HARLEM COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS COMMUNITY NAN Celebrates Life of Honorable David N. Dinkins in Harlem

This past Saturday, New York politicians and community leaders came together to celebrate the life of the Honorable David N. Dinkins at NAN (National Action Network) in Harlem. Honorable David N. Dinkins died last week at the age of 93, just 6 weeks after the death of his wife Joyce.
Mayor Bill de Blasio, former New York Governor David Patterson, former Congressman Charles Rangel, Congressman Adrian Espiatt, Assemblymember Inez Dickens, Borough President Gale Brewer, NAACP NY President Hazel Dukes, were among the attendees at the event.
Mayor de Blasio credits Dinkins for his family. He met his wife through Dinkins as they both worked for the Dinkins administration. “He knew that this city could be better and that was his power. He told us we could be better and he did something about it.” de Blasio said. “Let’s give credit where credit is due, safe streets, safe city, David Dinkins did that.” Dinkins’ family has stated that a memorial service for the city’s 106th mayor will be scheduled once the pandemic subsides.
