is to continue to reduce the size of the jail population, which today makes closure impossible. The current citywide jail population is around 9,400, and there is capacity to house only 2,300 in existing facilities in the boroughs. By 2021, through implementing new strategies to reduce the number of people who enter jail and how long they stay, the City’s goal is to reduce the average daily jail population by 25 percent to 7,000 people. With 7,000 individuals in jails, the City will be using jail almost exclusively for individuals facing serious charges or who pose a high risk–making further safe reductions difficult. Closing the jails on Rikers Island for good requires a daily jail population of just 5,000, and to get there the City has pledged to work with every part of the criminal justice system to develop strategies to further reduce violent crime and address the problem of chronic offending, which to date has been intractable nationwide.

Instead of helping people with their mortgage problems, the defendant is accused of helping himself to their money, stealing tens of thousands of dollars,” said DA Brown.

Kim, who faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, was ordered held on $200,000 bail and to return to court on July 11, 2017.

City Police Department detectives recently reached out to the public for help “in ascertaining the whereabouts” of two unidentified men who are wanted in connection with a robbery earlier this month in South Richmond Hill.

According to police reports, the two men approached the victim on Sunday, June 4, around 3:15 a.m. in front of a grocery story on Liberty Avenue near 114th Street.

From behind, Suspect #1 knocked the man to the ground, and then he and Suspect #2 removed the victim’s wallet, which contained $165 cash and ID, an earring and a neck chain. The victim, who was also struck in the face, suffered contusions, swelling and bleeding to the left side of his face and pain in his left knee, cops said. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspects are described as: Suspect #1: black and was wearing dark clothing and a white baseball cap during the attack.

Suspect #2: Hispanic and was wearing a red shirt and a neck chain at the time of the incident.

Man Admits to Authorities that he Fatally Stabbed his Cousin in their Richmond Hill Apartment

By Michael V. Cusenza A Richmond Hill man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death Monday of his cousin inside the 117th Street apartment they shared, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown and the City Police Department.

Lovedeep Singh, 24, was arraigned Monday night on a criminal complaint charging him with seconddegree murder and fourth-degree

criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered held without bail and his next court date is Friday, June 30.

According to the charges, Singh admitted to police that he fatally stabbed his cousin Sharanjit Singh, 26, in the neck and torso inside their third-floor apartment sometime between 2:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on June 26. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told reporters that Lovedeep Singh copped to the crime in front of 102nd Precinct detectives. “’I’m guilty, I’m the one who killed him,’” Boyce quoted the alleged killer.

If convicted, Singh faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

Florida Man Sentenced to up to 11 Years in Prison for Woodhaven/Brooklyn ATM Thefts, Perjury

Upstate Man Charged with Breeding, Selling Pit Bulls for Dog Fighting

By Forum Staff An Orange County man has been charged with multiple counts of prohibition of animal fighting after allegedly selling a pit bull puppy with a dog fighting championship bloodline through his website that advertises he breeds champion dog fighters.

The District Attorney identified the defendant as Dominick Barizone, 48, of Union School Road in Middletown, New York. Barizone was arraigned this morning before Queens Criminal Court Judge Toko Serita on a criminal complaint charging him with 44 counts of violating sections of Agricultural and Marketing Law 26-351 (prohibition of animal fighting) and one count of fifthdegree conspiracy.

Judge Serita set bail at $50,000 bond/$25,000 cash and ordered the defendant to return to court on August 23, 2017. If convicted, Barizone faces up to four years in

prison. District Attorney Brown said that, according to the criminal complaint, a detective with the New York City Police Department’s Animal Cruelty Investigations Squad contacted Barizone after viewing his website. The website’s home page features the front cover of Sporting Dog Journal, a dog fighting magazine, and includes titles for various animals available for breeding. Titles include CH (short for champion) and ROM, an acronym for Register of Merit, which is associated with dogs that have produced champion fighters. Twelve dogs listed on the site are labeled with CH and two others are called ROM dogs, as well as one titled POR, which stands for producer of record (a canine that produces a dog fight winner). New York Dems Rip Senate GOP Health Care Plan

By Forum Staff New York Democrats this week blasted the new Senate GOP Health Care Plan.

