or the second time in two weeks, School Committee Member-at-Large Lester McLaughlin made a motion to “reconvene [the] Superintendent Search Committee to consider all candidates,” and for the second time it did not pass. Neither interim Superintendent of Schools Janice Gauthier nor Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs Charles Obremski were given the opportunity to apply for the position. Gauthier has been in the district for 49 years and Obremski has been in the district for 32 years. McLaughlin originally made his motion during the School Committee’s December 2 meeting, saying internal candidates should have been considered during the search. “I’m upset that people who’ve spent a lifetime making the Everett Public School system what it is never got a shot,” he said at that meeting, adding that none of the four superintendent finalists have experience leading a school district. “They know nothing about the
