As spring approaches, Astorians are turning to layers to contend with unpredictable temperatures. We spotted long coats, both cozy and classic, all over the streets of western Queens; this universal outerwear can be styled in tons of different ways. Many locals made neutral wardrobe staples more visually interesting by mixing different textures or incorporating an accent piece.

Astoria resident Domenica Rose (@domenica_rose) balances out her creamy shearling coat with a “spring ready” two-piece crop top suit. She says she prefers wearing colors as the weather gets warmer — and it looks like it’s about time. Prospect Park resident Diana Gafi atullina (@moll_dyer) rocks her navy trench coat with urban-style leather boots. And with a brown plaid scarf gently wrapped around her, she is ready for her photoshoot.

Corona resident C Jhoao Lopez (@jhoao__) Jhoao Lop displays his brown dis puffer jacket with brown skateboarding shoes. He defi nes his style as “old school and relaxed,” and from time to time he glides through the streets of Astoria on his board.
Astoria resident Hannah Kemp (@hannahfaith88) wears ripped blue jeans and a light shearling jacket, giving her classic street style a textured twist. She defi nes her style as “cozy.”
Astoria resident Spencer Camilien (@s_grim) pairs cool leather boots with a neutral gray coat and dark denim. He adds polish to the look with a red plaid scarf and designer glasses. Looking sharp! Astoria resident Yukari_ Osaka (@yukari__osaka) layers wool garments, perfectly combining various textures and different shades in this minimalistic look. Her leather bag is the only accessory she needs.