“This bill is designed to strip away healthcare benefits and protections from New Yorkers and Americans who need it most, in order to give a giant tax break to the folks who need it the least,” said Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer.

“Simply put: this bill will result in higher costs, less care, and millions of Americans will lose their health insurance. It’s every bit as bad as the House bill; in some ways, it’s even worse.”

Schumer said the bill would hurt the more than 6.3 million New Yorkers enrolled in Medicaid—many in nursing homes and approximately 1.3 million in New York City alone.

Schumer said the bill also abandons people with pre-existing conditions, especially maternity care and mental health; defunds Planned Parenthood, eliminating care for women in New York and across the country; weakens health care coverage for

up. By cutting back on tax credits and making Americans to pay an even bigger percentage of their income for their premiums, they’ll send costs soaring. Second, this bill will kick millions off of Medicaid, by making even deeper cuts than the House bill. If you’re a middle class family with a loved one in a nursing home, the cost of that care could go up. Third, the Senate

To end the Medicaid expansion created under the Affordable Care Act is a cruel joke, as is the blatantly partisan attack on women’s health by defunding Planned Parenthood and allowing waivers to opt out of essential benefit requirements that cover maternity care.”

Cuomo Appoints Joe Lhota to Serve as MTA Chairman Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced the appointment of Joe Lhota to serve as the chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

In this role, Lhota will direct the executive management team to address the current crisis facing the transit system. As chairman, Lhota will receive a salary of $1 per year, and delegate CEO duties to a permanent executive officer, a position for which the search is ongoing, Cuomo said.

Community, Diocesan Dignitaries Celebrate Dedication of Altar at St. Helen

By Michael V. Cusenza Members of the Howard Beach community on Tuesday evening joined elected officials, civic leaders, and diocesan dignitaries at St. Helen Roman Catholic Church for a Mass to celebrate the dedication of the altar at the beloved Rockwood Park place of worship.

The Rev. Francis Colamaria, pastor of St. Helen’s, led the procession of bishops – in-

cluding Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, who celebrated the Mass – into the nave as the church choir harmonized the entrance hymn, “I Will go up to the Altar of God.” “I will go up to the altar of God/to the God who gives me life; I will go up to the altar of God, to the God of my delight!”

In recent months, the renovated St. Helen’s has installed several new items: pews, an organ, the tabernacle, candles, and a crucifix that was carved in Colombia.

St. Helen’s was officially established on June 24, 1960, after the Diocese of Brooklyn recognized the need to serve the burgeoning Catholic community that had settled west of Cross Bay Boulevard. In October, 1961, after a successful fundraising campaign, land was purchased on 157th Avenue and 84th Street. It was to be the site of what is now known as Father Dooley Hall. Construction was completed in April, 1962 and Mass was celebrated there on Palm Sunday, April 15, 1962. The official consecration of the building took place on Sept. 16, 1962.

BE PREPAREDHow to Handle Bee Stings A friends recent bout with a hornet's nest in their backyard brought to mind the urgency to remind all of our readers and patrons about the importance of being informed and prepared for this type of emergency, especially in the height of the summer.

Bee stings can be relatively easy to treat and for most people, they require some minor first aid, however for those with an allergy to bee venom, the situation can escalate into a life threatening experience.

If the insect has inserted their stinger into the skin, it is important to remove it. There is a common misconception that the stinger should be plucked or tweezed out of the skin, but that can cause more venom to be released into the skin. The best procedure for removing the stinger is to try and scrape it out. You cam use the edge of a knife, a credit card or even a fingernail. The quicker you remove the stinger, the better, so use anything suitable for scraping.

Be aware that members of the wasp, hornet and yellow jacket families do not leave a stinger in the skin when they sting you.

