to the arts and artistic opportunities,� he said. Smith, a Raleigh, N.C., native, has immersed himself in music since childhood when he sang in his church choir at age 11. He continues to perform in various side jobs outside of his career as an educator. He sings as a member of First Class Band, which performs at weddings and events in the Boston area. He also has his own DJ business, performing at weddings, proms and private events. He also loves to dance and play the piano. The new principal hinted that he might be inclined to share some of his music talents at Oaklandvale if it helps to enhance the educational experience for his students.

Principals gear up for the start of a new academic year next Tuesday By Mark E. But High School Principal Michael Hashem said in an interview this week that he and his staff are already into the second year of transition for the future Saugus MiddleHigh School that is targeted to open its doors to the freshman Class of 2020 in the fall of that year.
