Saugus Police Lt. Anthony LoPresti discusses goal to run this year in his first Boston Marathon

Editor’s Note: For this week, we sat down with Anthony J. LoPresti, Sr., a Saugus Police Lieutenant who is among the 19 Saugus residents who are registered to run in this year’s Boston Marathon, which is set for Patriots’ Day, April 15. LoPresti, 49, a veteran member of the Saugus Annual Town Meeting representing Precinct 8, grew up in Lynn and in around 1998 moved to Saugus, where he raised his family. He and his wife, Caroline LoPresti, have been married for 26 years. They have three grown-up children – all graduates of the Saugus Public Schools: Hannah LoPresti, who graduated from Boston College, is a pediatric nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital; Anthony J. LoPresti, Jr., who received an engineering degree from the University of New Hampshire, works in construction management with PMA Consultants; Isabella LoPresti is in her second year of nursing school at Salem State University. LoPresti studied at Lynn English High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marines when he was 17 years old. He served four years (1987-91), discharging honorably as a corporal. He is a Persian Gulf War Veteran, having served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He has received numerous military commendations and medals, including the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

t least one Town Meeting member has concerns about the possible financial impact that a proposed moratorium on multifamily dwellings could have on the town’s revenues. Stephen M. Horlick of Precinct 8 raised some questions Wednesday night toward the end of a Finance Committee review of warrant articles for the April 8 Special Town Meeting. Did Town Manager Scott C.