For most stings treatment would

be comprised of washing the stung area with soap and water, then applying an antiseptic. Then you should apply a soothing ointment, like a hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion and cover the area with a dry, sterile bandage.

If swelling is a problem, apply an ice pack or cold compress to the area.

There are also oral antihistamines which reduce itching, swelling and hives.

In the case you have reason to believe you may have an allergic reaction, you should always carry an emergency kit with you, likely an EpiPen or other treatment as prescribed by your doctor. If you begin to display any signs of a reaction especially respiratory symptoms get yourself medical attention immediately. Keep in mind most reactions will begin in a relatively short time span following the incident.

Pheffer Amato Secures Expansion of QueensRail Study

Cusenza When Phil Goldfeder announced last year that he would not be running for another term in the Assembly and endorsed Stacey Pheffer Amato as his successor in the 23rd District, he knew that he would have to pass the proverbial baton representing myriad projects near and dear to south Queens constituents – perhaps none more critical than the possible reactivation of the Rockaway Beach Rail Line.

It seems that the baton is in good hands.

Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato (DHoward Beach) recently announced that though the release of the findings of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s feasibility study of the long-defunct line has been pushed to later this year from the original June deadline, she has secured two important approvals: • the inclusion of specific criteria in the final report that are meant to better illustrate the feasibility of the proposal; • and that the MTA, the Long Island Rail Road, and New York City Transit will be jointly requesting and contracting an outside entity to help conduct the evaluation, thereby putting all key agency stakeholders on the same page and ensuring their mutual investment in giving the proposal a full and fair hearing.

“This is a huge deal,” Pheffer Amato said. “Reactivating the RBRL may be the best and most permanent fix for our transit issues. We had a 40-minute commute for eighty years, from 1880 to 1960. But it was lengthened to an hour twenty minutes, and now we’re effectively cut off from

large parts of the city. So fixing that is priority Number 1. And now, even though the Rockaway Peninsula economy is roaring back, there’s this narrative parroted by some in City government that a competing project idea to the QueensRail – the QueensWay – is likely to materialize. But the demand for real transit never went away, and we think Governor Cuomo’s call for a single-seat ride from JFK to Midtown definitely is helping with momentum for

restoring the RBRL.” The RBRL was put into service in the late 19th Century under the control of the LIRR and connected Rockaway and southern Queens with Rego Park, provided area residents with expedient access to other parts of the city, and 40-minute commutes to Midtown Manhattan from the Rockaway Peninsula. In the early 1960s, parts of the railroad service were condensed, sectioned off, and it eventually closed in 1962.

Telemarketers Robocalls Could Get Worse if FCC Allows New ‘Ringless Voicemail’ Technology: Schumer

By Forum Staff Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer this week sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai urging the panel to reject a new spam method called ‘ringless voice mail’ technology, which would allow telemarketers to inundate a person’s voicemail box without letting the phone ring.

Schumer (D-N.Y.) noted that under a new federal rule change petition submitted by a ringless voice mail provider, the FCC would exempt ringless voice mail technology from federal ‘Do Not Call’ regulations. Schumer said that if the FCC goes along with this petition, millions of consumers could see their voicemail inboxes flooded with messages from annoying telemarketers, some who may be trying to scam the individual. Schumer on Monday urged the FCC to deny this request and side with the consumers. The FCC is currently collecting public comments on this petition regarding ringless voice mail technology.

“With billions of robocalls made to cell phones each year, the feds should be doing more to reign in annoying telemarketers, not throw gas on the problem and add fuel to cell-phone spam,” Schumer said. “If ringless voice mail technology is exempt

from federal regulations, consumers could see their voice mail boxes inundated with unimportant messages, confusing consumers and making it harder or even impossible to get real messages. That’s why I am urging the FCC to deny any request that would allow for more telemarketing messages and side with the consumers.”

New York’s senior senator also noted that ringless voice mail technology involves a process by which telemarketers use technology software to transfer voicemails to individuals using service-to-service technology. With this technology, the phone being called doesn’t ring, but rather receives an alert that they have received a voicemail message. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, calls made using an autodialer or pre-recorded voice are prohibited without the express prior consent of the individual being called. However, Schumer said, telemarketers feel that their technology should be exempt from the TCPA because ringless voice mails do not make actual phone calls.

According to YouMail, a robocall blocking service and data aggregator, there were 2.6 billion robocalls in May 2017. Atlanta is the number one area affected by robocalls.

New York City’s “917” area code ranked number six in May 2017 on the list of top robocall affected area codes. New York City’s “347” area code ranked number seven on that same list. In total, these two NYC area codes were targeted by an estimated 56 million robocalls in May 2017. According to Youmail, Nassau County’s “516” area code received a total of 12.5 million robocalls in May 2017 and Suffolk County’s “631” area code received a total of 8.6 million robocalls in May 2017. All in all, in May alone, the the five boroughs and Long Island market saw over 76 million robocalls.

“As policymakers, what we should be doing is finding ways to make current law stronger and tighter; the government should not begin to contemplate allowing new and different ways for consumers to be overwhelmed by unwanted messages,” Schumer wrote in his missive to Pai.

THE PUBLIC SERVANT Politician.

It is a term wed to a negative connotation that has, through myriad case studies of corruption, outsized greed, and general lawlessness, been able to generate feelings of distrust, discouragement, disillusionment, and downright disgust among constituents.

We need not look far for evidence that supports this observation. Queens has, at times, been more infamous than famous – with this distinction owed to the litany of unscrupulous officials who have helped to cultivate a cesspool of public corruption in the center of the World’s Borough.

Just a few examples: In 2009, Malcolm Smith became the first African-American majority leader of the State Senate. He is now in federal prison.

The Democrat was found guilty of bribery, fraud and extortion in 2015 for his role in a failed $200,000 pay-to-play scheme in which Smith tried to buy his way onto the Republican line of the 2013 mayoral ballot with the help of several other players.

Among those players was disgraced former City Councilman Dan Halloran, a Republican from

Whitestone who was convicted in 2014 of helping to facilitate the Smith bribe scheme and pocketing illicit cash for himself.

And among the bold-faced names joining Smith and Halloran in this rogues gallery is former Assemblyman Anthony Seminerio, a Democrat who resigned in 2009 after more than 30 years representing south Queens in the Lower Chamber. Seminerio copped to accepting money through a sham consulting firm doing business

with Jamaica Hospital. He died in 2011 while serving his six-year sentence in Butner, N.C. “No matter how inventive corrupt politicians are in trying to abscond with public funds, they never seem to learn from the many that have been caught previously with their hands in the public till,” Dick Dadey, executive director of good-government group Citizens Union, once told Crain’s New York Business.

So when we see a politician ac-

tually working hard for, and seemingly doing right by, his or her constituents, we feel the need to trumpet the positive just as much as we bask in the schadenfreude.

The State legislative session, which came to a close last week, was a banner one for Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach).

Here are just some of the recent Addabbo-sponsored bills that either passed the Senate or both houses this session:

• Legislation that extends certain prior approved work permits relating to Superstorm Sandy in Breezy Point.

• Legislation to provide veterans’ organizations with 120 days to fix building and other code violations before fines are assessed.

• Legislation to increase public awareness of Down Syndrome and fund research projects into the chromosomal disorder.

• Legislation to create an 11-member Task Force on Responsible Gaming within the New York State Gaming Commission.

• Legislation to provide economic incentives for the removal of dangerous cocklofts.

We’re not saying Addabbo gets it right every time. We won’t always agree with him or the way he may vote every time. But at least he’s trying. Through his steady attention to constituents, and his legislative work ethic, the Ozone Park product is making his case for not being cast alongside the “politicians” that have made it such a dirty word, and restoring even a modicum of confidence in the position to which he was elected in the first place.
